OKAY. Most review at this place are great, and i agree. This place is amazing! But i have ONE complaint about this place. When i stayed here, it looked great. But at 1:30 AM, the blankets were RIPPED OFF of me. I looked around the place and there was NOTHING there! I looked under the bed, nothing! i looked in the closet, nothing!!! This was the 2nd time I visited The Wallace. Just when you think it could not get any better, it does. I think the "Hotel Gods" were definitely on my side. I was travelling to NYC to meet up with friends to go on a cruise to Bermuda. When I got to The Wallace, I checked in at the front desk. They told me the room was not ready but they could call me. I went to lunch and came back. They said my room was ready and I was upgraded to the Penthouse. I was in total shock. The Penthouse was beyond my wildest imagination. I had access to the Roof deck as well. The staff there is extremely friendly and they know what good Customer Service means. A huge shout out to one of the managers (of course I forgot his name). He recently graduated from Berkeley Business School in NY. He was one of the managers. He was sociable and a great conversationalist. There is no other place I would want to stay in NYC other than The Wallace. read more

This is an overdue rave review for The Wallace. Before our trip to NY, I scoured the internet for a hotel that would meet the requirements of two extremely picky people, one of whom needed extreme quiet. It's been a couple of years now since our trip and we still remember how great The Wallace was. What was so great? Most importantly, The Wallace was very clean and very quiet. The rooms felt like luxurious sanctuaries. Throughout our stay (and even beforehand when we were booking our rooms) the staff was so kind and accommodating. When we arrived, we ran into a snag because one of our rooms was near some outside construction. The hotel promptly swapped this for a room on the other side of the building. We had all the amenities we needed - lots of water, a microwave and so on. Wi-fi was great. Receiving food deliveries was easy. The hotel is just a few blocks from Central Park and there's a subway stop very close by. Whenever I'm next in New York, I will be staying at The Wallace - no question. read more

Upon arriving from the concert around 2am the concierge personally walked them to a pizza place on 72nd street that he knew would be still open. Came up to visit our daughter who lives in the area. Warmly met by Angel at front desk and checking in was seamless. We had a king jr suite that was perfect for us. First off it looks brand new and whoever designed it did a great job with a lot of thoughtful nuances. Two large screen TVs hang in the bedroom and living area with option for chromecast which we actually used to watch one of the baseball playoff games. There is a "bar" area with sink and fridge. There is a hot pot provided to heat water for tea and a nespresso machine. Fridge with two water bottles provided. Plenty of storage space. Lighting is very cool and all automated by switches on the wall. The shades in both rooms are also automated. If you want privacy, you click the button and your doorbell turns red indicating you don't want to be disturbed. Conversely another click and doorbell turns green to indicate you want housekeeping to turn down your room. Housekeeping did a great job. Bathroom was beautiful and really up to date with a large shower stall including a rainfall shower head and a hand held shower head. Looked very sleek. Lighting around mirror and also a nightlight option were nice touches and appreciated. Room was quiet and nice and relaxing after running around in nyc during the day. It's close to Central Park. Mattress was very comfortable. We did not use room service. It sounds like it's an outside service. Not sure it's on the premises. Front desk were warm and friendly and always were able to get a cab for us within minutes. Only negative was I wish they had a regular coffee machine in the room. I don't think you can assume everyone likes expresso. Also directions for its use should be included. Offering coffee in the lobby could be an option I will definitely return as we enjoyed our experience at this hotel. read more

From the front desk to the room and kind people that work here , everything was wonderful , we only stayed one night but if we have to venture back to the city we will definitely look into staying here again . It is a very interesting neighborhood with so many neat shops from shoe fixing, lamp mending, barbers , paper card stores, old school storefronts & really gorgeous architecture that make every neighborhood thrive . Also we walked to dinner and Crumbl & saw the Dakota nearby too.. it is wonderful to stay here for all the reasons you want to see the city , we had a medical visit and glad we chose here to stay while we attended to that. There is also a beautiful looking bar type lounge on site that is open everyday -people looking like they are having fun and great music. We didn't go but it was nice to come in and hear everyone having fun ! read more

