Pet friendly! I…read moregot referred to his motel by another place that didn't take pets, and I had a large dog and cat with me. We were coming late that night and my options were slim so I was really lucky and happy to find someone there with a room I could get for a few days. Unfortunately my dog got sick so I had to extend my stay another few days but it wasn't at all a problem. And when the owner, a cat lover herself, found out my reason for staying longer, she referred me to a local vet and even kept checking in with me during my stay to see how my pet was doing. My dog didn't make it but I felt very fortunate that there someone who cared in a place where I had no friends or family nearby. The room was fairly large, clean, with easy access to the outside for pet owners. I absolutely recommend it if you're in the area.

I gave the front desk clerk my ID and credit card the reservation had been made with. The room was available and everything was looking good until an overbearing customer hovering at the front desk complained that I was getting my room ahead of her. Apparently all of the 30 people waiting in the lobby were waiting on rooms. The front desk clerk then informed me that they were giving my room away because there were other people in front of me. When I asked how I had a confirmed reservation and they didn't have a room for me, the front desk replied that they have no control over people booking through third party websites and they can easily become oversold that way. I booked directly from the Sheraton website but apparently that did not matter. I would not recommend staying at this hotel as there is no way of knowing whether your reservation will be honored.

The only thing that kept me at this location for so long despite its low quality, was the suite type rooms that it offers. The space is very ample for one or two people. Almost like a personal apartment room. Reasons why I would never stay here again: The hotel is very old, over 12 years at the time of this writing so I was told. The walls and flooring are very thin and cheaply made. A door slam clear down the end of the hall will not only be heard in your bedroom at night, but also felt. Your bed and room will shake. Running or feet moving on the floors above you can be heard in your room. Young, bitchy front desk workers purposely slam housekeeping doors at night to wake guests up. Housekeepers will do the same in the mornings and afternoons. So depending upon your normal sleep schedule, be aware. These door slams will shake and rock your entire room. Bed and all. The evening night reception food and drink options are very cheap and low quality. The Staybridge in Bismarck is of higher quality. Not sure what happened with the one in Minot? The drink lady at the evening reception is not happy with life and is not very kind. It is an inconvenience to her when you need a drink or a refill. At the Bismarck location, there is no drink lady! You just grab your own drink from the keg. Or your own glass of wine. Evening beer drinkers only have two options the whole time, Coors Light or Steiner Bock. Bismarck location actually offered two local options which was nice. There are 4 white wine options each night. Zero red wine options. Why? Because guests like red wine, and this is a nuisance to the drink witch. Breakfast here is horrible. Holiday Inn has better breakfast. Young, bitchy front desk workers are lazy, and helping you with anything is no major concern for them. At night, many can be found sleeping at the front desk. Sheets are dirty. Please see attached photos. Spend your money and stay elsewhere. You will have a more peaceful sleep, also better experience all around.

I stayed in Minot for the majority of the time and commented the 90 minutes drive to and from daily. I needed to extend an extra day, but couldn't as it was the start of the Minot State Fair. All hotels were booked full and I was not going to stay at a Super 8. I had driven past the Kenmare Quilt Inn on my way to Portal several times and thought as it was on my way back to Minot, I would give them a try. Soooo Grateful!!! I booked a king room. I was on the first floor, which was so helpful for me as I had lots of luggage with tools and supplies it had to carry along for work. The room was well appointed. It had a microwave and mini fridge and it even had an upholstered recliner which was so comfortable I found myself sleeping a bit in it. The King size bed was sooo comfortable and the foam pillows were not too stiff and had just the right amount of support. The sheets were soft and smooth to the touch. The towels were as nice or softer than I get at Hilton. The staff was friendly and accommodating. All and all, 5 stars. When I come back, I would prefer to stay here! Thank you Quilt Inn!
