Bruschetta was good but small portions. Broccoli salad needs to be removed from menu, large chunks of broccoli (not baby broccoli like menu said) drenched in creamy dressing and shredded cheese looked uneatable. Salmon on salad was greasy and undercooked. Chicken kabobs were undercooked(very pink) and took forever to get replaced/ cooked more. Had to get it to go because rest of party was fully done eating. Terrible service, can't rate the food as we never got a chance to eat. Went a few nights ago with a friend and we were seated on the patio. The server brought us waters, silverware, and menus. She asked if we wanted a moment to review the drink menu and we said yes. Then she never returned. She checked in on every table around us, but somehow never made it to our table. We waited patiently for a while, then even tried to flag her down, but did not manage to get her attention. We finished our waters and waited a bit more before finally leaving. We were sitting there for about a half hour before we finally got up and left. Probably won't be back. If you'd like attentive service, this isn't the place for you. read more

I didn't think anything was spectacular but, also not terrible. I had the gin strawberry fizz to drink. It was strong. Could use mint, basil or rosemary. For starters, we had the arancini, which was one thing I found to be better than average. I had the seared salmon with creamy dill sauce. I would never have known there was dill in it. It was almost like mayonnaise alone for me. That needed salt, lemon, garlic and more dill. The salmon itself was chimed nicely. Not over cooked. To be honest this place was the most disappointing night out I have had in my Yelp career. And I hope that management monitors this because this place has some remarkable potential and quite honestly could be a top 5 place to dine in all of the Pointes. 1. The staff is sleepwalking - the we experience of being waited on is one of the main reasons you go out. Unfortunately there is a lot of training that needs to happen with the entire staff because everyone I talked to was quiet, tired, and disinterested. 2. There food was average - in a party of 6 people nobody was impressed with their food and two people sent their dishes back. There needs to be higher execution on dishes because that is pretty damning. 3. Great theme, poor execution - this has a Detroit prohibition era speak easy theme which is an absolutely great idea. But there is little Detroit flavor to it. The beer selection is almost all macro brews and there are very few Michigan made beers. Atwater is Detroit's biggest and most popular micro brew and they had 1 beer featured. Also, Go all in on the prohibition theme! You've unsuccessfully mixed contemporary with historic. I really hope this place improves because like I said it has great potential. However currently there is a lot of work to be done. ***Notice: I have been informed by another patron that the beer selection I was given during my visit is starkly different than what they remember. W6's 4 - 7p happy hour is super convenient (more so than those ending at 6p), and the Tuesday Half Off All Pizza special is awesome! We ordered two: one with ham and mushrooms, and one BBQ chicken. The ham and 'shroom pie was great - fresh cubes of actual ham, not some weird lunchmeat squares like a lot of places offer, and fresh mushrooms. However, the BBQ chicken was even better: I have never really enjoyed a BBQ chicken pizza, though I've tried quite a few - they've usually got (sweet) BBQ sauce in place of red sauce, and the chicken is often dried out or stringy. This one was fantastic: cubes of chicken breast, thin slices of fresh red onion, and slices of scallions - nothing burned, nothing dried out, NOT greasy at all. The BBQ sauce (a drizzle on top, not under the cheese) is tangy, not too spicy and not sweet, and its acidity complemented the rest of the toppings. The crust was thin, but not at all soggy, and not burned either - it was really well balanced. The thin, crispy crust was a bonus. Our server, Ryan, knew the menu well and was able to answer all of our questions and make recommendations with ease - we didn't sit with dirty dishes or empty glasses, and he made sure we got our pints in during happy hour. I really want to love this place. The food is really good for the most part, and so is the atmosphere. They have a great drink selection. Unfortunately, their service is severely lacking. Waitresses that come to the table as if you're bothering them, giving the wrong drinks, being real snarky when you ask their opinion. There is one bartender there, a tall gentlemen who I believe was at Fishbones for a long time, was far and away the best part of our experience. Great new restaurant in the Village of Grosse Pointe. Massive wooden bar with lots of seating space in the back area as well. Tons of large TVs for the avid sports fan but they aren't intrusive. The atmosphere in this place is lively and upscale casual with dark wooden accents throughout. The staff is still getting everything together as they just opened but did a fine job of handling our orders. The food is very well priced. Burgers run from $10-14, individual pizzas started at $10. Lots of shareable appetizers to choose from as well. The quality of our meal was very good. The sides are probably the thing we were left wanting more from. We ordered the onion rings ($6) and got a small unappealing portion which did not live up to the price. We saw some fries going out of the kitchen and they looked much more appropriately sized and tasty. The drink list is massive, including a large selection of craft beers (mostly Michigan made) on tap. They have a large whiskey and scotch selection, as well as tons of mixed drinks. Would recommend for anyone coming to the area looking for a high end feel without the high end price tag. This place will be a game changer in the Grosse Pointe restaurant community. read more

