I had a Rove dash cam installed by the specialist on Speedway. The dash cam works fine in driving mode however in parking mode with Motion Detection & G-Sensor the dash cam shuts off and the parking mode does not work. I have taken the car back many times and they are still unable to solve the issue. I decided to troubleshoot it myself and install the fuse holder that came with the Rove Dash cam. I inserted two15amp fuse in the holder and placed it inside my fuse box and now everything works fine. The problem was that they did not use the supplies of the fuse that came with Rove R-2 K dual dash cam. The installers and customer service are friendly but wish they would try a little harder to fix it. The specialist was recommended by my Porsche service advisor I will call him and tell him about my concerns. read more

My 87 Nissan Truck was retinted in 2007 With the Best Tint- Pinnacle. Lifetime. Well the warranty is real, I changed a window decal revealing a fade in the shape of a Triangle. So I called and brought in the Original paperwork and worked with George. They had to find me in the paperwork/ computer and the will honor the warranty. They will strip out the old tint and retint With the latest Nano technology . Maybe a shade darker. One step less than limousine. Jerry Hernandez is my go-to guy, and the whole experience was perfect, as usual. ***** Longer version follows, if you have a minute. Maybe I can save you from a headache ***** For automotive accessories, I don't even shop around any more. I call Jerry and make an appointment. My decision to always use and recommend The Specialists stems from an old observation: *There are certain products and projects where the Cost Of Failure is much, much higher than any perceived savings up front * The Cost Of Failure can often be higher than the entire original purchase price. You had better get it right the first time. The new dashboard media center serves as a good example. In early 2022, my wife bought a gently used car. She loved everything about it - except the software. The car's stock music/phone/message center was an unattractive user-unfriendly kludge of an interface. It had a distinct 2005 vibe. Old hardware can retain charm and beauty forever. But old software is at distinct disadvantage. These days, most of us are exposed to truly great software every day. Our lives revolve around our smartphones, created by the greatest designers and engineers in the world. Not only are we intimately familiar with the benefits of a well-sorted User Interface, most of us actually get to witness the apparent magic of seeing our phones get better over time. My wife is the ideal target for User Interface designers. She uses her phone a lot. I mean, a LOT. She will study a manual if she has to, but she is happier if a thing just works the way it should work. Ideally, a new device should teach you how to use it. New functions should introduce themselves at the time you need them. Modern UI designers and modern phones are great at this, and my wife's new-ish car was ... definitely NOT. It was killing me to watch this capable, bright woman become frustrated every time she climbed into her car. Not-so-intelligent "assistants", unpredictable Bluetooth and undismissable dialogue boxes are just unacceptable. We all know better. "Rip it out", I told Jerry. "Let's put in a whole new media center with Apple CarPlay." Now, if you look online, you will see an endless list of aftermarket in-dash media screens with both Apple's and Google's car systems. And there are a lot of YouTube channels encouraging you to DIY. It is possible to upgrade your car stereo cheaply. But consider again the Cost Of Failure. The Cost Of Failure is not necessarily measured in dollars. My wife's patience had been worn thin. Her elevated frustration was on a hair trigger. What if this new dashboard gadget didn't work correctly? What if I picked a bad model from a sketchy manufacturer? What if I botched my DIY installation, clipping the wrong wire in a modern wiring harness? If it went wrong, the misery imposed on my spouse would have risen exponentially. I would feel much worse, too, having failed at my attempt to help her. I might possibly have done real damage to her car. In cases like this, the Cost Of Failure can barely be computed. But it is bad. Way bad. That's why I get my auto accessories from The Specialists. They are not usually the cheapest, but they are the most competent. And when it comes to decisions that can cost a lot to reverse, I'll go with competency and a warranty every time. Sometimes, saving a few dollars up front doesn't begin to compensate for the pain or cost of getting it wrong. So I'll just call Jerry and ask him when I can drop the car off. Shady business practices. Bait and switch. I took my car into this shop back in March to have a dash and backup camera system installed. I was quoted $120. I approved the quote and had the service started. They ran into an issue and did not complete the install, even undid the work they had started (without consulting me first), and then charged me $65. It took me a while to get to it, but I spent a whole 10 minutes addressing the issue and went back in last week to get the installation done. I was again quoted $120 for the service and made an appointment for this morning. I brought my car back in and was then told that it would be more than the $120 that I was quoted TWICE. The technician who told me this gave me the lame excuse that "I wasn't the one who gave you that quote." Like that matters to the customer! If one of your employees under bids a job, then suck it up and do it for that amount! It's not the customers fault! I would avoid this company like the plague! Dishonest and incompetent. read more

Car audio customer here. Products were overpriced, at least 25% more than Bestbuy, eBay or Amazon. They also charge significantly for installation and there will be a lot of "we can't do this" and "we charge extra for that". You'll also have to have an appointment to talk to people and days worth of wait to get anything installed. I ended up going to Bestbuy and they got it done quickly (same day) and the services were very well priced, reliable with no hidden fees read more

When I contacted the specialists I told them I could not go over a certain budget and to please note that I needed to be texted because my phone ringer wasn't working. We agreed on a price at the top of my budget. When I arrived for tinting, I went out with an employee and we looked over the car. When i came to pick up my car there were $160 in additional charges for what they said was extensive glue removal plus $70 for additional "supplies." So almost 300 more than my quoted price. They should have identified the glue earlier if it was so extensive and texted me right away about any additional charges or not done the work until they got my OK (I got a text from them about the extra charge an hour before I picked up the car -- they said the text "must have been delayed" ?!) and they tried to phone which I had said not to do. Update: I am updating to three stars because they addressed some of my concerns by removing the 70 supply charge and locating my gate sticker. read more

