Mount Gambier is a pretty busy place ... the cafe that we originally intended to visit was way too packed! So we used Yelp to find 'nearby' cafes, as we were starving ... and came upon The Whistling Cat - great name, which is a good start!
This place is MASSIVE!! It is decorated like an antique store, and has the potential to be fantastic. The menu is pretty basic, mainly paninis and doorstops - I had a chicken panini, which was served with a lot of salad - good value, but not exactly a taste sensation.
While not completely blown away, our lunch was nice ... standard cafe fare. Would be greatly improved by playing some jazz music in the background instead of a generic mainstream radio station - while this place has potential, it kinda misses the mark. read more
