The staff have always been pleasant and helpful. The goods are of a good standard and are at a reasonable price.

Gordon Riggs is a great all year round garden centre which is conveniently located just off a new…read moremotorway extension and exist in Kingsway, Rochdale. The plant and flower stocks change seasonally and the items usually have helpful tips and information on the suitability. There are sections of the centre suitable for most purposes, from gravel and rocks to statues, fountains and pond liners. The pets section always has a great selection of fish too. My one gripe is that Christmas always comes VERY early to Gordon Riggs, with a strong emphasis on a very large (and impressive) seasonal lighting display. It could just do with arriving a few weeks or months later than it does though. That said, it's especially great for your pick of healthy, juicy christmas trees.

Yep,it was trawl around a garden centre sunday day for me and Mrs Z last week. To be honest I only went because I wanted a bacon sarnie from the caravan that parks outside, only for it to be not there anymore!! That's probably because the centre has recently open up a bistro on the first floor, which I will check out one day. Can anybody remember a time when garden centres only sold things for the garden? On Sunday at Gordon Riggs I had the opportunity to buy (Deep breath):- Candles,Locusts,Crickets,Rabbits,Bearded Dragons,Vases,Books,Paving stones,Bloody Meerkat tat,Plants,Incense sticks,Essential oils,Bird Food,Bird Tables,Bird poison (Not really),CD's,DVD's,Tins of minced beef and onions and a carvery. And that is a good thing! because when I go to a garden centre the last thing I want to look at is garden stuff,as I stated in last years review of All in One garden Centre I hate gardens and gardening, so the more non gardening related things they sell the better, which is why I have a soft spot for Gordons place, anything that stops me having to look at bulbs and seeds is a good thing. Although less Meerkat related stuff would be nice : )

A garden centre? what in all that is unholy was I doing in a garden centre???? Normally if someone…read morewas to say "Lee lets pop to the garden centre",then my answer would be "Can I stay at home and whip myself accross the face with a rusty bike chain instead?". But on this occasion that wasn't an option,it was Mrs Zombis birthday and she wanted to buy some plants. So off we went (I packed a chain just in case). Now as far as i'm concerned the worst thing we have ever done as a couple is buy a house with a garden. I just can never rouse myself to do anything in it,if money were no object then it would either be paved over or a gardener would be hired. So the walking along rows of flowers and plants made me long for rusty metal flagellation (good name for a metal band). This is not to do the garden centre down at all,it is how i feel about all of them. On this occasion though my mind was blown apart, when we got inside the centre they had a Deli!!! Yep,a Deli!!! Cheeses of the world, beautiful cooked meats, salamis and other sausages, beautiful artisan breads and stuffed olives of many a filling. That is only a small selection, they also stocked some really nice kitchen gadgets, smelly candles and stuff that i have never seen or heard of before... I bought some Pastrami ( the king of American Deli meats). And i have to honestly say that it was some of the nicest i have ever had. Really peppery and beefy. I haven't enjoyed pastrami so much since i had a stupidly big sandwich in Sausalito, but i can't just pop there whenever i fancy a peppery beef sarnie. But I can pop a mile and a half down the road to the All in one garden centre for one,and that'll do for me ta very much.....

What a house of wonder! Chase really isn't kidding when he says it sells everything, it really does…read moresell pretty much everything you might need for your home. From cleaning products, kitchen items, DIY bits and bobs, cheap snacks, cards and so much more - they've got it covered. If you're a keen shopper/browser it's a veritable treasure chest to explore. My particular favourite is the upstairs section. Here's where the items get slightly less bargainous and become a little higher end... They've beds, lamps and all other kinds of home furnishings in a range of styles. Faux-antique right through to the more modern sleek look. I bought an awesome 'telephone box' lamp for my room at home, which is so kitsch and delightful and only set me back £15. (I can imagine it costing a ton more in a vintage shop!) My Mum was particularly overjoyed with a red painted vase that she picked up as well, of which they had many different shades! So, there's plenty to get excited about, and not too pricey as well. However, all that glitters is not gold. I did come away having purchased a few oil reed scent dispensers (the pots of oils with the wooden reeds) and they simply don't work at all. They were only a pound each, but I can see why they were so cheap as they give off no scent at all! Even so, I'm pleased as punch with my lamp so that more than makes up for it!

It was the first time I'd been in a shop which I cannot categorize by what it sells, IT SELLS EVERYTHING !! From bleach to crisps, rugs to xbox games, they have almost everything under one roof. The only thing I can say lets it down is a lack of electrical goods like TV's but if you're looking for a pack of brass tacks and a birthday card for auntie Mabel this is a good place to start........ and if you're feeling tired you can nip upstairs and pretend you're testing a bed out :)
