This used to be a fun place to shop for things at affordable prices. But lately, prices keep going up to where it's not worth the drive to shop there anymore. And there are some rude people working there. Also, making customers put their purchase in their car before being allowed to go into the clearance side is absolutely ridiculous. Are you afraid someone is going to steal something? There's nothing on that side worth stealing. And it doesn't matter if the weather is bad. Customers still have to take their purchase to their car. This place has become outrageous in prices. Many items can be purchased from Dollar Stores much cheaper. (Exact items) You used to get a lot of really nice pieces of furniture, collectibles, purses, and household items really reasonable. See lots of people donating, but don't see much of it ever hit the floor. They used to put items out all day long and now maybe twice a day. So where is everything going? This place was also to help the people in our community who are in need. That's the point....right? I don't know how they can afford it. Selling items up to $12 and $15, on the junk side. Sad part is if you were to have a garage sale, you could sell it cheaper than that, but no one would buy it. They'd buy it from here, just because it's sitting in a store. So, first off-3rd attempt to finally catch this place open when I was in that area. Nice greeting starting out. I found goodies & I had a cart full of stuff & I decided to check the other room, thinking that was where the furniture was. I had an employee act as though I was asking for gold to leave the cart for a few moments. I left a the cart for like 10 minutes or so. That room ended up being toys, I thought I'll grab a few dolls for my niece, when she comes over to have to play with. So, I come back to other side, they pointed me towards furniture in back of room. Mind you, I'm buying things for my guest bedroom walls there, so I buy from that side too. ( I just moved here recently). I come up to pay & I get berated by two separate females ( the boss lady with glasses; and a tall blonde headed loud lady)- 2nd lady -just absolutely nasty about my cart sitting to the side & SAID 3 times how they were going to empty it, if I didn't purchases my items immediately. I'm standing there paying for the stuff for the bedroom wall. Third time( within 3-4 minutes) while I'm paying for my stuff. Well by then, it really pissed me off -as it was overkill; & so I walked away, on purpose, & went to the back of the store on the furniture side...because they were being so ugly to me. My thought "go ahead put it back up & I'll leave", only so long that you can be spoken too so rudely before your like" is it really worth all this". I got my composure back, & then I go to pay & the girl ringing me up OVERCHARGED ME. I had point blank ask about specific two cloth baskets that said $2 on each, but there was a third tag on them that said $6 on it that made no sense. She told me they were $2 each. So, in meantime, an older woman comes in( @closing time) they allow her to shop, she ends up with a full cart & she finished -& then they check her out WITHOUT ONCE RAISING THEIR VOICES , BEING RUDE, & THEY DID NOT BERATE HER. They acted like they were closing the doors with me; 'just were loud & rude with me just a few moments before. When I got home, I'm unwrapping the finds, but then I had to go back & decided to recalculated; to find the young girl talking nonstop while checking me out, had overcharged me by $4-5, which didn't make me happy. Including what appears to be three charges for the cloth baskets I asked about!! Especially when I thought back about how I was treated, despite me spending money on each side of their the weirdly set up store. So, it's for a charity, so for a good cause, but I learned so much. WATCH CLOSELY WHILE THEY RING YOU UP. I will NEVER EVER LET MYSELF BE TREATED that way again. I will make a point go above "the boss lady in glasses" head. Such unbelievable treatment- NEVER AGAIN. Especially while being overcharged for my items. DISAPPOINTING, it started out great, but was not so good by the end of day. read more

I stopped in today and was happy to find reasonably priced clothing and children's items in good shape. Unfortunately, I was stopped by an overzealous security guard. He treated me rudely- tried to bully and intimidate me. (I had a small closed-knotted bag in my cart with a ty beanie in it.) He was enraged and yelled in my face and stood in my way for several minutes- I tried to leave but he had to have his "pound of flesh." I have witnessed this bullying tactic by the security guard several times but never been the target. The guard generally corners little old ladies and customers who shop with friends and seem to get off on belittling and being rude to unsuspecting people. read more

