Every few years, the torrential rains flood this flat area under water. But there is a popular drinking hole for the locals, and that is the Victoria Hotel. A little octagonal 2 story outpost for the dry, hot Aussies to cool their heels and their thirst. I spent the better part of an afternoon drinking the suds with 3 Aussies, talking about how to automated chicken coops, believe it or not. With so much beer, I can't recall exactly what we drank, but I think it was a local favorite. If for some strange reason you are in this little part of New South Wales, drop in have a brew. This part of NSW is actually not far from the famed Hunter Valley, where some of the finest grapes are grown and best wines produced in NSW and in all of Oz.

Queen bed was very comfortable for both sitting and sleeping, we didn't get to that other option beds are used for... ;) Check in was a little confusing as there is no front desk for the hotel part so you actually check in,pay and get your room key at the bar in the pub's main area. Once again, it is part of a pub and they serve your standard pub/comfort food but bookings seem to be essential. we were there on a saturday night and and every table was booked. There is a tiny section available for walk-ins, but that was also full by 6pm Very quiet and great for the sunday morning sleep in we both needed after a 30th bday the night before. It is a little pricey for some of the meals but they offer several vegetarian options. I had been before and had a nice meal but made the mistake of going on a sunday which is the cavery day. It took over an hour to get our meal and there were a lot of unhappy faces in the resteraunt that night To be fair my meal which was a type of greek salad was wonderul but I wish they had brought it out earlier rather than deciding I should wait around for my partners food to come out. I couldnt catch a waitress to ask either as they didnt seem to be about I think they were hiding in the back. Go to the bar and take your drinks to the table as it is much easier. My fella loved his food when it came but said he would not go back as the wait was far to long with no apology or explanation. I regret not walking out at the time
