Terrible service by the Rheumatology assistant to make an appointment. The treatment is truly awful. I recommend looking for another doctor and another clinic that has a TERRIBLE rheumatology service. They do not give you a solution even though you are paying a lot. I highly recommend that you do not go to this clinic. read more

I went to Vanderbilt for a prostate biopsy in 2020, and as a result, was hospitalized for 3 days with a blood infection (sepsis). After getting released, I developed residual pain that 2 different Vanderbilt urology providers couldn't explain. One of the two was especially dismissive, sending me away without arranging any exploratory treatment. He told me he didn't think I had anything serious. It turned out my condition was quite serious. My prostate was infected--I found this out only after going to the head of the clinic and requesting that he use a scope to see what was going on. The head of the clinic then prescribed a short round of antibiotics, which helped somewhat, but some pain still lingered on for months and months. I finally went to an outside physician and learned that my condition is called "prostatitis" and that there are clinics/physical therapy to help. News to me! I had never heard about any such therapy from the Vanderbilt Clinic (although by now 4 years had passed since my original infection). To make matters worse, I read on Johns Hopkins website that 4-12 weeks of low-dose antibiotics are recommended to treat my condition, yet I had never been been prescribed more than 7-10 days of antibiotics by Vanderbilt. I felt really confused and concerned. Now I am on the long-term antibiotic treatment that Johns Hopkins recommends and hope that I will eventually get better. I had always had a great experience in other Vanderbilt departments, and am amazed that the Urology clinic didn't listen to me or seem to care. read more

I'm not really sure how to rate this place. I come here mainly for blood work after my GI doctors appointment. I've also had to do some radiology scans here too. The clinic is huge. I spend most of my time on the first floor around the courtyard, that is where the patient lab is. The wait time for the different services I've used here isn't usually long. I had to wait about ten minutes last time to get some blood work done. One of my complaints is the front desk staff can sometimes be very curt. I think a lot of them seem like they don't enjoy doing their jobs and it shows. There isn't anyone that is overly friendly. I know that they deal with tons of people all day, but I wished they were a little more welcoming. read more

Dr, Issacs cares and wants to help. I'm so glad we found out about him and the amazing work he does!! He is truly an amazing doctor and this place is where anyone who needs a good doctor should come. I was in there over 2weeks and everyone gave me excellent care , the RN 's on the 7th ( where I was, )are so polite and caring. I felt very sure I was being taking care of 100 percent, I always felt very safe in the hands of all the doctors!!! The staff is excellent form top to bottom!!! My pcp had prescribed an antibiotic for a uti. After a couple days the symptoms came back and my pcp was unavailable so I made an appointment with the Vandy clinic. The np for dr Penson told me I needed tests ($5K worth of tests) and no suggestions for dealing with the terrible symptoms. I ended up seeing my obgyn who gave me a different antibiotic and I was well by the next day. My complaint with Vandy was that they didn't listen to me, consider my general healthy state nor use common sense to determine the probable cause of my uti symptoms. read more

BEWARE! They never discussed pricing whatsoever with me. They didn't think it would be a good idea to let me know 30 minutes (if that) of physical therapy would be close to $400. They also thought it would be GREAT to wait for TWO MONTHS until sending me the first bill. Now I'm in debt almost $2000 for physical therapy that didn't do jacks*** for my back. Be wise. Spend your money on 2 years worth of yoga instead of this service that did virtually nothing for me. In my opinion, a despicable way of doing business. read more