It use to be a great place to score a bargain. Now it's a money grab. They price used designer bags that are on their last leg for over $60-$400?!? They even put them in a glass case??? You can go to TJMAX and find NEW designer bag (same brands) for the same exact prices or less. How is this a charity-- when they are trying to turn a profit?? All of their items are donated. Really disappointed in whomever is running their store this year. Total different from last year-- when I could get my teen daughter a used Fossil bag (that looks used) for $5. This same fossil bag is there now for over $30. read more

There is something for everyone at this place! There is so much to look at and buy and the prices are very low, especially compared to Goodwill! And they will help people if they need it, as well, with all kinds of necessities. I love this store. Just be advised that they are closed on Saturday because they have church (Seventh Day Adventists). went on a Sunday with my service dog and the clothes part nobody said anything and spoke to my dog of 6 months old which was in a pet stroller. Went to the other side and a dark skin lady stopped me and said I couldnt go in. Really?? I hollered at my husband which wa fixing to check out to leave the buggy.. I have been a customer of the Samaritan Center for years. I always enjoyed my experience there. I live In the Signal Mtn. area , therefore travel several miles to shop there. The last time I was there I went to the section on the left as I walked in, made a purchase, and then started to go to the less expensive section in right.A security guard came up behind me , telling me I couldn't enter until I took my other purchase to the car. I rode with a relative and didn't have keys to the car. I had no other choice than to sit and wait. I abide by rules, but was puzzled and disappointed to see that some weren't held to this policy. I have to give this 5 stars. They spoke to me in about a half second of walking through the door. It's the simple truth: that's fast customer service there. They everything in here like; golf clubs, clothes, shoes, lamps, Chester drawers, cups, tables, bikes, books, plates, frames and even more clothes. This place is fantastic. The staff is great . Very friendly and helpful. Great prices. Unlike other thrift stores. New items a couple times a day. Sometimes more. It's a treasure hunt. Sometimes you have to wait. Some days you leave with everything you came for and more ! If u don't get what you want , that's ok. Just come back. They always put out more. I love this thrift store, and the prices are unbelievably low! I have shopped here for literally decades, and my girls both worked here when they were younger, first as volunteers, then as paid staff. It is always extremely busy, as you would expect, but I have never had a bad experience. In addition to giving great deals, they provide social worker services to the community, helping people get through tough times, providing school needs to children whose families can't afford them, host classes, help provide relief during disasters, and all kinds of stuff like that goes on in addition to the actual store that helps to fund these activities. This is a great place to help out our own community by donating and volunteering. read more

Love it here. I dropped by yesterday and was able to find 5 very nice shirts and paid less than $20 altogether. It's very clean in the building and there's a side where the clothing isn't organized by size but everything is 75¢, and then a more organized side with like new clothing that's $1.75 - $3.75 per piece...I prefer this side. Can't wait to shop here again, and I love their attitude towards helping the community! read more

