I ship at his location 3-4 times a week every week. They go out of their way to be helpful especially is I am running late due to traffic since I have to drive 35 minutes to get to them to overnight my express envelopes. I have been extremely pleased over the last two years of their consistency even with new employees. I called this Staples store and asked for the UPS department. I asked the person that answered if I could do a Amazon return that required UPS drop off. He said yes if it has a QR code or yes if you have a printed label. When I arrived, the same young man told me I had to go to the front desk because he couldn't do a UPS return. When I went to the front desk, they told me they couldn't take it. I had to take it to UPS. On top of that the young man at the front desk was extremely dismissive of me. UPS staff very rude. Took three amazon boxes to return they were in a cardboard box, they were taped up, and ready to go. The so called manager told me I was required to return in original box. I let him know that is was the original box, after flipping the box around he stated that not only did i need that box, but I would need another box and then tried to sell me a box. Once I got I asked my son if he had the original outside box, and he stated that was how they came. When I told him so called manager stated they had no UPS label from them shipping to us, and he stated a course they didn't because he removed all labels as instructed. I have contacted Amazon and according to them as long as it is sealed in a box that is fine. I tried to get Steve the owner's number and he refused to give it to. (so if you read these reviews Steve please contact me). This is not the first time I have had problems with this store. Every time I try to return something from amazon they turn a simple drop off item to a major ordeal. It's as if they me coming into the store and asking them to do there job is a inconvenience to them. I have returned some items to staples, and some to whole foods, and each time I walk in and walk out everything is taken care of in seconds. Two weeks straight. One day only one clerk. Today lines out door into parking lot, no where to park. Packages piled up behind the counter, on teh counters, on the floor and every nook and cranny possible. 25,000 UVA students just flooded our town but apparently the UPS store is unaware. One - Three clerks can not service our population on any day at any time. Cruel to your employees and not customer friendly. My experience is mixed. Some very quick and friendly staff (woman). Also I've had the experience of being totally blown off and ripped off A couple of times by a man that works there. Apparently I needed a box or envelope for my return item, he said "oh I'll grab you some thing from the back" I said OK thank you. Then he rings me up and charges me $10 for the box. Terrible experience. They overcharged me for shipping a bicycle, adding 100 lbs to make the shipping weight 130 lbs instead of its actual 30 lb weight. I noticed the overcharge on the receipt and returned to the store to tell them I wanted my bike back so I could take it elsewhere to ship. The store owner said I couldn't have it back, he had shipped it early, and I would have to pay for return shipping if I wanted it back. On top of that, when I finally got it back, he charged me $30 for a "storage" fee. The UPS Store is a franchise, so there is essentially no remedy when the business screws you over. Admittedly, there are not too many options for shipping in C'Ville, but if you have any other choice, go with the alternative to this unprofessional, rude, and dishonest business. read more

I make it a point to use this UPS store anytime that I need something shipped, or even if I just need some sort of paperwork done - i.e. copying, printing, etc. They are consistently very kind and very helpful. The associates know their equipment well, and will make it a point to ensure that their customers get what they're looking for. They do have specialized equipment, such as a plotter (think printing big maps, signs, etc.) and pretty much anything else that you may need. They will pack and ship anything that you may need. Also, they're more than happy to lay out the different shipping options with you - telling you how long it'll take to get there, s well as how much it'll cost. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this store to anyone. I don't understand the negative complaints on here, as all of the associates there are stellar, very polite, and extremely helpful! read more