I've only been here twice but going again tonight which lets you know I love this place. In my opinion it's an upscale sports bar with great TV views from every angle. The bartender is a local favorite that used to work at another bar in the area. He knows his stuff and is an expert in kraft beers. May I also add he provides phenomenal service. The wings are great! If you're a vegetarian try the portobello mushroom burger it is the bomb!!! The fresh pretzel stix and cheese is a good starter as well. Had a fun night here trying it out for the first time. The place has a great vibe; the decor was fun and there was a live Rockbilly band playing (not my fiancé and my particularly favorite type of music, but the band sounded great for what they were doing). Our service was good to start out with, but I was a little annoyed when our server didn't come back shortly after I told him I needed a little longer to pick out a drink nor did he check on our food during the meal. The food was pretty good, except the bread with our Caprese Salad seemed more stale than toasted (I could barely bite a piece off). I have a feeling this isn't normally how they serve their bread, and was more likely due to the fact that we were eating late at night. The drinks were good and there was a a large selection of cocktails that will probably bring me back to try the place out again (probably on a Thursday, $2 off their signature cocktails). I was disappointed I never saw a manager/had anyone check on us other than our server. The bar wasn't particularly busy and it is always nice to see another face caring about the customers. Was in Grosse Point for a long weekend with some friends in the area. Despite the business hours showing open till 10pm throughout the weekend, the kitchen was closed at 830 each night. My husband and I first came here the opening night back in 2015. The interior of the restaurant is cool, but once you sit down and look at the food menu, it goes downhill from there. I appreciate a restaurant trying to be different and unique with their menu, but the Whiskey Six doesn't deliver. For example, some of the appetizers are meatballs, Brussels sprouts, etc. Simply put, the appetizers aren't tasty. I believe they are overpriced, especially for such a small portion. Next, the bar area has potential. However, the bartenders and waitstaff just aren't that friendly. Over the last year, the Whiskey Six has really declined. My husband and I decided to give it another try. We stopped by for lunch during the month of August. It was a nice day so we chose to sit outside on the patio. A waitress never came to greet us or get our drink orders. We were very observant and the table next to us was complaining about the terrible service. After ten minutes of not having a waitress come to our table to greet us, we got up and left. We drove by the Whiskey Six two days ago and the entire place was empty at 9pm. I couldn't believe it. The Whiskey Six is a huge bar/restaurant. We expected the Whiskey Six to be packed. The Old Pony just opened up around the corner from the Whiskey Six. Needless to say, the Old Pony has exceptional food and service. Plus, the Old Pony's happy hour is amazing. As Grosse Pointers, we have no plans to go to the Whiskey Six ever again. read more