Let me just start by confessing that I am a little bitter. Dr. Valerie Jansen (sp?) was my physician there. If I remember correctly, she was/is a second-year resident. There was absolutely NO issue with her. She was very thorough, and respected my wishes and appreciated my concerns. I explained to her, at that time, that I seem to have a HUGE genetic predisposition to autoimmune diseases. MOST of the women in my paternal family have one of one type, or another. I saw Dr. J. as I'd experienced some odd symptoms a couple of weeks prior. Feeling that my number had finally been drawn, I asked her to test my anti-nuclear antibody...which she did, and it was elevated; for the first time in my life. Fast-forwarding to my experience with our rising-star fellow, Dr. Bla bla bla (sports medicine. Yah, I know your name, but I'll spare you). Sorry, dude. As dumb as you seemed to think that I was, I do understand the difference between your level, and the resident who seemed to actually GET what I was conveying to her...while it breezed right through your freshly gelled hair. I got the...misfortune of being your patient, in early November. I thought that I had dislocated my clavicle, but didn't believe that it was still displaced. Regardless you ordered, I thought, ONE x-ray, which ended up being at least 5. And I understand that you were simply trying to educate the resident, who seemed genuinely interested in treating me in a more holistic fashion. I came that day, also with the intention of perhaps being referred to a rheumatologist, or another specialist, who might understand why I was having all these bizarre symptoms. You looked and talked to me as if I were a wall-eyed inbred. Yes, "your ANA is elevated, but isn't off the charts". "I can refer you, if you feel it's necessary." Then, I began to question my own sanity. You offered me pain medicine. Nope...didn't come for that. You offered me a sling because "you get" that the boss needs to see evidence of injury. You've treated some interesting patients, clearly. Well...since you havn't followed up with me, I thought that I would follow up with you. I want to CONGRATULATE you on sticking strictly with your specialty, and not touching what you either slept through, or have COMPLETELY forgotten since medical school. I awoke almost 2 weeks later (to the day of our pleasant exchange) to diminished sensation from my chest down. Guess what you missed....or did nothing to help me find? Multiple sclerosis. I've lost about 40 percent of the sensation in my hands. I'm losing sight in my left eye. I'm receiving 5 days of solu-medrol home IV infusions, due to an excruciating flare...since my" ANA wasn't off the chart". I will have to give myself Copaxone injections, 7 days a week...as you know (or probably don't)...indefinitely. I have an MS lesion on my spinal cord (about C-2), 13 oligoclonal bands were found in my lumbar puncture...probable optic neuritis. For the time being, I cannot walk unassisted. I'm 36 years old, man. Are you proud of your arrogance? Stick with sports medicine, because you truly seem ignorant, or rather, apathetic about anything else. I find myself wondering how many patients you have sent home to their deaths or disabilities, because it didn't fit into the compartments you have so neatly stacked into your.....mind. Kudos to your resident. I saw a light bulb go off in her head when I mentioned the ANA to her. It's my opinion, that you should NOT be teaching. And I will still have to pay for those unnecessary x-rays that you shot. And, I will have to pay for your "consulation and expertise". Dr. Jock...I sat in the chair and told you that I had one family member who'd died of scleroderma. (Have sense discovered a second living relative with scleroderma). Two who had rhematoid arthritis. At least one with hyperthyroidism. I had an elevated ANA, with weird symptoms, and SEVERAL female family members, on my paternal side with autoimmune diseases. I'm at a much lower level in health care than you, and this would have prompted red flags in my mind. Well, it did in two resident's minds...but it completely took flight from yours. I probably shouldn't write this while I'm this angry and bitter, but with the popular sports analogy: you dropped the ball on this one. I'm sure that you're awesome with torn ACL patients. But something that SCREAMS autoimmune disease is lost on you. Thank you again, Dr. Jansen. I won't be returning because of Dr. Jock. It has nothing to do with you. read more

Vanderbilt....the name has power...indeed. Great doctors with great backgrounds! The urology department was voted best in America...So no brainer, right? You want the best for your loved one, correct? So you think Vanderbilt! Here is where that is wrong. The best isn't just what they can do or lives they can save. Best is making sure you take care of your patient, not ignore them by not returning calls, and not treating a patient like he doesn't need you because he has many others!!! The staff is horrible, their phone system is horrible! Why have a number to push for the nurses station when they never answer it and it throws you back up to scheduling? Oh, and plan to be on hold from 15mins-20mins! The one nurse calls me after my dads visit asking me what doctors the doctor he saw there at Vanderbilt wanted him to see. Umm..why don't you know this? Then asking me why the doctor at Vanderbilt wanted him to see these doctors? Asking me who this doctor was he saw before when everything was there in his chart we filled out! She proceeds to tell me to contact his heart doctor back home to rush them on getting his medical file together, so when they faxed the medical release form they would get them right away. You know what? That was a week ago and they still haven't faxed them the medical release form, but make me rush them. For what? The doc at Vanderbilt said he would speak with his heart doctor, guess what, it's been 3 weeks and he never did!!! I called and asked for his doctor to contact us, I am still waiting for his call and it's been over 2 weeks and NO return call. He has cancer, let's take our time shall we so it could spread more!!! My dad started having complications, I called them telling them if they couldn't move up his one appointment from the 24th, we would have to find another doctor. Wanda, his nurse calls me laughing being arrogant and says the doctor moved it up to the 19th as he felt he should be seen sooner!! HE FELT???? I called and demanded it, the 19th isn't sooner, and who gives her the right to laugh and be arrogant with me when my father is battling cancer???? Not to mention a test they said takes 3 days for a result, well they never called us to tell us, I called them 10-11 days later asking where are the results????? I will say this, the doctor is good, and 2 nurses were very good there (one of them just started) if I was dealing with the nurse he saw in the room getting his file together I would of loved this place. If the doctor returned my call and offered more concern I would stay here. However, his staff made me dislike Vanderbilt. IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A OUTSTANDING HOSPITAL AND DOCTORS, THEN HIRE A OUTSTANDING TEAM OF NURSES AND STAFF, BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T CARE HOW GOOD THE DOCTOR IS IF THE STAFF TREATS THEM HORRIBLY.... read more

Great place with staff who want to help you with a smile on their face. I came here when I was undergoing chemo and radiation therapy for throat cancer. All my doctors have been excellent and extremely friendly. It's nice to have people who are so friendly to you when you're not really feeling the greatest. There are absolutely 0 nurse ratchets around here. read more
