Sonny II aka the bum boat, used yo shuttle supplies to the lakers all along the harbor. And was a bar for the mens & ladies while alongside. A great seafaring tradition. Sonny B the sister ship is the water taxi up at PIB. Well for many years now at Ashtabula harbor the bum boat is tied up & open to the public fully licensed sit down bar. The owners are really nice. Live music, have a drink. Fairly large menu board too. I didn't know they had food tbh. It was great chili dog. As good & very similar to skyline. If u love shipping, history, music & dranks, and who doesn't in Ashtabula harbor, get ur arse down to the bum boat & have a blast. Our food was not warm to luke warm. However other people walk in and get a menu right away, and their food within 20 minutes. I am also not comfortable about placing the tray with our food on another customers table, while serving. I asked for mayo with my burger, no mayo. Server did not come back until meal was mostly done. I am very disappointed. I'm not sure if I will give it another try. The couple that was with us have been in the server/ restaurant business most of their lives. They are good tippers, we are also good tippers. When your tip is is 15% or less, it's sending a message. Quit talking and fraternizing with the patrons. Also when we were leaving a male patron decided to take a piss right at the back exit door. The establishment can't help what people do outside. Still. The bar manager was incredibly friendly and helpful. It smells from TOP to BOTTOM like straight cat urine. It saturates your skin and clothing... it is legitimately unlike anything I have ever smelled before and I have volunteered at animal shelters. There is literally a cat visibly walking around this bar (bless its soul) through the dining area and kitchen. There was actually cat vomit on the floor in the bar area. I am still in disbelief that there is a place that is open to the public like this. I will be contacting the health department of Pennsylvania tomorrow. As soon as I came home I showered, and I still feel like I smell of straight cat urine. This is absolutely disgusting and so unsanitary. I am still sick to my stomach.
