This independent music news magazine is distributed from eastern to western North Carolina. You can stay abreast of all the concerts & festivals going on all over the state for Indy bands. They've got up close and personal interviews with artist like Tim Thomas, AKA, "Speech" from Arrested Development, other interviews, like with popular heavy metal band from L.A., DROID, CD reviews, Video game reviews and advice from a mule "Dr. Jackaz", which is sometimes quite funny. read more

The Charlotte Post was founded in 1878 and is a weekly newspaper published here in Charlotte North…read moreCarolina. It is minority-owned and operated, and positions itself, according to their own "about" page as "a leading provider of news, information and entertainment from a black perspective." The masthead says "The Voice of the Black Community." It is distributed in dark green newspaper boxes and is free. Most of the boxes are in Uptown Charlotte and, according to wikipedia, primarily in African-American neighborhoods. Its circulation is 22,305. This week's newspaper is sixteen pages with the above-the-fold headline and photo of North Carolina's new Lieutenant Governor-elect, Mark Robinson. Robinson is a Republican, which presents certain challenges when the Governor is a Democrat. And the Post provides a great amount of ink to discuss. The Life section is timely with a holiday menu and recipes and lifestyle stories, yes, from a black perspective. It's an interesting newspaper and I'll be looking for it in my travels so that I can round out my news input. [Review 14339 overall, 1663 of 2020, number 2706 in North Carolina.]

There's many individuals advertising things for sale. Also a lot of businesses advertise. There's stories of interest to please anyone. If anyone in Cherokee County, S.C. feels the urge to do a little shopping in North Carolina, this would act like a roadmap to your destination. This is a nice idea that draws a portion of local commerce elsewhere.
