Doubletree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort & Spa - Guest room

Doubletree by Hilton Ocean Point Resort & Spa

Stayed here again, this time on the south side--nice pool and ocean sunrise views. Smaller room…read moresetup: Key card for a shared doorway, then your own room. Had a full washer/dryer in that doorway area, but no kitchen or living area like the larger suite I had previously. Views were good, more sun exposure this time. Pigeons kept landing on the balcony, which was super annoying if you wanted the door open to bring in the ocean breeze. The thermostat didn't work properly on cold days as the heat just didn't seem to want to work and just blew lukewarm/cold air. However I will say the fan noise helped mask neighbors and outside sounds. It sucked there was no fleece blanket available as the bedding feels synthetic/nylon-like, which was disappointing and challenging feel comfortable. Elevators are still a problem throughout the stay: It was shaking during as it went up and down, you didn't know what floor you were on, you didn't know if it was going up or down, and continues to be so noisy when going up and down as it passes the levels. The hotel service desk was great and treated me well throughout my stay; no issues whatsoever. Still annoyed with having be forced to valet park, but I enjoyed the fact that you could request your car easily through web service link they provided so you don't have to wait long. Overall, not perfect but a good place to stay as a Hilton member, and I don't feel like the cons outweighed the pros.

I was very hesitant to book after reading some of the reviews. I'm so glad I gave DoubleTree Resort…read more& Spa a chance. My experience was extremely positive. From the time I checked in until the time I checked out. The hotel is in a prime location on the beach within the Sunny Isle North Miami area. I was given a warm reception during check in with the layout out of the hotel, freebies, discounts, towel and chair equipment and the list goes on. Lots of perks came with staying at this Doubletree besides the awesomeness of the cookies. The view from our room on the south side of the building was amazing. Although it was a partial view it was still an amazing view from the 23rd floor. The room was incredible with a full kitchen, walk in closet, huge bathroom, living room and incredible balcony view. The accommodations were plentiful. The food was even tasty. It was definitely full of flavor. The staff always went above and beyond to make the stay enjoyable. The staff were excellent. They always had a smile on their faces and were ready to serve. Is there room for improvement? Of course. This hotel could use some renovations as areas and items are dated. BUT, overall this was still an excellent resort with a relaxing atmosphere. This is a great place for a weekend getaway or an extended vacation..

I had very high expectations for this stay because of the name -- Trump -- and as someone who is…read moregenuinely a fan, I expected excellence across the board. Unfortunately, this experience did the opposite and actually tarnished that expectation. Out of the four different places I've stayed at in the Miami / Sunny Isles area over the past four years (always visiting in April for my birthday), this property ranks last. Let me start with the one bright spot: Avas from guest services was absolutely wonderful -- attentive, kind, and truly the only part of this stay that felt aligned with what you'd expect from a higher-end property. Everything else was, frankly, underwhelming. The elevators are extremely slow and almost always packed, making even simple trips up and down frustrating and time-consuming. One of the most disappointing policies was not being allowed to bring breakfast (which was included in my paid package) to the pool area. Coming from New York, where I'm indoors most of the time, I specifically come to Florida to enjoy being outside. Being restricted like that felt unnecessary and honestly a bit childish. Service was inconsistent. Calling the front desk often meant no answer, and when someone did pick up, I was told things would be handled "right away" -- yet it would take hours, if anything was done at all. The layout of the property is also incredibly inconvenient. The pool and beach are not on the same level, requiring stairs and making the flow between areas frustrating. Everything feels far from everything else, which takes away from the relaxation you're supposed to feel on vacation. For a place that promotes a signature piña colada, it was surprising (and disappointing) that they were out of coconuts. There was also a clear lack of communication among staff. I received conflicting information multiple times and often had to figure things out myself -- whether it was locating services like jet skis or even getting clarity from the salon downstairs. Beachside service was another major issue. Food that was ordered took about an hour and a half to arrive, and it was clear there were very few waiters on staff. The team that is there is working tirelessly and doing their best, but they're clearly understaffed -- and unfortunately end up on the receiving end of frustrated guests when they don't deserve it. This is a management issue, not a staff issue. And lastly, the towel situation was excessive. There seemed to be constant monitoring and pushback -- you can't take towels upstairs, can't bring them to the bathroom, and are repeatedly stopped and asked to return them before even leaving the pool or beach area. It felt unnecessarily restrictive for a supposed luxury experience. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations. With a name like this, you expect a seamless, elevated experience -- not constant inconvenience, miscommunication, and limitations.

