Oregon Seafood Pasta
Marty T.

The menu here delighted my senses just reading it. Stopping by before watching the sunset on Cape Arago, I chose to carb-load with the Oregon Seafood Pasta and enjoy the four-oyster shooter plate, and I'm glad I chose to stop here. The hot tea and the warm bread served with a whipped margarine type of a butter helped me thaw after a chilly breeze in the evening; the quality of service was outstanding. I also was the only diner here for most of my meal as I came close to the closing time. The food came out quickly and the pasta dish was amazing. Can't wait to come back.

The best thing about tonite was the server, she was polite and sweet and the only server in the whole dining room! It was busy too! She had to apologize to every guest for the service being slow! The very last thing a restaurant owner wants to hear is anyone apologizing for anything in their place! Don't know what was wrong with the kitchen but everything was to well done except the salad. The place is located in a nice area to bad the food sucks! We had to pay a pretty penny for bad food! Maybe avoid till there are changes.

This is a nice upscale restaurant. They serve pleasant food with good service. The view is one of the best in this area of the state. Lobster tale was nice steak tender but dry. Veggies and salads were fresh and appealing visually with plenty of tasty spices or sauces. Waitress was nice friendly and split our meal great. We each had a salad and were not disappointed with the fresh bread at all. The ambiance was clean but dated. The partially walled off areas made this feel maze like and everything was minimally wheelchair accessible. There were nice drinks and quick bar but less busy and older made it less fun.

On our tour of restaurants in the Coos Bay Area where we now live, we were given a gift card for this delightful place. We went for happy hour at 4:30 and first of all their happy hour menu is great good portions really good food for a great price, drinks too I got the special, whole crab it came with a salad and fries and it was all amazing, the bread was fresh and so good. The service was great as well. We loved it and are excited to keep coming back

The food was good. The chowder was not the best with now much clams. Older restaurant with not much interior updates but part of the bay setting. Very friendly staff!Nice views down by the bay.

Well, as I said in my previous reviews, we would come back to the Portside Lounge to try the dining area. Arriving at 4:30 we were the first to enter & chose to sit in the bar area What can I say? It was wonderful! Large helpings, friendly service & a nice atmosphere. Eli was our waiter & was very good, checking on us often. In the area & hungry? Have dinner here, you won't regret it at all.

Singapore Sling improvised

Well Covid-19 aside. A Mai tai that looks like a mojito and tastes bitter with mint? Not all the stuff to make a Singapore Sling but the bartender is pretty good and can substitute, NOT. It looked and tasted the same as the mail tai minus the mint. Recommend you go back to bartending school. Ordered the Stuffed Petrale Sole Monterey. It was described as Petrale Sole stuffed with shrimp mozzarella and dungeoness crab topped with cheddar. I was asked if I wanted mashed potatoes or rice. I got mashed potatoes. Good thing because that full boat of "sole stuffed with cheese shrimp and crab was 99% rice. Glad the mashed potatoes and gravy earned the one star or I would be sad to give one star. Service was ok. I do not need to come back. I would not recommend to my crazy aunt, family member or enemy. Stay away unless you want to waste money.

Chewy, gritty , razor clams
Steve S.

Very disappointing! I love razor clams. I have a couple spots in our north coast that I've been going to for years. Always good. This spot was recommended to me by staff at my hotel. The razor clams were terrible. They weren't cleaned very well and we're extremely Sandy/gritty and chewy. They were served me on a paper plate with a plastic fork for an outrageously high price. I will never come back here again.

The food was not very good and the bench was dirty with a bunch of crumbs quite gross. The waitress was nice at least.

Mondays & Tuesdays in Coos Bay & North Bend are disappointing, because many of the best restaurants are closed on those days. Not the case w/ Harbor Lights, they're open on all the days. I loved their smoked turkey sandwich & their Marionberry lemonade; I could probably eat that daily. The kids loved their pulled pork sandwich & hamburgers. They have friendly, great service each time we go. It's been impossible not to be a glutton here. I had cheesecake for dessert & a peanut butter pie to go. I wish they still had their lava cake, but they have plenty of other options to choose between. I'm looking forward to the next trip already.

Finally, with friends visiting from Washington, we made a special trip up to Reedsport, just to try it out. Best dining experience for a long time, for each of us! We called in for reservations, and the host nabbed us a table by the window, with an incredible view out across the bay. Upon arrival, Ron greeted us like we were family, and promptly offered us a tour of this very unique facility. The remains of a retired Coast Guard cutter, the entry way brings you into what looks to be a steel galleyway. Portholes peek through to the bar area and dining rooms. Up top, guests can reserve a private dining room, built from the original Bridge Cabin of the ship! Ron's original artwork adorned the walls of the place, and were quite unique - definitely adds to the decor. We sat down with the menu, and were pleased with the excellent variety of items available. We started off with the Clams Portuguese appetizer, and all LOVED it! In my opinion, it could have included a few more wheels of the Linguica, but the flavor was perfect. The drinks menu was very inviting, but considering that we were all extending our Dry January tradition, opted to try them on another visit. For our main course, my partner ordered the Beef Stroganoff. Being an aficionado of this dish, and having her own special recipe herself, she really loved how the flavors blended. Our guests ordered the Spaghetti di Frutti di Mare, and the Shrimp Louis salad. Both were delicious! I requested the Huckleberry-glazed Salmon, and was delighted with the consistency. The turmeric rice side dish was fantastic as well. Our favorite item was the Flowerpot Bread - a dense, two-toned baked roll, with a crusty shell. Very nice for wiping out all the delicious sauce residue from our meals. The parking was just a minor challenge; it is shared with the restaurant next door, so we ended up parking in what seemed to be boat trailer spots. Fortunately, there were no boats coming or going that evening, but it could be dicey during salmon season. We will definitely be back soon, however, to try out some of the other excellent-looking menu items!

Went to Big Fish for a couple of birthday dinners and was very excited to try the food that had been recommended The appetizers were delicious clams Portuguese and coconut shrimp were definitely tasty they were out of clam strips. On the other had Thai peanut pasta which was not as described it was more like thick peanut rigatoni pasta with the same vegetables for the night and chicken stirred into not on top. the deserts that were ordered were pumpkin creme brulee and keylime pie both were not flavorful the pie tasted and had the texture of paste. This doesn't deter me from returning but just what not to order next visit.

We were seated right away and our waitress gave us window seating so we could have a river view. I told the waitress it was my daughters birthday, hoping they would do something special for her later. We ordered a few drinks and made our food order. It took about 20 minutes before we were served. I ordered the burger and fries. My hubby ordered the fish and chips and my daughter ordered the mac N cheese. Everything looked good, however, my fries were lacking warmth and my burger bun was stale. It was not soft and fresh. I ended up not eating the bun, but just the burger itself. My daughters mac N cheese wasn't as great as she expected either. It was bland and dry. Yes, it had cheese, but it was stringy and not creamy. My husband loved his fish and chips. Hot and fresh and looked amazing. I did have a bite and it did taste really good. Note taken: Do NOT order anything but the fish and chips. When we were finished a new waitress gave us our receipt and asked if we needed anything else. I wanted to tell her we needed more water, but we were ready to go. I wish they would have filled up the carafe of water "before" I was about to leave. And..on top of that...no birthday surprise for my daughter. Some places sing a song or give a small dessert. But nope...not here. Oh well...I think I'll skip this place for any kind birthday celebrations.