Finally had a chance to re-visit the Whiskey Six at the urging of the manager. Happy to say it was FAR BETTER this time! Much of that had to do with our OUTSTANDING server, Courtney, who bent over backwards to make certain we had a positive experience. My wife ordered a vegetable entre' and I had the wings and a side salad. Courtney thought the wings were blazing hot, but I didn't agree. Had to ask for additional Frank's Red Hot in order to bring them up to close-to-Buffalo-style. The wings were decent, but rather small. Tasty tho. The balsamic salad dressing was fabulous, and my wife enjoyed her veggies, but felt that the Portabella mushroom was a tad heavy on the balsamic, which overwhelmed it too much. Drinks were fine. I'm a bourbon drinker and wanted to try one of their in-house craft cocktails. Courtney suggested the Studebaker - which is a sour made with Traverse City bourbon. The TC bourbon is ok, but not something I'd race to try again. The cocktail itself was quite interesting, but a bit light for my taste - I think due to the malbec they float on top with the sour. Would try another of their craft cocktails, however. My wife had Ferrari-Carano chardonnay, which was fine. After my bourbon, I switched to a glass of Founder's Red Rye - they have a pretty solid collection of craft beers. We will be back - as the ambience and the walkable distance from our house is great! read more

No I will not return as your implication regarding the receipt tells me that you are a "racist". You are correct the receipt was taken in error. After I signed the receipt and left a written tip, + 1.00 to make sure it was 15 percent I noticed server never picked up the tray. We leave, and in retrospect server probably thought we only left him a dollar. We are discussing what just happened and I tell my boyfriend I was going to write a complaint letter and needed the receipt. He goes back inside (being a guy) and gets it. it's not till later I realize he grabbed both copies. I check bank account on phone in car and the money was debited from my account, but not tip) which he did not deserve) Please note every African American that you encounter isn't trying to exploit opportunities for personal gain. I encourage you and your team members to take a diversity class and hospitality management course. I've read other YELP comments and the common denominator is, "sub-par performance". One of my favorite things about this place is that they are open later than most of the other establishments in Grosse Pointe. The drink prices are also very reasonable. Very cool environment and a great place for a casual date or hangout. I suggest trying all of the mules - each of them unique and delicious! Plenty of televisions to catch whatever big game might be on, and they aren't overly intrusive. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive. I had another great meal here this week. I always order the Brussels sprouts appetizer!! Amazing! I usually order the lamb sliders which are excellent. This week I had the chicken breast sandwich without the bread. It was served nicely on the plate with avocado, tomato slice, baby arugula and jimica slaw. They have a great burger, the Prohibition burger , it is huge, it comes with blue cheese and sautéed onions. They have an extensive wine and beer menu. I like an IPA beer and they have quite a few to choose from. Nice atmosphere, lots of wood, makes you feel like you are in some cool place downtown! They have done a great job decorating. In the winter they have the fireplace going. In the spring and summer you can eat outside. read more

The Whiskey six is the king of ambiance.. but the service was lacking. When I pay over 13 dollars for sliders the folks in the house should be nice. Our waitress was nice enough, but unfortunately in Grosse Pointe on that weekend the folks friendly quotient was at an all time low. I did not like the afore mentioned lamb sliders, they were dry and the pickled onions were pretty gross and sour and I love pickled onions. If it was not for the duck poutine the review would have been 2 stars. I would actually come back, unfriendly service and all for the poutine. I am not usually one to order poutine due to the unsightly image it sometimes invokes. This poutine was right on time and looked pretty darn good. I do think the curds were not really curds but mozzarella.. whatever the white bits were they tasted pretty yummy. The gravy was spot on, but that tender moist duck.. you had me at hello.. The moral of this story is kindness to guests is important to gain a better review, but the poutine gives you another chance to get it right because I have to have it again! read more