These guys told us they could fix something in the car, charged us to fix it and did not fix it. They planned to charge us for it anyway but eventually offered a partial discount. But when we went in to get that partial refund, the guys were talking about how they would just take it out of the mechanic's salary. Which sounds like BS to me but my husband is a nice guy so he said if you're going to take it out of some technician's take home pay, forget it. So we paid for nothing and this is terrible customer service. If you can go somewhere else, you should, like Audio 2000. read more

Took my car in to get my CD player in my radio fixed. The audio tech told me he could fix it for $250. Tech took my radio out of my car so I went without a radio for about 10 days. He calls me and says he can't fix it because of a parts issue. I had my radio reinstalled and had to pay $145 for him just to look at it. I was blind-sided because this charge was never brought to my attention though there is a sign in the office that I didn't read. How do I know he even looked at it. So I had to pay $145 of my hard-earned money for nothing. In order to replace my radio, it would now cost me $450. I said forget it. It's an old car. Wish I never went there. I've never written a bad review but feel like I was taken advantage of. I solved my own problem by buying a stand alone CD player ($70) for my car that I can play through my car speakers with Blue Tooth or plug into to AUX. read more

Convinced me to get the highest and most expensive level of tinting saying it would keep my car the coolest . I have a luxury car and have leather seats Etc and wanted the most protection possible . The window tints are worthless . My spouse has very inexpensive tinting and has better heat protection than I do . I will never use them again. I insisted to speak with the general manager who proceeded to tell me we don't care if you don't like our product go away. So now I'm stuck with this tinting that barely works and would cost me thousands to get removed and then another thousand or so to put on different tent. After three failed attempts at having a quality system put into three different cars, I finally took the advice of a friend and went to see The Specialists. I realized that the old adage, "you get what you pay for" has no better application than when one is buying a car stereo. I walked up to the counter, met Alex, and articulated my concept for the system that I wanted to install in my 2015 BMW 3 Series. Alex intently listened, reassured me that we could go with the idea that I explained, and then offered to show me a different idea that he had recently done on another 3 Series. He took me outside and then detailed where the custom box would go and how the sub would be optimally placed to ensure maximum sound quality in my cab. He showed me a couple of pictures of what his ace installer Pete had crafted and after patiently answering my questions I was sold on his design! After returning to the counter, I told him to first build the dream system and then we would scale it back to fit my budget. At this point Pete introduced himself and joined the party. Like two beautiful minds working as one to design my dream system they got right down to business. After several questions and some back and forth, they went over their masterpiece. While it was truly amazing, it was more than I had available to spend. I gave them my price range and they went back to work. Alex was simply amazing. He discounted items, swapped some items around, and made a phase two plan for a second installation when I could save up enough money for round two. They got me to exactly where I needed to be without feeling like I really had to sacrifice. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning when I got the call notifying me that my car was ready. I sped over to their shop and wow... I was totally blown away. Not only was the sound even better than anything I had ever experienced, the install was absolutely gorgeous. They totally exceeded my expectations, and believe me, I had incredibly high expectations! "Specialists" really let me down. I was recommended this place because I was in the market for a completely new sound system in my recently purchased vehicle. The guy shush promised me a "really good" sound system and bragged how he had never had any complaints for it. Well I should've known better... I paid a little over 2k for a new radio kit and 4 speakers with a sub. I was prepared to spend this amount however I was not prepared for the unpleasant sound the speakers produced... Upon pickup, I immediately was instructed to pay. After paying, I am walked to my car and noticed they broke a piece on my door. THEY WEREN'T EVEN GONNA MENTION IT TO ME. How do I know this? I pointed it out to the tech and he looks to his manager and goes, "see I knew he would say something about it!" Not the speakers I was promised, broken piece on door, didn't bother to put the cover that go underneath glove compartment, and USB port didn't work. I've been using The Specialists for many many years now and have always been happy. Most recently I used them to apply paint protection film on my new car. The owner was there at the Automall location and he is always very friendly and knowledgeable. They carry XPEL paint protection film which is known to be one of the best. Most importantly, their installer of the film has been there for a very long time and he is excellent as well. I was very impressed with this location. I walked in and it was clean and organized. Alex greeted me at the door and asked what I was looking for. He offered a few suggestions and I opted for the Rockford Fosgate 300w 12" powered enclosure. Install only took about an hour and a half and he helped my calibrate my EQ to get the best sound. Glad I went with the 12" instead of the 10". This thing hits hard. I had to turn down the bass boost cuz it was too loud! Luckily the bass knob mounted under my dash allows for some fine tuning. I paid a little more than I would have at another shop but I didn't mind because I wanted the job done right and I thought they were "the specialists". They said they needed the car for the whole day which was surprising and inconvenient for only three windows. When I picked up the car this was the quality I got, it's amazing they could hand me my keys when the job looks this bad. When I brought the poor work up to their attention they said my front window is hard to tint and they wouldn't recommend tinting it Because of the type of glass, they never mentioned that when I brought it in and we're happy to take my money. Overall they were rude and wasted a lot of my time and money. They said I could bring the car back so they could redo the job but they would need it for another whole day, because they had other jobs they messed up that they had to fix.
