I had a sangria cocktail which was nice and good choice of beers. Service was slow and when it came to pying, the waitress asked if we would like to do a review and get 25% off our bill. So my friend did a review and showed it to the waitress. When ahead bought the check, we noticed it was actually more then what it was totalled rather than discounted. We queried this with the waitress and she tried to explain but we could tell she didn't understand either. She said she would go get her manager. Her manager came over and was soooooo rude and patronising. She kept saying, its cause the kids meals havent got through correctly on the system. She was annoyed we had even questioned it. We literally were laughing in shock that they felt it was ok to bring the bill totalling more then the prices on the menu because apparently "there is an error with the system". No apology, just annoyance that we are able to do maths and work out when being conned. How she got the job as a manager is beyone me, absolutely clueless, rude and not very intelligent. Anyway, check your bills people! Wont be returning.

I order the Hunter Chicken (£8.99) great value for money and a decent size. The chicken itself was juicy enough, considering the price. And the overall present was great. We came on a Friday, so they had their "Fizzy Friday" deal. So got the house prosecco, for £12 (reduced by £8) which was a nice drop. Do check out their numerous Deal nights, which is always a lot of fun. Overall, I wouldn't come here especially for the food, though I would for the environment and to enjoy by the park. Come with friend group small and large, though probably not a romantic date place or appropriate for business.

The Golden Lion wouldn't be my first choice for a drinking location in Bexleyheath. The pub itself…read morewas okay, there was a pool table and a big screen which was easy enough to see, but the clientele made me feel quite uncomfortable. They were quite a young crowd who seemed to prefer shouting at each other as loudly as possible as opposed to talking regardless of the distance between them and in a few cases their aggressive tone made me feel a little on edge as it sounded like they were after a fight. It might not be like this on all occasions but after my visit, I was hardly keen on going back to see. It is within walking distance of Bexleyheath's livelier venues and The Golden Lion looks like it is a starting point for most people's evenings.

However, the current manager, Terry, changed all that years ago. They cleaned up the decor and introduced live bands, better TV's and quality beer. You can also get reasonably priced food here but I've never eaten it so I can't comment on what it's like. We used to go here every week, often more than once (alcoholics!! Us??). I think we still have the record for the largest bar tab (oh the shame). Always found it really friendly with a good mix of people there and excellent bar staff. Yes it can get very packed at weekends but not overly so. The crowds never seem to get violent, despite other comments here and on those busy nights extra security is on hand. We've found this to be a nice in between pub, it's not quite an old man's boozer and it's a long way from the kiddie bars further up the Broadway. Check it out, we've always enjoyed ourselves there and was our place to go before Nyne's opened. Sorry Terry.

Hurray we thought, another upmarket eatery for dear old Bexleyheath. The first clue that not all was ideal is their menu. £20 a head??!! Now that's not exactly OTT but for Bexleyheath you'd be looking for something a little lower, especially before you start adding drinks and extra's. The second clue was in the level of service. It was clear fairly early on that although their prices said upmarket, the only thing 'market' about it was where the owners usually did their trading. Service was generally pretty poor and the quality of the food did not meet what you'd expect from the price. Having dug into things a little more after wards and asked around a few contacts we have, the impression I get is that the owners are more into this for the quick buck than for a love of fine dining. Not somewhere I would recommend. That said, if they can invest in the basics a little more it could be a lovely place to go. "Could try harder" as they used to tell you at school.

After having sat…read moredown at our table 45 minutes later than booked due to them overbooking we had what I can only describe as the worst restaurant experience ever. The starters were very average, our main courses were either incorrect, undercooked or just very bland. In fairness to the waiter when we complained they offered us complimentary drinks, they even bought over a complimentary bottle of champagne, but don't be fooled by this as they stuck it on our bill - hoping we wouldn't notice perhaps!! After we had paid our bill and complained about the evening in general they had their bouncer get very aggresive and ask us to leave. One of the owners a short rather nasty man was incredibly rude to us. Having eaten a couple of days previously at the Oxo Tower and paid very similar prices I can only advise that the owners need to take a trip up there to see how a real up market restaurant cooks their food and treats their customers. I will not be visiting this overpriced pretentious place again.

I did notice you could order from your phone but Auntie likes to do things the old fashioned way so up to the bar we went and we were helped pretty quickly. I had a monster mango mash cocktail it was good but not strong. My Aunt and Uncle had beer and red wine nothing fancy but they were happy with it. I had fish and chips with baked beans. It was good basic fish and chips. My Aunt and Uncle had baked potatoes aka jacket potatoes with tuna and it came with a side salad. They were happy with that. We had a good time. I would come back here.

The Furze Wren was formally known as Lloyds No 1 Bar but a couple of years back underwent a…read morerefurbishment. I was never a fan of the original Lloyds and pretty much had to be physically dragged there by friends. I'm sad to say that the only changes to the place have been physical. Being a Weatherspoons, it is a case of cheap drinks all round. Early evenings and midweek this can be quite a good place to socialise. But at the weekends it packs out to the point where it becomes unenjoyable. there are a lot of people clambering for the bar staff's attention and it took me ages to get served at the bar. A lot of people appear to go to The Furze Wren to get as drunk as possible for as cheap as possible. Of course this means that you can encounter a number of unpleasant characters. Don't get me wrong, the majority of people are there to keep themselves to themselves and to have a good time, but it is worth keeping your wits about you and be prepared to be knocked into a lot if you are there during these busy periods. As far as food and drink quality goes, it is Weatherpoons' standard which means good value and good quality. The Furze Wren is good for a midweek drink and socialising with friends. As for weekends, I would suggest only going there if you can tolerate nightclub style environments (ie, crowded and loud). Being based in Bexleyheath Broadway makes it a good place for lunch or a break from shopping/work. Pretty much every bus route that goes through Bexleyheath stops within a few hundred yards of it although some buses are subject to diversions on Friday/Saturday nights and during other busy periods. Parking is available outside Sainsbury's around the corner.

In that I mean it…read moreis a mainly wooden interior with the carpet, no music, not modern and trendy and the usual squabble of old men who spend their whole day in the pub as well as cheap food and drink. It is a little out of the way of the busiest parts of Bexleyheath which is its appeal to me. I have never seen much trouble there on my visits compared to for instance The Furze Wren or RSVP up the road although I wouldn't bet against it happening at some point. The pub is quite long and narrow with no windows which means towards the back of the pub you can be forgiven for forgetting that the outside world exists. The booths down one side of the bar are good for groups that wish to have a talk amongst themselves in privacy. On busy nights the staff can be under a lot of pressure and you might have to wait a little bit to get served but they do acknowledge waiting customers which settles you and makes you feel like you're not being ignored. All in all, I quite like The Wrong' Un compared to the other Wetherspoons on offer in Bexleyheath as a place to socialise and have a conversation with a mate, but it lacks that something special which would make me want to specifically go there for a night out.