Here's a question: How does The Wallace attract such a wonderful group of people for the hospitality staff? Betty, Elvia, Durrell, JaySean, Greg and many others were so welcoming and helpful. They made our stay the best we've ever had in New York. Our room was comfortable, logically furnished and spotlessly clean. (Thanks, Elvia!) We used the gym, which was well-equipped and maintained, every day. The lounge, with live music on the weekends, is a great place to relax and end the day. As for location, we loved walking to the American Museum of Natural History and Central Park, and the proximity to the 1,2 and 3 lines made getting around Manhattan a breeze. This classy hotel opened THREE DAYS AGO.  I quite possibly was the first person to sleep in the comfortable but small room I got this weekend at the Wallace.  It has been renovated and is new and spiffy-clean, quiet, modern, and elegant (A+ for the herringbone lobby floor).  The design of my room is clean and practical, there are outlets where I want them, ideal light switch placement, a comfortable sturdy bed and pillows, a gorgeous bathroom and rainforest shower, and sparkling clean. Three days old!  The staff was helpful and hard-working.  Before I checked in, I called and experienced extreme kindness when I explained that I was already in the neighborhood with my luggage (it was 9am; check-in was at 3pm) and wanted to know if I could drop off my suitcases in the luggage room until later in the day.  No problem, the receptionist said, and when I got there a half hour later she'd already made out luggage tags with my name on them and had been expecting me.  If my room had been empty, she would have given it to me then and there.  (It wasn't, sadly). The hotel has a simple and elegant decor that isn't trying too hard, or perhaps they still have a few paintings to hang, either way it was classy.  I wish the room had been cheaper -- this was an expensive sleep -- but ah, NYC, this was a pleasant stay. read more

The devil is in the details. Smart, chic, and trendy decor. Nespresso machines in every room. Two (not just one), two Peloton bikes in a gym with all the free weights and cable machines anyone other than a professional body builder could ever need. An in-shower ledge in the stunning marble adorned bathroom on which one can comfortably shave their legs (Peloton cycling does not require shaved legs so I'm good). The soon-to-open lounge will undoubtedly carry the same swagger that already has made this one of my/our favorites go-to hotels, not just on the Upper West Side, but in all of Manhattan. Rumor has it that more amenities are planned, but I'm not sure how they're going to top what they've done in the short time since The Wallace opened in 2021. This place is a must if you are looking for an upscale trendy boutique hotel that is friendly, warm, and inviting. read more

Wow. Where do I start? This place is a godsend for the Upper West Side of NYC. The staff is wonderful and friendly, the bar is awesome (quiet and very comfortable) with live singing all three weekend nights that we were there. The rooms leave nothing to chance and are very spacious (even the smaller suites). Comfortable beds, newer everything and the hotel is very quiet. We loved both the traditional and colonial decor of the hotel, and it combined these two styles impeccably. All we can say is we truly look forward to our next stay. For years while visiting NYC we relied on other hotels but they were all hit and miss. The Wallace Hotel has become our go-to place to stay when in the city. This location is perfect. Kudos to the management and to the employees. We literally can't wait to come back to it. read more

Absolutely top notch. Super clean. Excellent water pressure. Amenities are real amenities, like the hairdryer is an actual hairdryer. No carpeting, which is a huge plus in my book. Easy temperature control. Quiet rooms. Love the Nespresso in the rooms. Such a life-saver. First-rate staff as they were friendly and communicative while maintaining professionalism. Location is perfectly nestled on a side street from Broadway, so easily accessible to so much with the plus of having some quiet. There was only one negative and it was a huffy server in the lounge of the hotel who was upset we were visiting with family while he was trying to "open"/get ready for happy hour. Like chill out dude, time to zoom out from your micro-world and see we're guests of the property and understand this is what hotel lounges are for. All the other staff are great. First impression is that this is a gorgeous renovation. From the lobby to the rooms, lots of attention to detail and quality. Service was flawless; front desk was efficient and pleasant, any request was filled promptly. Even housekeeping was thorough in cleaning the room, something I still don't see with most places post covid. King jr suite. One room with seating area including couch and chair, small dining table, fridge and wet bar. Comfortable size. Windows open. TV set up for chromecast, a nice touch that should be much more common at hotels than it currently is. Decent amount of storage space. No towel rack for hand towel, but could drape over tub pretty conveniently. Hook for robe and bath towels, and lots of extra towels provided. They advertise room service, but it was not actually available during our stay. They said that their third party provider had suddenly gone out of business. There's not even coffee service in the lobby mornings. There's an espresso maker in the room, but that's it. Nice space for a lobby bar, but still no actual bar, months after opening. So at this point the Wallace is far from a full service hotel, but still charges full service luxury prices. We decided not to stay there again until we know that they at least provide room service and the bar is open. Being generous with 4 stars based on how attractive the hotel is and how consistent the service was, but we found another nearby hotel for our next trip. read more

