This is a beautiful, historic building with exposed brick walls, original hardwood flooring, exposed beams and tons of charm! The entrance can be found on Ottis F. Jones Parkway, and is on the backside of the building on Person St. near the historic Market House. There is plenty of convenient and free parking as well as a handicapped ramp that is very handy. What an absolute waste of a five day stay and money. Thursday, upon arrival, it was hot as hell in the camper, no air had been turned on, the water was turned off, the commode didn't work and the cable had been disconnected. The owners cousin was very accommodating and offered us a refund for Thursday night and offered us a cabin, I didn't want to relocate as we had just put all the food up and (I had major surgery and it was hard to be ambulatory), so, we stayed. Three/four men came over to repair all the things that were wrong with Pecan Grove Cabin. No attention had been given to this cabin with paying guest arriving at 3 p.m. The outside of the cabin was just as bad. The two chairs and table were full of cob webs and tree debris, no pictures were taken to memoralize this time together, which further adds negative fuel to this pitiful cabin. Finally, music was piped through the ranch until 11:30 p.m. on Friday, but, quiet time is posted at 11:00. It was rude, way too loud and intrusive. Why? There were no visitors after 9, no respect for your guest. It was a horrible stay at Sweet Valley Ranch and Pecan Grove Cabin. Mr. and Mrs. Surgeon, we were more than saddened and disappointed by our stay at your Ranch. Our whole 5 days should have been comped. Guest BE WARE!

The Poe House is next door to the Museum of Cape Fear and that is where to sign up for your tour…read moreand where the tour starts. A volunteer takes you through the house of E. A. and Josephine Poe. Mr. Poe owned Poe Brick Company. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is currently getting some much needed maintenance and painting done so make sure to check in advance if it will be open the day you want to visit. The guided tour takes about an hour. The house is a Victorian Style and built from a kit. The wrap around porch and the intricate detailing outside is impressive. The inside of the house is in great condition and has tall ceilings; wide doors and the woodwork is very impressive. It gives a glimpse into early 20th century life. The house has two staircases one for the family and another for the servants. The servants were provided living quarters. The kitchen is detached from the house as the oven was on all day. I highly recommend visiting this beautiful house.
