We stopped in here for a quick drink while in the area and if we'd had more time in the day or of we were staying closer to Boulder we'd probably have stayed longer. I like their saloon-type feel and feel like it is really the perfect spot for meeting friends or grabbing a cocktail/beer after work. Ok, yea... once again I have to post a disclaimer. I'm not a person that normally only writes a review for a place when it's bad. And I hate having to do it. To be honest, maybe this place has amazing food and it was an off night. But that wasn't our experience. My brother and I were wanting to have a beer and maybe a snack, nothing much as we were going to be meeting up with some family later. We found a promising local brewery in this place and decided to give it a try. While the front area and patio/sidewalk area looked promising, we were seated in a back room on a folding table. We were the only people in this huge room with a stage at one end. But we asked and were told by the hostess that she would move us to an outside table if one became available. We sat down, pulled up the menus, ordered our first beers and were ready to order some food when the hostess came to us and said she had a patio table if we wanted to have it. Well of we did, and moved. And sat. And sat and sat and sat. Beers went from 3/4, to half to empty. And nobody came. So I left some cash for our beers and we walked out, I didn't catch it but afterwards my brother said as we were moving tables, our original server mumbled peace out and threw deuces behind us when we left the back room to move to the patio. But at least the one beer we had was pretty good. So, I hate to say it, but based on the service this place gets my hard pass recommendation. read more

First impressions: awkwardly quiet. Decent amount of people here, but the music is low and everyone is talking quietly as if this is a high end restaurant. Definitely isn't, so it just feels really awkward. Maybe it's the day? Maybe it's because it's shortly after lunch? The beer: not the best. It's good enough to be forgettable. The food: way better than expected. The fried chicken is good and the waffles are on point (think standard, hotel style Belgian waffle). The burger was good. Didn't care for the English muffin or American cheese, but it wasn't bad. The fries were the best thing I ate. These kind of fries I search for and always hope to get. Overall: good enough to reach for 4 stars. I don't see myself eating her again because I live in Denver and there wasn't anything memorable, but it's a good place. read more

This place is really bad. The "chicken crispies" are described on the menu as breaded chicken thigh strips but actually are just little leftover pieces of chicken skin that they bread and deep fry. Nothing but oily fatty breading around chicken skin. The menu also says to pick two sauces with this pathetic dish but they then charge you extra for the sauces. I have been to the Post Chicken & Beer in Boulder twice now, post hike of course, and have been very satisfied with the food and service both times! Both times I have gone we have not had reservations, but were able to get seated in about 20-25 minutes. Definitely worth the wait. Both times I have got the brussels sprouts, which are always a go-to dish for me to order at restaurants. These ones do not disappoint; fried and topped with cotija cheese, these are a must. For my entrees, I have ordered the chicken sandwich and the chicken tenders. Both were very good, but I would recommend ordering the chicken sandwich over the tenders. All in all, this is a great spot in Denver for brews and some hearty food. Perfect post hike meal! read more

This place was amazing!! Everything we had was delicious and the people here were very nice. Our server was Maxwell and he was great and checked on us and made sure we were always doing okay. I had the ranch BLT and the other people in my group had the shrimp Po'boy and the special which was two pieces of chicken with one white and one dark piece. They were all fantastic and full of flavor. The chicken was super crispy as was the shrimp and that BLT was amazing. Get the extra and get the heat add on cause it kicked up to the next level. To me it wasn't hot it just added an extra pop of flavor but it was still amazing. We also had the collard greens and they were very good as well. They cook them so differently and it was great. The chicken and waffles here taste like Thanksgiving dinner. At first I wasn't sure how I felt about it because it didn't feel like chicken and waffles that I was expecting. We really enjoyed this restaurant! We had friendly and efficient service and we enjoyed our meals. We got two different versions of the fried chicken sandwiches, one with fries, one with the green chili Mac and cheese. We wanted to love the Mac and cheese and it wasn't terrible but we didn't love it. Personally I thought the breadcrumb topping took away from it rather than added to it. We really loved the chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches for dessert, we got one with cookies and cream ice cream and one with cookie dough ice cream. They were super frozen when they arrived at the table so we had to wait a bit for them to soften, but they were yummy! If we pass through Boulder again this place will be on our list! read more

Exploring Boulder makes a man hungry, so after spending all morning walking and seeing what the city had to offer, I was intrigued by the options offered downtown. My taste buds were thirsty for a good brew and feeling some fried chicken. I found The Post and was invited in by the lovely ambience of a midday post lunch rush. I started with their most popular beer, an ale named Townie. It was a solid brew, but not my favorite (I was expecting it to be a bit more hoppy). It paired well with the lunch special that day, which was chef's pick of pieces of chicken served with choice of one side. Since waffles are a side, I basically saved a few dollars on their chicken and waffles dish. Their waffles were great, served with a special pumpkin syrup. The chicken was delicious and juicy but not the best I've ever had. It is gluten free, however, and has been featured on the Travel Channel, so I think it is worth a try. I would go back here or any of the other locations and order a different beer and meal. They seem to know what they're doing and are an excellent stop for locals and tourists alike. read more

Reprehensible behavior from the bartender, food was cold by the time she finally decided to serve it. Worst attitude and behavior we have ever witnessed. One of the servers apologized and the other customers were embarrassed. They really need to place a rainbow flag in the window to let straight couples know to not expect service or professional behavior. I said yes and she came back with samples of 3 to try! All of them were delicious. With difficulty, I chose the Townie. It was so refreshing, especially after a hike in the mountains. The food, the service are both mediocre. Came here one night for dinner and the brewery tour. The space is huge and we were setup in one of the private rooms in the back. The interior decor is of rustic dark wood color, lighting is also very dark. We got a bunch of appetizers to share and also the dinner was a bunch of items lined up buffet style. The food was mediocre at best. The only thing that was memorable was the chicken liver pate. The whole place was super hot and we were getting a headache sitting there and all the girls were getting lightheaded. Lack of temperature control for the place. Service was ok, a bit slow at times. The Post Bar has plenty of room and a welcoming atmosphere that was just what we were looking for. Have a seat at the bar or find a seat at one of their many tables. Our server was kind and sweet, giving us suggestions on food since we saw several options we liked. We decided on a flight of three and the chicken and waffles. Our flight consisted of the Big Rosie Porter, the Sunrise to Sunset, and the 1771 IPA. All three were very nice beers- complex flavors and richness all around. The chicken and waffles was amazing. It's the ultimate sweet and savory combination and both pieces were hot, fresh, crispy and delicious. There was chorizo country gravy that was awesome right along with the maple syrup.