I had them pick up a lot of items i won from a local auction there and had them ship to me. They sat on my items for 4 days before shipping them. Once they shipped, MOST of the items were sent, but lost or kept over 5 thousand dollars worth of camera equipment. When i tried to recoup some funds for their errors, they basically told me too bad and didnt pay me a dime. Owner told me only 2 employees, but i spoke with 3 different people there. SCAMMERS!!! I also make it a point to use this facility as well. I try to stay away from the one on 34445 seminole trail (Store #3344); horrible service and very slow. My last visit there, the female customer representative was not very cordial and came off short. Been there two times before that and same bad service. Went there this last time as it was convenient to work and thought maybe I would have a different outcome this time around. Nope, I was wrong and never again going there. This place, the Manager and his team are always prompt to serve you and very quick in processing my transactions. I've been there seven (7) times in the last month and every time I get the same great service. I have a few more trips to make there and I feel assure my packages will get taken well care of. It's been a mixed bag here. I don't ever really have a problem using this store, but, today, I went in while they were busy. Instead of saying something remotely polite when there were too many people in the store, the lady yelled out to the line of people that there's a sign on the door that they can only have 5 people in there and some people need to get out (I glanced back at the door and didn't notice it on my way out, even after I knew it existed btw). I lived in California, so this was nowhere near the rudest an employee has been to me at a store, but then, when I asked if it would be helpful if I just left my pre-labeled Amazon return on the counter and left, she said, "sure...we'll get to when we get to it," with a nice little eye roll. I would have let this go but it kept bugging me that my package wasn't marked as scanned on Amazon. I called just now, about 5 hours later, because I was worried maybe somebody snagged it off the unattended counter, and the man who answered seemed annoyed that I was asking about it and wouldn't just check to see if the label was scanned (I still had the label in my email to give the numbers). He never said he couldn't, just brushed me off and said everything they had sitting at the first register has been scanned and that Amazon could update 2 hours to 2 weeks after it's scanned. Soo I'm writing a 3 star review. Maybe it'll go up, maybe it'll go down, we'll see if my return ever makes its way back to Amazon. Pretty solid 2 star service mixed with 4 star reliability of UPS vs. other carriers. Further North on 29 there's another UPS store with slightly friendlier employees if you're headed that way...I will likely drive the extra couple miles next time. read more

I have dropped off amazon products at ups stores in four different ups stores in NoVa and Charlottesville. Having the printed return label there is no cost for returning Amazon products according to the amazon website. This ups store charges $1 for attaching your printed return label to the box. When I asked about the reason, the customer service guy responded there is no fee for return but you have to pay $1 for taping the label to box in a very rude manner. If you go to amazon site it says you have to pay $1 if they print the label for you in store. Otherwise no cost for dropping off. This is not the matter of money, but the mater of discipline! How this UPS store charges people for putting tape on the box and non of other UPS stores acting likewise... read more

As many things are, this visit was a mixed bag. Far from home, I had to drop ship an Amazon car part there to "guarantee" it would be available for my repair. It wasn't there, it was there...ultimately it was there and I got it. The store came through in the end, which is all that matters. Contrary to what is stated on its website, this UPS Store does NOT notarize wills. My wife and I made an appointment online and indicated that it was to have our wills notarized. However, when we arrived (including bringing 2 other people with us to act as witnesses), the notary public would not notarize our wills. He said that he had been trying for a long time to have the website changed but without success. The UPS Store's incorrect website, and its failure to notify us by email before we arrived for our appointment, created a major inconvenience and a waste of time for 4 people. read more

