    Wine tasting list

A great stop where I grew up! We got to try 4 tastings and purchased the glasses! The service was good but the wine just wasn't to our liking. The story behind the Manor was quite interesting and was the highlight of the visit!

Beautiful haunted winery on the Niagara wine trail. We sat at private table and had 4 tastings. Our tasting gentleman told us the story of the haunted manor. The cat Skipper was a great addition to our tastings It was very hot in the winery as there was no air.

We decided to check out this winery when we were trying to find things to do in the area. My wife found this place while looking on Google Maps, and I'm so glad she did. Upon driving to the winery and parking, we were approached by friendly staff. We decided to do some wine tasting, which was served in little plastic cups. I wasn't too fond of how it was served, not only because it looked tacky, but resulted in plastic waste too. My wife and I chose different wines, just so we could have a taste of each others wines. As has happened in the past, we tend to end up liking the choices the other one selected. I had one really disliked choice(a dry chocolate cherry one), but the rest were very good. We picked up a few bottles. The staff also shared elaborate ghost stories with us and encouraged us to walk the property. We each got a glass of our favorite wine in a plastic cup and walked the perimeter of the property. We were very appreciative that we were allowed to walk the path, take in nature near the apple orchard, and just enjoy being there. We also hung out in the lobby area with one of their friendly kitties. Being here was definitely a highlight for our day, and I would definitely consider going back. Then again, we have been going through their wines at a faster pace than usual, so I guess we will need to go back and buy some more.

Marjim Manor has become one of the wineries I visit most often. Today I stopped in because they are having a used book sale in support of our local library: $1 for hard covers, $0.50 for soft covers. Most of the books are in excellent condition. I made some great finds, including a special edition of Neil Gaiman's American Gods. It looks brand new. Marjim Manor has all sorts of events throughout the year: craft nights, ghost hunts, psychic nights, murder mysteries, Victorian teas. Something for everybody. Sometimes other vendors like local chocolatiers come in. And they have shop cats. Oh, the shop cats. And of course there's the wine. They specialize in fruit wines. Rumor has it my beloved Blue Beryl, their sweet blueberry, is returning this year.

Amazing visit! Delicious flights, with many choices. Staff was helpful and shared the lovely ghost story from the premises. Cheeses from the Finger Lakes a unique and perfect touch. A Harvest Host also; best Niagara Wine Trail has to offer. Highly recommend!

Second stop yesterday on our Niagara wine trail wine tour. I love the gorgeous house that houses this winery, and the story the house holds as well. The story was told by Joe, one of the staff members. According to the legend of the house, starting with the wife of the original owner, many people (and even a dog) have died in the home on a Thursday at 3pm over the years. Not to self, do not visit at this time!!! The home has even been featured on ghost hunters! The story aside, the wine tasting here was $6 and included a wine glass and tickets for four tastings. The included sine glass was a nice touch and I was pretty excited about this. The wines on their list go grime driest at the top to sweetest at the bottom. I'm a sucker for fruity wines. Favorite wines: -Strawberry Dreams Forever (sweeter side) -Beryl Blue (sweet blueberry) OH and the best part was the two resident kitties I got to love on. They even sell little bottles of wine meant for cats so their owners aren't drinking alone!

For a winery this is no good. My boyfriend and I did 2 wine tastings and of course we share but we found nothing we liked. They don't properly chill their wines so they don't taste like they should. Also the staff mumble a lot so you have no idea what is the composition of what you're drinking. On the other hand, this manor is haunted. It was in the top 100 most haunted places in the United States. The staff know the story and telling it was the only time they didn't mumble. Supposedly Ghost Hunters investigated the home and found a lot of activity. I would love to come back for a ghost tour or see the different things they talked about. This place shouldn't be a winery, it should be a ghostly attraction.

Came here on a wine tour with a bunch of friends. Definitely want to go back and get the history behind this place. The people were all friendly and we got a wine glass with the tastings which was super cool. Very beautiful place and I would love to explore it and also live here and never leave and is it for sale? #runonsentence #canibuymarjimmanor? X's and O's! J

We had such high hopes for this winery with all of the stories of ghosts and haunted buildings. However, it was hands down the worst winery on the tour. When we walked in, we were not greeted, but immediately barked at with the cost of the wine tasting. You have to pay up front, and I wasn't even sure I wanted to go taste these wines at this point. When we arrived at the desk, the woman had already rung up our total, assuming we would each have a separate tasting. This rubbed us the wrong way, and we decided to share two between the four of us. I was really glad we did. The wine list has absolutely no descriptors of the wine. There were about twenty choices, and all the information we had was the name, and maybe telling us if it was a cherry or an apricot wine. Perhaps if there had been descriptors I might have picked a wine I liked. The wines are laid out on the counter in these cheap black plastic buckets full of water. The wine labels are tacky and need a serious graphic designer. Every wine we picked was syrupy sweet. Our friends has the cab, and said it was the worst can they've ever tasted in their lives. It's probably a good thing that the pours were barely enough for a sip. We heard such great stories of the cats, but they were nowhere to be seen, and when we asked, the guy behind the counter just shrugged and said "oh they're somewhere." I would absolutely steer anyone away from this winery.

Friendly people in an interesting old house with lots of fruit wines that have kitschy names. We stopped here on the way back to the cottage after a day of Canadian wineries, and we don't like fruit wines, so we should have known better. The tasting was free - good - but the wines were a little too warm to really enjoy. They had all the windows open and the fans on, but the wines were in some kind of cooler thing that didn't really keep them cold. Supposedly the house is haunted, according to the woman owner, but her husband doesn't believe. The server did tell us that they'll be on Ghost Hunters this fall, so we'll have to see if it's true. The wines are affordable - we got a decent bottle for $9, but we bought it mainly because we wanted to get something since the tasting was free. When we had it with some spicy appetizers the next night, it was a decent combination.

We grabbed it, to bring to a big dinner gathering. We knew it was serious when we picked it up - it was a hefty pie! When we cut into it, it was juicy & there was minimal crust - in a really good way. Like a cobbler. So much sweet strawberry filling! The streusel topping was perfectly slightly salty, to balance out the sweet strawberries. And cinnamony. DELICIOUS!! Everyone loved it. I would bet that any pie they bring to the farmers market is fantastic. GET IT.

I looked up some reviews and LynOaken was highly recommended and offered a lot of varieties. A huge bonus was that there was a winery next door! I called in advance to see what the U-pick varieties were for the date I was looking to go because all the varieties are not ready to be picked at once. This year they had an online reservation system set up due to the pandemic. $7 included parking and a small bag of non specialty apples. You could buy more u-pick or prepicked apples on site. When you arrive there is a super cute country store set up with pre picked apples, cider, baked goods, vegetables and other treats. Once you check in there are wagons you can use to lug apples or transport kids which was a nice bonus. The area is large but not too spread out so it's nice to take a family and kids can't go too far. The staff is helpful and knows a lot about their products. Delicious and fresh apples and very clean and well run place. The winery, Leonard Oakes Estates, next door also had outdoor seating. I think there was indoor as well if you wanted. $10 got you 3 generous tastings and an ample choice of charcuterie, nuts, etc. There were a lot of tasty wine and ciders to choose from. Overall a fun day with tons of yummy options to choose from.
