The menu is manily based upon seasonal, local produce, and so will change as the seasons and availabilty changes. I believe the menu actually rotates once per month, which is an achievement itself in the days of mass produced food. Its not your standard restaurant, and probably isnt suitable for children, but if you like venison, game such as pheasant, rabbit and so on, then its well worth your time. Both lunch menus and evening menus are available, and the food is very reasonably priced. Peppers also caters for parties and group bookings and will offer menus to accomodate larger parties. eating here helped my firm secure a big contract once as the clients were very impressed with the food.the food itself is superlative, the drinks accompany the meals well, and the service is pretty much spot on. I cant recommend this place highly enough. Not an everyday kind of place, but certainly a place to visit at least once if you're in the area

Unfortunately he left and yes the food and standards went back to normal. So onto the Rosette..the re-visit.. Now great people work there, helpful and attentive a great new (non smoking) manageress and of course our favourite chef running the kitchen putting out great food, and it shows. it has brought new life to this once dog end of a pub, our friends are talking about it and we love it. Go, don't expect high end food but just great pub grub served with a smile and it doesn't even upset your wallet ( or the wife) at bill time.

Went in on a busy Sunday afternoon and was surprised to get a table. I had Roast beef lunch. The…read morebeef was tasty, lovely and juicy. With it came some really poor veg. The potatoes were boiled then deep fried to try and give the impression of Roast. They were truly awful. The carrots were nice but the peas tasted like they were cheap, nasty tinned ones. The Yorkshire pudding was good as was the gravy. This cost £7.50 and I don't think it was worth anymore than £5. My partner had Gammon. It came with the usual accompaniments. But yet again horribly cooked fried potatoes spoiled the dish. Won't be back in a hurry

First Class!…read more A little gem of a place tucked away in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds! The Wolds Inn is some of the best dining you will find for miles around. Situated in the village of Huggate, approximately 30 minutes from York, it is true to say it is in the back of beyond, but anyone venturing this far will not be disappointed! The food here is excellent, absolutely first class! On our first visit I opted for the Wolds Topper (mixed grill) and my partner went for the Roast Pork. The mixed grill was the finest I have ever seen or tasted (and I've eaten plenty of mixed grills) with succulent steak, lamb, pork, gammon, sausage black pudding and fantastic home cut chips. But this was nothing compared to the Roast Pork which was, honestly large enough to feed a family! The joint was a similar size to what we would buy from Tesco for a family Sunday roast (in fact we took the leftovers home and it did sanwiches for us the next day)! It was beautiful to taste and covered with delicious pork crackling! The puddings are also to die for! Eton Mess was fabulous! The prices are little higher than other places in the area but it is more than worth it. There are also a good selection of ales and wines available too. Accommodation is available should you wish to make a night of it.
