Unfortunately my spray tan was so bad I had to go get another one somewhere else DIRECTLY after. That's the short version.... I was getting a spray tan for a huge performance event (and she knew this) but the tan hardly made me look any different and when I asked about that she replied, "well maybe if you got the rapid, but you got the classic" (I was never met with options) I then asked if it would get any darker she was responded "usually yeah but probably not, because of the body wash you use" The spray tan was splotchy from the get-go. She didn't go over me twice. She definitely missed some spots. I wasn't even dry when she told me I was good to get dressed again. She didn't walk me through any tips on the do's and dont's of spray tans. I had to pull teeth to even figure out how long until I could shower. SO CLEARLY AN UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER, but was still met with disdain, like my opinion was nothing to her anyway. So bizarre. I've never had a job in my life where I cared this little about a customers opinion of my service. Especially since I'm pretty sure it's her own salon. read more

I found The Tan Cabana through Instagram, I had been following for several months and finally decided to get spray tanned because Yelp Spring Break was right around the corner... ;) I called and was able to schedule an appointment for the following day (score)! Anna, the owner scheduled me and she was super sweet! She reminded me to come to my appointment shaved, showered, exfoliated and not to apply any lotions, creams or oils prior to arriving. The importance of this for those of you who haven't been spray tanned is that, any products on the skin can act as a barrier and block the spray tan from fully absorbing which can make for an uneven, or slower lasting tan. She also informed me to wear dark loose fitting clothing (some of the product can rub off after your tan). The location is off of 3rd Street and super convenient if you're in the Jacksonville Beach or Ponte Vedra Beach area. The individual room is within a building that also has esthetic services (facials, microdermabrasions, waxing etc) and hair stylists. Very female friendly! Upon arrival I was greeted with a warm welcome from Anna, the owner and operator. She inquired how dark/deep I wanted my tan to be and when we agreed on a deeper shade she informed me to undress to my comfort level. You can bring a bathing suit or underwear (the color black recommended) or you can get sprayed without anything on, (no tan lines if you choose this). The tan itself felt more like air then an actual spray of mist which I liked. Anna was extremely professional, quick and efficient. She talked me through each step and I was in and out in no time! It has been 2 weeks since my spray tan and I still have a hint of color which is incredible! I followed all of the post tan instructions which included patting myself dry after taking a shower and moisturizing twice a day. My tan has held up great! I can't wait to go back! Anna is excellent. I have a super busy schedule but she has always been able to fit me in. I LOVE that about Tan Cabana. After having used several products (i.e. St. Tropez, Fake Bake etc) I was convinced that manufactured tans were not for me. However the color that I receive from Anna is the same color that I receive from a few days at the beach. It's amazing. I was never able to go because of issues with this merchant. I think it's a little shady that if you buy a groupon(for $28.00 for a spray tan) that you can only book the appointment online and with a credit card even though you already paid. She has her phone number to call and text on the website but would not return my text or return my calls. Thankfully groupon refunded my money when I showed them proof of this. She may give a good spray tan but her business practices are shady and I won't attempt to go to her again. read more

I wanted a little color for an event I was going to but had never had a spray tan before so I didn't know where to turn. I went to The Tan Cabana after seeing the reviews on Yelp. Having never had spray tan before so I was a little unsure about the process. Anna walked me through it and made me feel really comfortable. It was super quick and the tan was just the right shade. I went to work straight after the session and had no problems with blotchiness or streaking which I was nervous about. The color stayed for the amount of time I needed and the price was very reasonable. I will definitely be back for future events! The Tan Cabana is a perfect place to get a spray tan--the owner, Anna, is very approachable and makes you feel comfortable in a situation that might not be the *most* comfortable (stripping down to a bathing suit, underwear, or in the nude for your tan). That, to me, is one of the most important things when I receive an airbrush spray tan--I've been to ones with the machines, and they were very cold, stark, and unpleasant. With Anna, I know that I'm not only getting a tan that's been adjusted to exactly my needs and desired level of darkness, but that it will be even and I will like naturally bronzed--no oompa loompa orange, and no dark elbows, weird streaks or off-putting smell (all things I've experienced with self-tanner or the automated spray tan machines). Her products are all-natural, which I love, and she is very knowledgeable about skin types, application processes, and how to ensure that her clients get the MOST out of their tans (no oily products beforehand, shaving the day before, no Dove products due to a residue, etc.). You DON'T get such personalized service from a machine, and you definitely don't get an all-natural bronze glow with zero skin damage from a tanning bed/outside. In my opinion, I'd much rather get an immediately gorgeous tan in fifteen minutes when I need a pick-me-up or for an event, instead of running the risk of wrinkles and skin cancer. NO thank you! Anna's facility is beautiful, beachy and chic. I felt at home, if my home were decorated like Crate & Barrel. :) Anna even has a wine chiller and gives her clients complimentary drinks if asked. How awesome is that? She's also a great advertisement for her products--Anna is gorgeous and healthy, obviously taking great care of herself and skin, and she has that warm, approachable nature you crave in an aesthetician, ESPECIALLY one seeing you in your skivvies. I went and had my first spray tan by Anna I was going on vacation and needed a tan. The tan went great she made me feel at ease and explained everything. It looked great after the problems started the next day when I showered. I waited almost 24 hours to shower and but the tan washed right off.
