This museum is excellent for kids and adults alike, and is made up of two parts: the exhibition and Mail Rail.
The exhibition provides a great history of how the post office came to be, using informative text, beautiful visuals, and hands on displays for the kids.
Mail Rail is a 15-20 minute underground ride along the old postal rail lines that carried mail between stations from the 1920s until 2003. Throughout the journey, narration plays overhead and it stops 2-3 times alongside other platforms where a video presentation plays.
I found Mail Rail to be immensely interesting, but the cars are quite small and may be uncomfortable for tall or larger people. For example, at 5'2" I was grazing the ceiling, and my 5'10" husband had to slightly duck down.
A few tips:
- There are lockers on the ground floor for bags, since they can't be taken inside.
- You may need to book the timed Mail Rail tickets In advance. read more