I have stayed her 3 times since my daughter started college in the last few months. So lovely! Very comfortable rooms, bedding is really top tire. Staff is exceptional and friendly. Sort of give patrons the feeling of having a boutique apt with a friendly staff around vs a typical touristy NYC Hotel chain. Great food right out the front door(walkable). AND there is even street parking if needed with in a block or two. Fantastic location and subway very close by to quickly get to other neighborhoods. Very European style rooms. Clean, sleek, great bathroom fixtures, extremely thoughtful lighting, pretty quiet- and comfortable beds. Would have liked a chair in our suite. Only a couch in the sitting room. (Queen suite). Wildly different pricing depending on the night. They really do adjust based on demand. Elevator is wickedly slow- and no real room service. But the housekeeping is excellent, and friendly. And they accomodated a late request for making the bed and providing fresh towels. Much nicer than other hotels on the Upper West Side. Now I rarely rate hotels on Yelp and just in general, rarely hand out 5 stars. For the Wallace, I felt inclined to do so simply because the stay was just that welcoming and it not only matched our expectation, but exceeded it. We live In New York and hotels options are plenty to choose from. My wife wanted to stay somewhere by the Upper West Side and we somewhat were looking at this place and 2 other hotels. I decided to call Wallace hotel up directly and spoke to a gentleman named Emar. He started talking to me about the hotel and was extremely gracious, helpful, and gave me helpful tips on parking that I was so enamored and booked right there on the spot with him on the phone. He truly turned the tide and made me felt excited about staying here. We booked one night stay at the 1 bedroom double queen size which measured about 485 sq feet. It has a bedroom along with an adjoining living room space and made very good use of the sq ft for sure. We just loved how smart the room is raning from customizable lighting to electronic controlled shades in both the bedroom and living room. Ability to cast personal device such as a phone to the TV are a huge plus. Rarely do hotels offer this feature and being a techie myself, I was glad to see this addition and for all non-technies out there, it is quite simple as the tv shows you easy step prompts on how to do so. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom is immaculate and amazing with both overhead showerhead and the conventional wall adjustable head. Heck, they even have 2 sets of bath robes and slippers complimentary along with 2 bottles of water, and some light snacks. Lastly, our sleep was so amazingly quiet given this hotel is situated in a residential neighborhood which is a plus. Yes it's a tad pricey but if you are going to spend that money in New York, might as well do it at a hotel that will match your expectation given the experience itself. I stayed at the Wallace in June 2022. I'm actually back in NYC this week, staying at another hotel that didn't turn out to be as nice, and wishing I was at the Wallace now. We stayed in a suite that had a wet bar, living room, and bedroom for 2 weeks. The rooms felt new and immaculately clean. Surprisingly, we didn't experience any street noise from the 8th floor. The staff was always lovely and accommodating. We brought our chihuahua mix, who was very welcomed by the staff. Location: being close to Central Park and fun activities were obviously awesome. Neighborhood grocery shops were kind of a miss, between Fairway's limited selection or getting in the 1 hr long line at Trader Joe's. Food: I was actually pretty disappointed in the nearby food options. We ended up going to Daily Provisions almost twice a day or straight up leaving the UWS a lot because the neighborhood food we tried was just okay. read more

Amazing stay! I booked my family and friends accommodations here for my 30th birthday weekend. Newer hotel in a quiet residential neighborhood with lots of shopping, food and Central Park nearby in walking distance. There's also nightlife (bars/lounges) a couple blocks away. For our room in particular (Superior Queen) was more than enough to accommodate 2 adults and 2 dogs. Check-in was smooth and the in-room amenities were great! Lots of closet and drawer space and beautiful spacious bathroom. There's a gym, no hotel bar just yet but you can see in the lobby where that'd be located when the time comes. Staff was friendly and extremely accommodating! I will say I expected the elevators to operate and move a little faster since it's a newer hotel but that's minor. Overall a quaint and comfy hotel when you want to be comfortable and at peace at the end of your nights out. read more

