Today's sermon was on forgiveness. it was a wonderful sermon that anyone could apply to his/her life. Pastor Gerardo incorporates scripture into his sermons with humility and grace. He prepares handouts with the scriptures he's covering so people can follow along during the service. Every Sunday after church we have a free lunch which allows us to get to know each other better. I invited a friend to church, and after trying at least 5 other churches in Marin, she liked Light House the best.

Ethan introduced to him i was met with an unfriendly and cold greeting. My impression was that he was aiming to succeed the current pastor (which happened soon) and treated anyone, visitors or member as a potential threat to his objective to take over the church leadership. Bad start. I left my handbag there and I went back to pick it up. When a woman member handed to me I could tell it was opened and searched. I had prescription pain medicine to deal with horrible nerve spasms that occur in my vertebrae more and then. She let me know that she found it and became instantly judgmental and critical as if I was some addict. I was deeply offended by the hostility she display and vile criticism she hurled at me -- a decent Christian with seminary training and wide experience in the church on many levels. Afterwards, i never heard from them again and needless to say, I never had an desire to return to this place, especially with Pridemore who lived up to his surname in personality. Very unfortunate. I suggest Martin Covenant or New Life for a genuine loving church true to Jesus.

On Sundays at 10:00 am the celebration is usually at the Corte Madera Recreation Center, on Tamalpais Drive just west of Highway 101. During the week, classes are held around 6:30 pm in the learning center at 199 Greenfield Avenue, in San Rafael. That's just off 4th Street right before the San Anselmo border. I'm learning to ride Golden Gate Transit, to check out cars from City CarShare, and to ask for rides from my colleagues. On weekends My Lady will either check out a City CarShare car or rent a car from Enterprise or Alamo. Why do we do this? Because there is a wonderful atmosphere in Marin County. People are peaceful here. The air is fresh and the sky is blue. The sun is warm, and there are plenty of sun dresses, shorts, and bicycles. The services at GGCSL are well worth attending, too. The music is fresh, the minister, Rev. Karyl, is inspiring, and the congregation is welcoming. The theme is offering "practical spiritual tools to transform your life and help make the world a better place." It's a great contrast to the cold and fog of the Richmond District, that's for sure.

All of our kids have gone through the elementary program "seeds" and we love it. Our older kids now serve in the elementary classes "seeds" twice a month. Which says so much about the program when the kids who went through it want to be a part of it as teens. They also offer youth group for jr high and high school and summer camp and fall retreats. The leaders and staff are all trustworthy and have gone through background checks and there is a strict policy to work with the kids or even be in the classrooms. safety is priority. which i love. (my husband and i also went through the background checks and attended the church at least 6 months before being a part of kids ministry) There are awesome women and men's ministries that offer group studies and events through out the year. mens bbq, women's picnics, galentines and the women's christmas event (SO MUCH FUN!) Sunday's are the BEST at calvary

There's even an outdoor chapel called St. Clare's where services are sometimes held and where people can stop by any time to pray or meditate. This is where the Blessing of the Animals takes place every October. We have a wonderful priest named Vanessa Glass who held a service in St Clare's for my dog who died last year. In the tradition of st Francis, we care about animals and make donations to the Humane Society. Come and join us!

My wife and I did not have any roots or relationships in Marin when we first visited Anthem Church…read more Fast forward five years and we are amazed by how God has shown us his grace through the people and preaching at Anthem. We are firmly rooted, connected, and loved well. What we found is a community of Christians who earnestly love Jesus and pursue deep relationships with one another while serving Marin. We are continually challenged to "grow up" into who God created us to be by trusting in His grace and sharing it with one another. No organization of people is perfect and with close relationships it's not easy to conceal hard things, but my wife and I believe the Anthem leadership truly and humbly seeks the Lord in all decisions and provides wise counseling when (not "if") the hard things arise. This is Grace in action. The close community comprised of a range of ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds has allowed us and our two young kids to feel like we have a family here which is truly a blessing. We would be remiss not to share this with anyone else seeking a local church to call home.
