NOVA Irrigation - Upgraded sprinkler head work charged but not completed

I highly recommend NOVA Irrigation. Jay and everyone from the NOVA Irrigation team were incredible…read moreto work with. They are very professional, knowledgeable, and did a tremendous job on both design and installation. The team was extremely thorough, responsive, and worked very hard in putting together a greatly improved irrigation solution. The irrigation system is now running far more efficiently and provides extremely good coverage. Pricing was very fair.

No Show and Lied…read more Back in March, I called the company's phone number to schedule a spring start-up service for my existing system--an easy job. The voicemail directed me to text the number for a faster response, which I did. In the text exchange that followed, I was scheduled for the service on May 1 between 8am and 12pm. The day arrives, and by 11am I had not heard anything, so I texted back just to confirm I was on the schedule. No response. I called the phone number, there was no answer, so I left a detailed voicemail. No response. I then followed up at 1:40pm with a screenshot of the text exchange from March when the service was scheduled. I then got a prompt reply re-confirming that I was still on the schedule for the day, and that he would check on the location of the technicians. I heard nothing further. Tried called again. No response. Texted again at 3:30pm asking for updates. No response. Texted again at 4:11pm. No response. Multiple additional phone calls went straight to voicemail. The company never showed. I had to make arrangements to work from home so this service could be performed. The appointment was confirmed over a month in advance and re-confirmed the day of the appointment. Now, I have to find another vendor, make alternate work arrangements again, and will be delayed in getting my lawn irrigated this season. This is a dishonest business practice. It is bad enough to fail to show for a job. But it was made worse by re-confirming the day of the appointment that it was still scheduled, still not showing, and then just ignoring communications by text and phone. There was no excuse for this. If there was some problem on the company's end that required the appointment to be re-scheduled, I would have been reasonable. But instead he just lied and wasted my time. I recommend you do not waste your time or money on this business. Screenshots attached as proof.

I use Patriot for mowing, fertilizer/weed control, and spring clean up…read more Their service is very good. My lawn is mostly weed free. I also like the spring clean up. I felt like the team had good attention to detail and my shrubs and flower beds look good. The overall price is on the higher side, but as long as the quality of work still seems to justify the price.

I am writing to alert you about the risk of signing (or renewing) a mowing service contract with…read morePatriot Lawn and Landscaping because they acted in bad faith regarding honoring the terms of our agreement--if I were possible to award zero stars, then I would have rated them lower. Here is the abbreviated back story: I'm a disabled 30-year Army veteran who signed a contract with Patriot Lawn in March 2020, after my Persian Gulf War-related disabilities worsened to the point where I could no longer maintain the yard on my own. I selected Patriot Lawn because they mowed my neighbor's yard. My contractual issue with them began when I emailed photos and asked Patriot Lawn to repair the damage to my lawn caused by their crew using the heaviest self-propelled mower on a small area of wet grass in my front yard. The office manager agreed to do the lawn restoration but stipulated that there would be a charge if there was a next time. I responded by offering suggestions to avoid causing further damage (like using a weed eater or simply skipping that small area if it's soggy), and I pushed back on their idea that I should be charged for repairing damage caused by their crew as not being legal in Virginia. The next day, I received an email from the president of Patriot Lawn informing me that after his manager repaired my lawn, and he was discontinuing my mowing service. I responded to his email by pointing out that we have a contract in place that obligated Patriot Lawn to provide a set number of mowing per year, and his unilateral decision to prematurely discontinue my mowing service would be a breach of our contract. The president of Patriot Lawn responded to my email by stating that his mowing service is not a binding contract. In response, I asked him for a copy of our contract to review, but he did not respond to my request. I located a copy of my contract in my email archives, and I confirmed that the president of Patriot Lawn was not telling the truth. So, what am I doing about all of this: first and foremost, I wanted to warn other neighbors about Patriot Lawn and Landscape's unlawful (and unpatriotic) bad faith acts. Secondly, I am in the process of filing a formal bad business complaint with the Better Business Bureau Lastly, under Virginia's Consumer Protection Act, I am in the process of filing a with the Attorney General of Virginia. What do I want you to do: I would like you to avoid signing or renewing a contract with Patriot Lawn and Landscape and instead follow the advice that the company president gave me after four years, "There are a lot of mowing companies out there... and finding one is absolutely the best solution for your lawn."

When setting the appointment we scheduled a tune up for 4/29 but as advised on page provided the detail that our system needed at least 2 repairs (admittedly we did not know the extent at the time) When the technician arrived we explained and he immediately said they did not schedule him enough time. I received a $150 bill from the office for the under 5 min trip. I called and whoever I spoke to ended up "doing me a favor" and cutting the trip charge in half stating my appointment did not describe the extent of the issue. I let that go as at least they met me half way. They came back again May 3. They sent one person (even though the technician explained two were needed ) and after spending some time on assessing what needed to be done and beginning the project he explained it was a much bigger job because the main box had been damaged. The bill for that day was $630 but the technician stated he would be back to work more efficiently with a second person. At the final appt which had to wait until 6/5 becuase of the need for 2 people the company sent this poor technician by himself again. Apparently the person who was supposed to come was injured on another job. The technician worked hard obviously taking much longer than expected but in the end he repaired our system. Although we were very happy with the technician we did not have a chance to run the system and when we did we noticed that some of the sprinkler heads were not facing our yard etc. My husband and I called approx 1-2 weeks later and explained before we pay the final 1570 which included replacing these heads could they come back and fix. At the time they said they would but no one ever showed. We were reluctant to pay bill because we wanted to ensure they completed the job so after they emailed the invoice 3 more times I called the office. They called me back today and stated it had been 2 months and they were not willing to send someone to fix without charging me a fee. I declined. Will call another company and will never deal with this company again. Hope this helps the next person.
