We came to the North Rosedale Park Community House for the Focus: HOPE Holiday Music Festival in…read moreDecember. I really had no idea what to expect. The event was totally sold out, and packed to the max. The main floor was filled with big, round tables. They had a few options for food like a cheese & fruit platter & chicken tenders. There was wine, beer & soda available as well. The service was pretty good. There is a 2nd floor as well and some people were sitting up there. I think they were the musicians and their family though. The event itself was awesome. I'm not a folk or country music fan, but I love good live music. There was a good variety of music (folk, country, blues, or all of the above). The energy in the room was amazing. This is a charity event that people attend every year. I'm so glad we were invited to attend. The Community House is definitely old & holds a lot of history. I loved the atmosphere & found it to be very intriguing. It definitely needs a lot of TLC, and looks like they're having some serious structural issues. The good news is that they have a plan, and hopefully they'll be able to fulfill the vision for a new Community House. It's clear that the community takes pride in this little landmark.

We were very very pleased with how everything turned out and had really great interactions with everyone who worked there. One note is that they don't provide catering or any other services like that. It worked out fine for us because we were able to bring in the companies from in and around Detroit that we loved.

So happy to see the community come together in this space. Events here are usually in the evenings or on weekends. Everything from crafting classes to book clubs to divorce support groups. I love the badass ladies dinners and tea events. It's about making those bucket-list things happen. Never tried boxing, ridden a Segway or been to _____? This club will make it happen, and you can do it with your girlfriends in tow. For the work-from-home crowd they offer drop-in coworking every other Friday. Bring your laptop and use the WiFi. Classes can cost from $20-40+ and after taking several, I can say they are definitely worth it. The SheHive is new, and changing rapidly based on demand for classes. Can't wait to see what is coming next.

Found a parking spot on the back side of the building (behind Subway) and had to walk around. For after hours workshops you have to ring a bell to be let in. The workshop leader was informative and friendly. Just enough information for a novice to begin their journey into podcasting. Would like to take a more technical workshop next that focuses on tools and actual technical aspects of podcasting. Hope they add something like that in the future. The course list they offer looks interesting and I can see myself coming back for more.
