By far the most affordable record store in town if you're on a budget. Whenever I want to find a new record I go to Vinyl Diner and have the owner order it for me. Often times it can be cheaper than online!! The owner and staff is always kind, respectful, and knowledgeable of all kinds of music!

The main…read morefloor has a lot of china, collectibles, etc. I love vintage glassware and they had a decent selection of this too, but it was slightly out of my price range. I was browsing with other people in tow and I think I'd prefer to return by myself, as I'd like to spend more time here. Be aware that it's crowded and I'd not recommend bringing a large purse inside or kids. The owners have another business inside the shop called Back to Coffee Beans, which sells coffee, tea, syrups, etc. You can also purchase a beverage and other sweets while you're there but they don't have a sit down area.

I was excited to see that Westgate books was not closed forever and had a brand new location. They…read moreare, as far as I've seen, one of only a minimal number of used book stores left in the city. However there have been a few changes aside from the new store. The most predominate change is that their large inventory consists only of one title: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. That's right, folks. The most intellectually fossillizing piece of literature from this side of the galaxy. Working the till was a young man with long, blonde hair who probably owns too many Sublime t-shirts. Curious, I asked him where all the other books, to which he replied "Other books?". "Yes" I said with my eye-brows closing in on each other, "Like Othello, The Bible, Pride and Prejudice?"his only reply was a blank stare. Whether the ignorance is willful or the product of a profound miseducation, it appears that the staff of Westgate Books has no other knowledge of any other form of printed literature that has come into existence, ever. Finally he came back to the conversation, overcoming his own mental exhaustion and said 'Don't worry, "when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it."'reciting the idiotic pablum that is the thesis of spiritual-egotism found in The Alchemist. The only thing left for me to do was to weep for this poor wretch and prayed that God would have mercy on his poor rodent-like soul. Also, it's kind of expensive for a used book store and they argue with their customers.

I found this store while aimlessly strolling down Broadway with my daughters on a sunny Friday…read moreafternoon. We were visiting from out-of-country and wanted to get a flavor for the city. We decided to pop in and browse after seeing a 20% off end-of-summer sale. First off, the store carries both men's and women's hats, which in my experience, is rare. They also carry all kinds of hats: fedoras, panamas, newsboy, wide brim, straw and more. Despite the wide selection, the store wasn't overwhelming but nicely organized and the inventory was easy to see at a glance. There was one person working; I think her name was Deb. She was very helpful and knowledgeable about everything in the store. I was interested in a wide brim straw women's hat; she brought it down off the wall for me to try on and told me where it was made and the material it was made of. She showed me other similar hats which I also really loved. I ended up buying two hats and I've been so happy with them. The prices were lower than I expected. I ended up paying $89.99 and $159.99 (before the 20% off) for two hats; considering the construction and material quality, I expected to pay much more. I paid $175 for a high-quality straw Panama hat in the United States and I'd say the quality and craftsmanship of the two hats I bought in Saskatoon is comparable. I really loved this store. It carries a wide selection of high quality hats at low prices. Honestly, I was quite surprised to find this gem of a store in Saskatoon. It beats many hat stores I've seen in much larger cities. Saskatoon is very lucky to have this caliber of hat store and next time I'm in town, I will definitely drop in!
