Brooke was my esthetician and she took all of the tension that was in my face away. Her hands are so amazingly good I was melting. She took her time and made sure I was comfortable and provided incredible service. Brooke was talking me through most of the things she was doing. The room you go into has classical music playing, a Velcro towel that you put on yourself before the facial and there's a small lamp in the corner that provides just enough light to make you feel relaxed. She gives a quick consultation and survey of your skin before she starts the facial to address your skin concerns. I would definitely come here again just for the incredible facial!

In my 20s I thought I was super stylish keeping up with the "thin brow" trend... and let's just say my eyebrows never quite recovered So now I leave it to the professionals because I absolutely do not trust myself with a pair of tweezers anymore. In my mid-20s I also started getting more hair on my sideburns and became really self-conscious about it. I'm so grateful for esthetician Tiffany @beautybabe_tiff, who made me feel comfortable, and helped me walk out feeling refreshed--especially before the busy holidays. I truly can't recommend this local business enough. If I can give it a 0 I would!! before I went in. I called to see if they did gel nails. I was told…read moreyes, so I made the appointment and specifically told them I wanted my old gel nails removed and to do a new full set with one nail being extended. so I went in and the original person who started to take off my nails, decided that she was going to remove the gel that was sitting on top of my nails with another fake nail instead of buffing it off and putting acetone on it like they normally do. I asked what she was doing and was told that as long as it didn't hurt me, I was fine yet I can see the top of my nails being ripped off onto the gel because of the way she was removing it. once I said something, she decided she was no longer doing my nails, so I was passed on to the owner now being the owner. I thought I was in good hands. Well, I thought wrong! he tried to let me know that the powder he wanted to use on my nails was gel when in fact, it was not and they had to show him what gel actually is. He then proceeded to take off my old gel and didn't give me any sort of manicure my cuticles were not pushed back or anything. He put on a layer of no chip clear base before starting the gel! if anyone has ever gotten their nails done, they know that is a big no no and I said something right away. he insisted this was the way to do it so I let him and now it's been two weeks later and the gel has completely fallen off my nail my nail has broken and the no chip base coat is still on my nail. so unless you're going in for a typical manicure or no chip manicure, I probably would not go here.

This small shop caught my eye as we were moseying down Third Street in Geneva last weekend. The…read moreentrance is a somewhat farther back from the sidewalk than the others in town so it might be easy to miss. Any shop using the word "apothecary" tends to pique my interest since they often carry more niche brands, or higher end skincare, and as someone who loves exploring skincare I am quick to stop in; this was no different. I was a little surprised to see as much Dr. Hauschka here as they carry since that's a line you can get at Whole Foods. It was also a surprise that as a shop specializing in makeup and skin care that they didn't appear to carry a sunscreen--and I mean an a product that was solely sunscreen, not a foundation or lip color with SPF 30 or something. Sunscreen is probably the most important thing one can use in their routine, but you wouldn't guess that at a shop focused on skincare? They have a LOT of scents here. It's a small shop and it can quickly become overwhelming, as well as hard to tell the perfumes apart. Both of us customers in store quipped about the lack of coffee beans, and learned that they had them once and when they spilled they stopped using them. I was curious about one but I wasn't able to tell what it truly smelled like since one of the other folks in the shop had sprayed several already. The person working gave me a little tester to take home, though, which I appreciated. I would give this store another whirl if I was in the area. But overall I was a bit disappointed in their skin care options and lack of detail (the missing sun protection). They have a lot of makeup here too but I didn't really look at that much (it was somewhat dark in the shop so I wouldn't have been able to see a true color anyway). The building is not accessible; there are several steps to get into the shop. It's street parking only.
