We stayed at the Shakespeare Inn for two nights while passing through Kendal and found it to be a charming and convenient place to stay. Our family of three stayed in one of the larger rooms, which comfortably suited our needs, while another family member stayed in a smaller room downstairs. The accommodations are simple and no-frills, but they cover all the essentials - clean bedding, fresh towels, a kettle, and tea/coffee.
The breakfast each morning was a real highlight. You can choose from a basic continental spread or opt for a hot breakfast made to order. The full English breakfast was definitely the way to go, so delicious and filling!
All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, always checking in to see if we needed anything. Although we didn't have a chance to dine or have drinks at the pub itself, the atmosphere seemed cozy and welcoming.
The location is excellent - right in the center of Kendal, close to restaurants, shops, and other amenities. Parking is off-site at the Brewery Arts Centre, just a short 2-3-minute walk away, which was manageable.
