During heavy Covid times (2020) I would cruise over to the Roxy at around noon and watch the old movies that they would show for like 5 bucks, since Hollywood wasn't really putting anything new out. I saw Jaws, Halloween, Back to the Future, etc. so many great films to see on the big screen. Now let's hop back to modern day, I REALLY want to like this theatre since it's my hometown theatre, but you have to understand ONE THING, this place is NOT a daycare for you "parents" to drop off your loud and disrespectful kids at. Twice so far I've been in films where 7-8 UNSUPERVISED kids (ages from about 11-14) were talking and making noise the entire movie. Running up and down the stairs loudly and making ridiculous amounts of noise in the hallway of the theatre. Both movies were also rated R, so please explain to me why these kids were there in the first place. I didn't make a fuss because I didn't want to annoy my fellow movie goers even more, and when I left the movie I was so irritated I just went home. Like I said I really want to like my local theatre but the next time this happens, I'm going to contact the manager and if the problem doesn't resolve, idk what to tell you. read more

Walking into this theatre is like stepping into my 90s childhood. It's very nostalgic. I don't think they've done much to anything in this theatre. Even the arcades and games have been left in its original state. This is a no frills basic theatre, but I really enjoy it here. I was here a few times while vacationing in the TN. The price for a matinee is fair at 9.00 and the concessions are also of average price, but you do get free refills on all large drinks and popcorn. For it being an older theatre, there are still many locals who utilize it. I'm assuming because it's the only theatre in town. Regardless, it's a nice theatre and you can still have a great time watching a movie here. They also do $5 movies on Tuesdays! I would definitely return to watch more movies here, if anything just to feel the 90s nostalgia! read more

The Roxy theater is a total blast from the past. First the staff are very friendly. The lobby has a pool table, couches to sit at, tables, arcade games and murals of Hollywood and some of the stars. The theaters themselves are a good size and has stadium seating. It's become our go to theater for movie days and nights. read more

I would give 0 Stars if possible. I feel horrible putting down a family business that I've been going to for years, but I need to warn others. If you're able to drive to an ACM or watch at home, you should. The lady that sells tickets at the front is rude, and through other reviews, I'm concluding it's not just to me and my family. The price for a ticket is outrageous unless you go on $5 Tuesday. The pretzels are hard, nachos stale, and the drinks taste only like carbonated water. Drinks should taste at least like soda when priced over 7 dollars. They have candy that's around 4 dollars a box that can be bought for $1 at the store. Save your money and your time. read more

We live in Hohenwald, TN and this is a great place to come to see a movie. The people that work at The ROXY always bend over backwards to serve and help their patrons. The owner, Belinda Daniels, wants to always set a great example to her staff in serving and every time we have come to The ROXY she is usually behind the food counter serving. My wife and I were recipients to her service this past week. I am currently on crutches and she went out of her way to ensure we were taken care of. In this day and time finding a business that values and serves their customers is a rarity. Obviously The ROXY is one of those rare businesses. You have definitely earned our business. I have been twice this weekend. They have really upped their game since the last time I was there in 2017. New carpet, couches in the lounge/gaming area, and the theatre is actually clean. There wasn't popcorn all over the floor or trash everywhere. It was a good environment compared to my last visit here. They've really improved. Might make going a regular thing. We saw The Hustle and Pokemon Detective Pikachu. Both were great movies and there were no distractions during the movie(s). Glad they have stepped up in the last few years. The seats are either broken beyond repair or in need of repair. My wife, daughter, and I went to see the late afternoon matinee of Wonder Woman on Friday. We had decided to stay through the credits to listen to the movie score and wait for the house lights to come so we could find our way out with falling. As soon as the credits started to roll, an usher started making his way through the theater seating attempting to sweep (in the dark). He was using a very bright pin light attached to his shirt to find his way. At the point where he was sweeping in the isle in front of us, he made sure to put the light in our faces and to work the isle back and forth three times. Take note: there were only about 8 people in the whole theater including my family. My wife asked politely if he wouldn't shine the light in our faces. He rudely exclaimed that there wasnt an "after credit" scene. (That no one brought up). She explained that we were waiting for the house lights so we could see and that for the ticket price we paid, we wanted to stay for the entire movie and didnt appreciate his rudeness or abuse. He left before the house light came up. As we left, we did report him to the management. read more

Movie time 9:45. Bought large soda and popcorn because it had free refills. Went to counter at 10:05, only 5 minutes into our moviebas they had problems with it. Concession was closed said we could not even get refill on soda, iceee down. So I paid 6.95 for ONE drink no refills. Every single toilet in bathroom had pee or poo in it. Both trash cans overflowing and paper all over stalls and floor. Not one employee to be found !! read more

I've only been here a couple/three times in the five years I've lived in the area, but that's no fault of the theater. Hollywood only release one or two movies per year that I would actually pay money to see. The only other theater within miles of my house is the Mi-De-Ga in Waverly. And they're so tight-assed they won't show anything saltier than a PG-13. It bears mentioning that they (the family that owns the Mi-De-Ga) segregated their audiences by race until well into the 1970s. Make of that what you will. Anyway, through a confluence of events (I had the day off, it's raining (it only rains something like 120 days a year in this fucking place), Hollywood actually released a movie I want to see (Deadpool. Go see it. Be sure to sit through the credits for the trademark Marvel stinger. Or don't. The fuck do I care) and it's the day after Valentine's Day, so I wanted to go to Dickson to load up on the 50% off candy) I found myself once again at their door. Did I close all my parentheses? Good. Moving on. First off, it's Middle Tennessee. So take the amount of time you THINK you'll need to arrive safely in time to see your movie, then add ten minutes. Then add another five. And that's on a weekday. I wouldn't even TRY to go there evenings or weekends. Mondays are Seniors Days, so the ticket lines move slowly because most of them apparently don't know what they want to see until they get to the theater. Then they have to be sure to jawbone with the clerk. There's five minutes of your life you'll never get back. Senior tickets are $7. Not a huge savings over the regular adult price of $8, but if you're 55 or older you qualify for the Senior fare, PLUS you can buy a popcorn/drink combo for a buck. It doesn't take a genius to realize the bargain there. Sadly, the concession stand lines move even more slowly than the ticket lines. Some of the fault lies in the lackadaisical attitude of the teens working behind the counter and some comes from the rocket surgeons who take their sweet-assed time figuring out what they want. I got to the front of the line and handed the girl my combo ticket. She asked if I wanted butter on my popcorn and what I wanted to drink. Took less than 30 seconds to complete our business. It took the half dozen people in front of me over ten minutes to buy their stuff. The previews were already underway by the time I got to a seat. Twenty minutes after I walked through the front door. Seats are comfy, sound system is decent, popcorn is spot-on. The soft drinks are bit on the flat side. read more
