    Half Chicken PLATE*
    Evan Y.

Holy smokes!!! The Smoke Pit Mooresville blew me away today... First off, the portion sizes were gnarly. I mean, it would be impossible to leave here hungry. The food itself was killer! The chicken was extremely juicy and that Alabama white sauce brought the whole plate together. Every single side was delicious but that hashbrown casserole was NEXT LEVEL!! Very creamy. Food came out so fast even with it being a packed house. Parking was tricky. Pricey but with the amount of food you get, you get your moneys worth. Our servers, Brian and Liz were awesome!! Ev's Eats will be back for sure! 9.6/10

2 Meat Combo w/Wed Special 3 Sides. Brisket, Ribs, Mac&Cheese, Baked Beans, & Jalapeno Creamed Corn. All so GOOD!

I'm in town for the Kart Races and happened by this spot and decided to pull in an try it. So glad I did as it is REALLY GOOD! My server Matt was great and was spot on with his recommendations! In fact the entire staff was on point. My meal was simply fantastic. I got the two meat combo with the ribs and the moist brisket. Both were so good! On Wednesdays apparently they have a complimentary third side so I had the Mac and Cheese, Pit Baked Beans, and the Jalapeno Creamed Corn. All of which were delicious. They are definitely doing the work here and not "mailing it in" as so many NC BBQ spots do. (Sorry, not sorry!) And for the size of the portions it was a bargain! I'm not a guy who normally needs a box for leftovers but here I did! Do yourself a favor and try this spot out of you haven't already. 100% approved by this guy!

food and service are excellent.... BUT, ambiance is POOR. Bright lights in dining area like a hospital! Terrible for dinner.

I started with the orzo tomato spinach soup with feta ($3.99). I wasn't sure what to expect as I get a pasta salad done similarly but I can tell you that I was highly impressed with the tomato based broth, the depth of the broth, creamy consistency of the orzo and pieces of fresh spinach. A side of crumbled feta accompanied it to toss in - and it definitely added to the flavors!!! I originally came here for the fried catfish - and it did not disappoint! Two pieces of fish, two sides (collards and broccoli cheese) and hushpuppies was $16.99. I had originally gotten the squash but I'm not a fan of breaded and fried. My server was gracious and let me swap it out. My service was quick, my server was the absolute sweetest and I'm already trying to figure out my next visit!

My husband got the chai cider, the spiced flavor was so amazing it warranted a second pint. We had the Spinach Crab Fondu and the Yuzu Ravioli as appetizers - the cranberry glaze on the ravioli was a delicious touch. I ordered the grilled Chicken Marsala for dinner and really enjoyed the mushroom sauce & potatoes. My husband liked his burger as well. We ended the night with the crème brûlée, which came with fresh strawberries. We were also offered free cookies when we closed out. The manager came by twice to chat, offer recommendations, and ask how everything was - he was very sweet!

We ended up ordering 2 fountain drinks, the spinach crab fondue, the seared scallop appetizer, farmers cobb salad, a caprese avocado panini with onion straws and a side of fries, french onion soup, and the espresso creme brulee. First and foremost, the food came out insanely fast. The seared scallops with creamed corn and pesto was fresh and delightful with a great sear. I do wish they were a bit bigger for the price, but it was a nice starter. The spinach crab fondue was so nice and hot when it came out that it was still bubbling. Strong crab flavor, a good portion size and plenty of fresh chips. The farmers Cobb salad had lots of seasoned fried chicken in it, the greens were fresh and the blue cheese dressing was nice and creamy. It even came with a fresh dinner roll. We advised the server we were going to split the panini and she was nice enough to plate them separately putting the onion straws on one and fries on the other. It wasn't so much a panini as it was just a ciabatta sandwich. The bottom bun was soggy as was the bacon but it was still very cheesy and tasty. The fries were hot and fresh and the onion straws weren't greasy and had a nice crunch. The French onion soup was hot and cheesy and was a nice portion. Could have had a bit more onion, but it hit the spot for the price. The espresso creme brulee was very very delicious. Not too sweet, had a great texture and came with a fresh strawberry, however the top could've been a bit hotter. A great way to end the meal. Overall, the meal was $99, which I think is very reasonable. Food came out quickly, tasted hot and fresh and thats exactly what you'd want on a cold day. Will definitely be back to try other menu options.

Portions were significantly smaller and the ham croquetas were very disappointing. They definitely changed the way they made them. The ham in the croqueta was hard and tasted old and everything else did not taste like it was freshly fried and crispy. On the other hand, I ordered a cheeseburger, and that was amazing... I'm hoping to give it another shot one day, but it's not my first choice. The restaurant itself is very clean, service is very friendly and if you get the opportunity to sit outside on the patio, you will not be disappointed. Parking is a little tricky because it's not a big lot and you are sharing it with the restaurant nextdoor and the condo's.

This spot is one of 4 remaining locations of a chain begun in 1956 in the Concord area. The number of locations maybe reached 14 or so, rising and falling as spots came and went. There are 2 locations in Concord and 1 in Kannapolis, in addition to this one. This one Is newer and in a little better shape, the other three are worn to the point of shabby. This is as old school drive in as you will find, with curb service, with ordering boxes that you can barely talk thru. The menu has some variety, but this place is about burgers, dogs, fries, Cherry-Lemon Sundrop, or Witch Doctor drink. This place, from reviews, is as inconsistent as the other three - and I've eaten at the other three. We got the What-A-Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and pickles, a Footlong with mustard, chili, and onions, along with FF, a Witch Doctor, and Sundrop. The burger and hot dog were solid, but not spectacular, and the FF were simply awful, cold with no flavor. And yet I enjoyed this experience, the nostalgia raises up the food and the moment. It's akin to having a hot dog at Yum Yum's or Pulliam's, or a burger at The Castle or Beef Burger, or a BBQ sandwich at Stamey's!

Do they have the best hush puppies according to my 11 year old? Also yes. At this point I don't know if I love the idea of this what-a-burger more than the actual lunch we get here once a year, but I come back faithfully and I think my kids would start a mutiny if I skipped it. I love the corn dog, I have the palate of a raccoon if I'm being honest so take it with a grain of salt that I also really like the burger since I get extra pickles. I just really like pickles, okay? I try not to interact with the staff too much, there's a general vibe that they're one bad interaction away from a meltdown and I don't want to contribute to anyone's bad day. This probably seems like a bad review but this place is so drive-in and divey that I feel like Guy Fieri would have a blast hanging out here and it makes me happy. Come try the witch doctor pickle soda if you're brave.