I used my Capital One Venture X points for a two-night stay at this hotel. I was very excited because when I have used my Amex points for hotel stays in NYC (admittedly, at the Ritz NoMad), the experience was always outstanding. Well, I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with my experience at The Wallace. First, let me say that I was happy with the hotel's location. The happiness ends there. I pulled up to the hotel entrance (I drove) and there was no doorman, no valet. I had to park my car in front of the hotel and drag my luggage in to the lobby before take care of my car in a nearby garage (for a discounted price because I was a guest of the Wallace). I was placed in a room on the lobby floor (1st floor), which was weird but the receptionist (who also doubled as the doorman/valet) told me that was the only room available. Not only was the room on the 1st floor (ice was only available on the 8th floor), but it was the ADA room. I'm in support for ADA rooms, but I prefer my very expensive hotel stay to not be an ADA room. The bathroom was a bummer, with very little counterspace and the shower -- I wasn't sure the shower would drain based on its design. My daughters and I did NOT shower during our stay because we felt it would get the entire bathroom wet. The room itself was super dark -- I don't know if this is because of the intentional lighting, or it being on the ground floor -- I couldn't tell if it was day time or night time. Then, it was so loud. We could hear the live/recorded music all afternoon and well into the evening. We could hear conversations at the elevator banks. We could hear staff conversations as they entered/exited the staff rooms, right next to us. The service at the hotel was OK -- we got many apologies for the noise in the room and the bummer of a bathroom but we were assured mulitple times that there were no other options and that there was nothing anyone can do. I guess it is my fault that I didn't think to call the hotel before I arrived to make sure that I was not in an ADA room. This is something I will do now on a go forward basis because as a customer, I have a choice. This was a very expensive hotel stay for us -- just because I used my credit card points doesn't mean I should get the worst room in the hotel. I have a CHOICE on where/how/when to use my credit card points. And I WILL NOT EVER use them at the Wallace Hotel nor will I ever go back. Shame, though, because I really liked the location. read more

Wow! Out of our stay in the northeast... the two nights at the Wallace were the highlight! The room was like a luxury apartment as much as a hotel! Brand new and every detail perfect. They are newly opened after a thorough remodel. This worried me a little until we arrived. Customer service was the best we experienced anywhere in NY! Visiting NY from Miami. Stayed at 2 different hotels over 2 days. When i arrived at The Wallace i was greeted by the LOVELY night manager, Melveta...she was sweet as pie and SUPER cool. Melveta actually showed me to my room!!!! I booked the one bed room suite and it was huge and BEAUTIFUL. The decor is done with such classic detail with a cozy feel. I worked from the living room all day. Was so comfortable that i forgot where i was. Its extremely quiet. Slept like a baby. I come to NY once a month and this will be my new home away from home! Many First Class hotels can actually let you down when you arrive and discover the litany of problems hotels can have. The Wallace was absolutely NOT one of these. From start to finish, they were truly excellent. Things in the bedroom ALL worked right. The staff were universally superb: friendly, helpful, well-trained to actually solve things, and were clearly proud to be part of their team. That made a real difference. Apparently, the hotel is owned locally, and the owner is regularly on-site. That clearly helps. The property is well-appointed. The amenities pleasant and useful. The Lounge has the "all white" color theme thing going, but is very comfortable and tastefully appointed. When the bar is not open, you can still sit in there. It is a very nice refuge from the City outside. Though there is no dining in-house, there is a great little French breakfast place 1/4 block away on Broadway: Le Pain Quotidien. You are also about 1.5 blocks away from two of the best supermarkets in The City: Fairway and Citarella. If you want it, they likely have it. ONE TIP: You need to know you have to use your hotel key-card to unlock the controls inside the elevator. Mine did not always work. (This seems a very common problem in modern hotels, not just here.) But, the front-desk staff were happy to help. TIP: Jam your key-card totally flat against the panel just under the elevator buttons in the elevator, and swirl it around for 5 seconds. That seemed to do it. I have now stayed at other properties nearby within 2-3 blocks of The Wallace. The interior, the friendly staff, the professionalism, the fact everything works, and the classy style have left me feeling The Wallace is my first choice. I would gladly return there again. read more

This hotel is an absolute gem. The location in Upper West side is quiet but still central to so many sites. The decor is stunning. We hung out in the lounge lobby area just taking in the ambiance, and the smell! Omg the candle smell is mmmmm. The staff, every single person was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. From the door men to the housekeeping staff, ever person was so gracious. And to the fabulous gentleman in the sharp light blue suit who greeted us with warm fresh towels after we got stuck in the down pouring rain lightning and thunder, thank you so so much.
