They have a great range of beer, wine and liquor although what they really do well is the bulk specials such as the Beer packs. The location on a peak of busy Lower Plenty Road is definitely it's down fall. It is risky business parking in front of the store and jumping out of your car to avoid traffic. Be warned many a side mirror has fallen prey to this hill. There is limited parking to be find at a nearby restaurant, but for convenience parking out the front of the store is the way to go. A great local spot for your bulk buy liquor needs!

Dan Murphy Berwick is absolutely enormous and features every kind of alcohol conceivable. The thing I love about Dan's though is it bring new wine varieties to the mainstream without huge price tags attached. Dan's in Berwick features an enormous range of wines. If you want to buy in bulk the staff are happy to help you out and will always look after you price-wise too.

Then you've got to get back to the damn car (where the hell did I park again?) and finally you can go home and cook your damn pasta. Seriously, if you're not doing a major shop, go here. The people working there were so good with helping pick out wines as well as being friendly enough to chat about other things and just be good blokes. The shop is set up really nice and feels like an old cellar where they sell their vintage wines at amazing prices. If you're into your wines then this is a great place to pick up a bargain and impress people at your next outing. I ended up stocking up a little more than I should've but it was totally worth it. The mix of good local and international wines with all of the different blends and styles means you will always find a perfect drop for any occasion. Definitely a great bottle shop to visit!!

What I love about it is the availability of Victorian made products with a smattering of interesting overseas offerings. And their table wine is pretty reasonable too. It's always a pleasure talking to the staff as we learn something new each time. Sometimes I feel as though we are following their brew adventures as they hunt down new stock. The pride in and knowledge of their stock makes me feel that Dave, the guy who runs it, is more of a curator than a shopkeeper. There are regular tastings and at Christmas they made up some microbrew mixed six packs so we could introduce these lovely drops to others. Awesome. Now, if only their stall was a bit bigger ;)

That said, although Swords is known primarily for its huge variety of interesting beers, they also have a great collection of cider (which I am very agreeable to on a hot day in the sun). The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable about all things hoppy and boozy - they'll point you in the direction of something new and interesting and send you on your merry way with a mixed selection of things to try. One of the girls who works here, Lucy, applies a similar language to beer as one would with wine and it's an absolute treat to have her serve you if you want to geek out. On my most recent visit I went home with three new ciders - an interesting cloudy pear version (Perry), a regular clear apple cider from the Adelaide Hills and a little Victorian number which all went down a treat at an outdoor BBQ.