Okay - it's a year later, so I am updating my review from 3 stars to 4 stars…read more I stayed here again last week, for my same work conference (technically at the JW Marriott across the street). Some of my complaints from last year still hold (the rooms aren't very sunny, and Miami is usually very sunny!) but overall I had a better experience here than last year. Pro's: -This year I was in a 1-bedroom king suite (last year I had a studio king room, but a corner room). It was closer to the elevator, which I liked, on the 2nd floor. It did feel smaller than my last year's room, which was odd because it was a 1-bedroom suite, but again I enjoyed having a couch. Also no oven, not that I needed it, but last year I had one. -Full-size kitchen, including stovetop for cooking, full-size fridge (which I did take advantage of, for almond milk in the morning), full-size freezer, etc. -Very nice breakfast again - my conference served me breakfast but I did take advantage of this on my last day there, and they had a lot of hot options, plus traditional things like bagels, pastries, etc. -As others here have said, Ruth at the front desk is very nice, and will make sure you're taken care of. See my one con below, though, about checking into my room. -Free wifi and strong connection, it did have me sign in on my phone every day for some reason, but that's fine. -Desk area for working - I had my laptop with me and needed to do some work, so this was convenient. -VERY comfortable bed Con's: -I arrived exhausted after a 7am flight, and I showed up around noon. They unsurprisingly did not have a room ready for me - same as last year - since check-in is at 4pm. I went to the mall next door for lunch and came back, and it was 1:30pm at that point; I expressed how exhausted I was, and asked if they could find me a room. Ruth said to stick around, and an hour later, at 2:30pm, my room was ready. (note: my Spanish is rusty, but Ruth left for a bit then came back, and I think she was like "wow no one has a room yet?" to the other desk clerk, when she saw me and another guest sitting in the lobby; I've heard that the hotel might be understaffed, so perhaps this is why, if they are needing more housekeepers). -On Sunday, I wanted to watch the Oscars, on ABC, so I rushed back from my conference, only to get an error message on the TV saying something like their contract with DishTV had expired. I flipped through the channels and literally every other channel worked, like PBS, etc., so I was not pleased by this, as ABC is a basic channel ... luckily I was able to watch on my iPad instead. -My room was booked under "Parker Kuhn" (Parker is my maiden name, and now my middle name; Kuhn is now my legal last name) so because of that, the Marriott app would not sync up with it. I tried changing it at the front desk but because it was booked as part of a group rate, they were not able to change it. I just had to remember to put in "Parkerkuhn" every time I wanted to access wifi. Overall, like I said last year, I'd stay here again if in the area, but if I got to choose the hotel (again, this year I did not get to choose) I might pick somewhere else.

A solid three star hotel that meets all of Marriott's standards for their "Residence Inn"…read moreproperties. Rooms are clean and fresh upon arrival. Either a new building or recently renovated. Staff is quite hurried and busy, but professional. Not unexpected for this type of place. There is a mandatory $33 destination fee, but that includes: * 2 beach towels & 2 beach chairs * Bicycle rental for 2 * Golf cart service to the beach (9am - 5pm--visit the front desk to book your golf cart ride to the beach). Nice ocean view with the luxury high rises in the foreground (panoramic views with depth, which I like). Not a bad place considering its location. There's a Walgreens nearby for convenience items.

(There were no other guests in the lobby at that time) Layout and facilities are just ok. Rooms are not cleaned thoroughly. Our room had sand all over the floor when we arrived and remained there for the two night we stayed there. We did not go to the beach during our stay so it was there from previous guests. Another very bizarre thing is that there's no lock on bathroom door and when it slides closed it's not even sealed closed. Again, when you stay in a room that can accommodate a family of 4 a little privacy is appreciated and important. Staff is ok - not very friendly or helpful. The biggest highlight and ray of sunshine was Gerald who worked the rooftop bar and took orders for food at the pool bar/restaurant area. He was always hospitable, professional and extremely pleasant to deal with. He deserves a 5-star rating! Another plus was the included breakfast which was descent and 2 complimentary cocktails per day included in the daily resort fee (which is not truly complimentary I guess) Pool and deck area are ok too. They do the job but nothing outstanding. Overall, it's a very mediocre facility. I think your money would be spent better elsewhere.
