The TT - great fun but in some ways is stuck in the dark ages where everyone stuffs their face with burgers and swills down beer. Would have been nice, as a vegetarian, to have more options than chips or cake - not even a single vegetable burger to be found in the whole grandstand area. Disappointing in this day and age to see places are still stuck back in the dark ages in terms of festival cuisine.
In addition, did struggle with the lack of signage around where you could and could not go to watch the races - for a newbie to the circuit, I didn't know where I could walk to, and where I would need other forms of transport. It would have been nice to have a map, to know how to get around the course in order to experience the TT in full, but I missed that memo. For a course that spans 37.5 miles, something like that would be extremely beneficial.
Otherwise, this is a mecca for motorcycling race enthusiasts, but you have to be patient - with a course spanning that far, there are long periods between seeing racers. Wrap up warm in layers, so you can strip off and on as the weather (frequently) dictates! read more