Clean and organized, lots of treasures at good prices. Staff pleasant and greets you when they open. Every morning people lineup to get in. Sometimes there are 40-50 people there. Higher quality stuff is on the left side in a separate store. People in the community love the store and support it. They get a ton of donations every day. Great place to donate stuff and do a little shopping. Kids toys are super cheap! I buy for my parrots as don't want to spend a fortune on bird toys. The staff is friendly, shelves are messy (to be expected as items come and go so quickly) and prices fair. I have found some nice deals when I take time to look. I've stopped here on numerous occasions. The last few visits it's apparent that some members of the staff are extremely rude to anyone and everyone for any reason. In one instance the line was all the way against the back wall. They opened a fourth register away from the main group of registers and a second line started. After waiting in that line for several minutes they closed it without warning. When I asked why close the register while it still had a line I was told the "main line wasn't long enough" and was instructed to go stand at the back of the main line again. No apologies given. Next visit I checked out on one side without issue. Went to the other side and picked out some school uniforms from a rack that very clearly read "school uniforms $2.25". The person at the register rang them all up as $3.50. When questioned, the cashier gave me a look as if I was the dumbest person in the world and said adult size is $3.50 and kids are $2.25. I said but the sign didn't say adult and kid prices it said school uniforms. She repeated the same statement again and I said I heard you but that's not what the sign says you can go read it yourself. She said I could take it or leave it. So I paid and went back, double checked the sign which did say school uniforms $2.25. I went back and asked for a manager. She called one and the manager said what I had said, school uniforms $2.25. So the cashier tried to give me a refund but couldn't. She shrugged at me like oh well. And I said maybe you should call the manager back? She called another manager up and it resulted in arguing over the price again. Another customer in line nodded and said I was right. I got dirty looks for that but I finally got a refund. Both the cashier and that manager treated me like I was a liar when it was pretty obvious who was at fault. The other manager was so embarrassed she apologized for their behavior on my way out. That's pretty dang sad for an establishment that should hold itself to a certain level of integrity. read more

As a former employee I wanna say ministry is great within itself . No issues. However, I was let go because a donor put his hands on me and I defended myself, but yet, I was told my actions were wrong. I also fell off a ladder helping ing the maintenance man out.. I texted my manager about it and no reply or incident report was filed. Nor was I asked , if I was ok. So , technically, I wasn't let go, but not fired either. But was told I had no job due to my actions on the video. If so, why wasn't I fired? So, if their are any lawyers out there and wanna talk ,please feel free to message me or if someone reading this knows of someone. But the manager there is named Keith and he is not the Christian he proclaimed to be. But then again we're all sinners, but don't proclaim to be a man of God and do your employees wrong that haven't done wrong!! Stand up for them. But you Sir , let me go for defending myself and when I asked was the donor wrong for putting his hands on me ,you conveniently had no answer. Not even a definitive one! You are a sheep in wolves clothing to say the least and you can give a political correct answer , but your still wrong!! They let the customers and donors treat employees bad and we're suppose to eat it with a big ol spoon. There needs to be more training for the management and I mean the management that works in the office. They have no clue and put on a facade and clowns face. It's really an embarrassment to the over all ministry which is a good one. Keith if u been a manager for 30 years you are very blessed. You have no management skills when it comes to employees and shame shame on you with your people skills aswell as you insult people with intelligence. I have zero respect for you after our conversation. You showed me what your about. I'm not disgruntled but shocked at how you dealt with my situation and I hope God changes you in the future. But , in closing, I wouldn't recommend to anyone to work the dock as they just throw you to the wolves and it gets overwhelming and they expect you to do it by yourself. read more

You can find a wide variety of good, cheap items here. Staff are always very nice. Always worth the trip.

Good items however horrible furniture policy that they change based on if they like you. People will take tags when the store opens and then walk out with them to see if they can sell them online or to decide if they want them and they won't sell them unless you have the tag.they're supposed to page out overhead to see if anybody has the sticker in store or if they left but they change that policy based on if they like you or if they are the ones who have the item. They stated they cancelled that policy 6 months ago however multiple times I've been there I've gotten stickers and people bought the item while I'm shopping or they page out. Or when I want the item and there is no sticker they would page out. but now all of a sudden the policy is changing every time I come in. read more

This is a cute thrift shop my only two complaints is if you try to walk into another section they make you pay right then and there before you go into the other so you don't get to decide you like something else better and put it back. and all the clothes on the "cheap side" are awful if they're for adults. read more

This is the best thrift operation around. All purchases fund Assistance to LOCAL families. From backpacks to the entire school list of supplies for back to school, Christmas toys for hundreds of kids,helping families in need in times of financial crisis and so much more. They have even filled up simi trucks to send to flood, tornado, and hurricane victims. It is much more than a thrift store. You will find the BEST prices in town on clean thrift items. read more