This place was amazing! It was hot so we sat by the roll up doors which was cool enough to be inside but had the outside feel. The service was absolutely fantastic. We got there in time for happy hour. Hubs had a couple whiskey sours and I had a couple glasses of red wine. We ordered a couple appetizers. Buffalo chicken dip and the rib tips. Both were absolutely phenomenal. I wish we had stopped in sooner. Had one of our kids with us and he was entertained sitting by the sidewalk to look outside. Whisky Six is a huge disappointment. Most of the reviews are spot on. The place has potential but the food is lack luster. We asked about the onion rings but declined to order them because the come frozen in a bag. Ordered the smothered waffle fries instead...Should have asked they also come frozen in a bag. The cheese food was exactly that cheese food ( processed). I ordered the Burger it was OK not great. What was worse was the frozen fries that CE with the Burger that tasted distinctly of fish. Dirty oil or cross contamination? Not sure which but neither is acceptable. You will get a better meal with as good an atmosphere at the Village Grill. I will not be back based on the lack of effort to plate a reasonably executed bar menu. read more

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner with the family. We arrived a few minutes after 5 and were told it would be a 45 minute wait. The bar was too crowded to sit at but we luckily found some standing room and began ordering drinks. The whiskey sour was great and they have a nice selection of draft beer. If you're coming here for $10 drinks, it's not a bad spot. You can't transfer your pre-dinner drinks to your dinner tab, so you'll have to cash out before sitting down. Unfortunately, after about 50 minutes of waiting we went to check on our reservation. At this point, told us it would be an additional 30 minutes. Around 6:30 we finally got our table, which was a bit too small for a party of 10. In fact, the table had only 5 chairs at it when we went to sit down and had to wait another 10 minutes for the staff to bring us more chairs. We got settled and ordered our food. I ordered 4 "small plates", two as my appetizer and two as my meal. They all came out as appetizers, so I was left with no food when the rest of my party ate their entrees. I had the bourbon prawns - the flavor of bourbon was way too overpowering. The Brie was far too sweet. I also had the crab cake and lamb sliders, which were decent, but definitely not worth $12 apiece for three very small burgers. The butternut squash soup is served with an obnoxious dollop of cinnamon flavored butter in the middle that we had to scoop out. If you prefer your squash soup savory, this is not the soup for you. They were also out of the poutine, meatballs, and chicken chili soup by 6:30pm. Perhaps it's a good thing that all my food came out early because the rest of my party wasn't served until almost 8pm. No one really liked what they had; fish tacos weren't good, salad was OK but came with dressing when we had specified it on the side, they forgot to add the chicken to a salad (and by the time it arrived the salad was almost gone), pizza was nothing special. Definitely a huge disappointment. Food isn't good, it's overpriced, service is slow, it's very loud... If you do decide to come here, I recommend sticking to drinks only and getting dinner elsewhere. We find a spot by the bar to hang out and get drinks while we wait. Speaking of drinks, for a place with as many spirits (especially whisky) available, their cocktail program needs a major overhaul. The selection of beers on tap was good, but they have a disappointingly short and banal list of cocktails on the menu. The cocktail list looks like something ordered from an out of town "spirits consultant". Put a good faith effort in a quality and original cocktail program please, plenty of other places do it and W6 can too. Anyway, 45 minutes into our wait we go to the host to check and are informed that the kitchen is really backed up and they've stopped seating tables. Lol, wut? Your menu consists of burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, and a few plated entrees. How is that possible to be so backed up you have to stop seating people? Reading through other reviews it's pretty clear this is a recurring problem. Management needs to make some changes. Anyway, we left and don't see much reason to come back absent significant improvement. read more

Cool new bar in GP. We went on a Tuesday night and it was very busy. We were able to get a seat right at the bar, there was a 30 min wait for a table for 2 (at 5:30 on a Tuesday). Great atmosphere, lots of tv's, nice decor. We each ordered craft cocktails, they came out promptly and were good. We ordered two small plates to share and the food was mediocre at best. The rice balls appeared to be topped with mayo, which is gross and not appealing. Other than the mayo they were flavorless. Meatballs were good, not great. Everything was topped with a lot of Parmesan cheese. Although the food was decent bar food it doesn't justify the price. I would recommend Red Crown over Whiskey Six any day. read more