I have family in Charlottesville and visit often. I have been using this store since 1988 when it first opened and it has had the same owner the entire time. (The store was originally Mailboxes Etc. before it was converted to the UPS Store.) I have had them ship all kinds of items from very heavy to delicate. They have done a meticulous job of packing and I have not had one issue ever with anything breaking during shipment. This is a major achievement since I live in California! They also have great copying and printing services and have office supplies.The staff is always friendly and has the best service in C'Ville. Normally, I'm okay with sending stuff from here. I usually only come to drop off stuff for my work that came up after our UPS guy has passed for the day. Drop it off, no receipt, good to go. And when I have sent stuff in the past, I don't remember it being bad. Today was different. I went in with a few Christmas gifts to send in one package. One of these gifts was an 18 x 24 print in a posterboard frame (aka not glass). I perused the box selection in the back to figure out what would be the best size for these gifts. When I went up to the counter after being called, the guy who helped me was trying to do the math. Another woman came over to help him, and I stated that 1) this wasn't a frame with glass and 2) one of the other gifts could be pushed down if it made it taller, as it was a blanket. They decided on this behemoth of a box, a 30 x 26 x 10. My gifts looked teeny one inside. He started to input my information, and said that sending it ground would cost 50-something dollars. I was startled, because I was like, these gifts all together aren't that heavy, and I'm shipping ground, but I mean, maybe. I started to ask what are all the charges, and he mentioned because it was such a large package. I was skeptical, but almost gonna say, alright, sure. Then he mentioned that didn't include the packing materials, and with all of that, it would be close to $90. No. way. in. hell. this package should cost that much to send. It's not going to Timbuktu or anything, just some states away. So, I said I needed to think on it, and took my items back, peeved. After getting to work and scrounging around, I found a box that would fit the frame, and used a second box for the rest. All told, I'm paying just under $30 for something they quoted me for $50. Which is ridiculous. TL; DR--This place tried to sell me too big a box to protect my non-breakable large item to make the item get an oversized fee and charge me for more materials than I needed. This store delivers to Charlottesville on time every day but as for the surrounding counties, that the ups is supposed to deliver too, is ALWAYS late. I've never had a package arrive on time. I hope that the company will read all of these reviews to make their business better for the sake of everyone who wants their packages on time. Gifted a ScanCafe box to my parents for their anniversary. They overnighted them via UPS on Dec. 22. UPS claims it "delivered" them Dec. 27. 1) This is not overnight. 2) We've never seen them. When we call to complain to ScanCafe and UPS all they do is tell us that they WERE delivered...as if I can't tell the difference between having my package and not having my package. So now we have lost four generations of family photos. UPS also claims it delivered our Christmas presents from my aunt. Same deal. So, we're complaining and getting very little response. Mom tried to flag the driver down on the rural dirt roads, but he was driving so fast all she could do was try to get out of his way. Now, we're supposed to get some papers to take the complaint process up to the next level. The *same* driver left those papers in our mailbox with all these stars drawn on it saying, "sign here" next to the "I received my package" box. What an insane lack of integrity! I'm supposed to believe that this guy delivered my packages when this is how he handles that. I will never ship via UPS again and I want my packages. You've ruined Christmas AND lost heirlooms. The 1-star ratings for this store did not surprise me. I am traveling on a long-term trip and had two packages shipped to this store so I could pick up when I arrived. I was called and told the packages had arrived and there was a $5/day/package fee for them to hold them. I was not arriving in town for 4 days so $40 to get my packages out of UPS jail. It costs them nothing to hold them and when I called, they first claimed this was corporate policy but when I told them I had done this at other stores with no fee they then acknowledged it was an owner policy with no flexibility. I asked if I could forward the packages to another location and they said they would not take a credit card over the phone. They provided no options and their claim of "great customer service" on their website is inaccurate. I also had looked at their website before shipping the package to make sure they accepted packages and there is no mention of this fee on their site. A friend offered to drive 2 hours to pick the packages up for me but I refuse to pay this fee to a store that does not care for their customers so I had the packages returned to sender. read more

Horrible store. I went into this store at 2:30pm to send a package that was ready to go. It had the prepaid stickers on it. The woman working at the counter was extremely rude and refused to take the package, She said the pick up was already gone for the day. I asked if she would please take it and mail it the next day. She refused. I took the large box back home. The next time I came in, again attempting to ship this box. I mentioned to the manager how rudely I had been previously treated. He then said "oh it's you I heard about you". He then began to shout at me and insisted I had to pay an additional service charge. I again left with this very same box. I drove to the main UPS service center on Richmond Road. They immediately took the box and were very helpful. They said there is absolutely no service charge on prepaid packages and that this store is independently owned, not by UPS. So beware. read more
