I had booked the Ovation for lunch beforehand, which I had managed to book on a Thurs for the exact same day! Widowed suddenly in Sept. They were brilliant & sorted us out. A while ago they went down hill a bit, but they got a new producer a few years ago and they are definitely back, with great shows, production values, actors and all that you could want for a place that does not fail to satisfy.

But it took a trip to Chichester this October to see the best play of our lives and our favorite performance ever- Sir Ian McKellen in a profound and stunning performance as King Lear. The festival grounds are beautiful and there were several nice options for pre theater snacks and refreshments. But what blew us away was the gorgeous, intimate stage (the Minerva) and the high caliber of every performance. We had wondered if an excursion to Chichester from London would be worth it, and it ended up being the highlight of our trip. We will definitely include Chichester on our next trip to London.

One star off for having prices on everything (food, coffee, wines, etc) except the beers for some reason, and for giving a uselessly vague answer when I inquired as to prices. Also could have done with fewer adverts for their membership program during the trailers, c'mon guys, endless ads are one of the things that makes multiplexes so annoying. No hunger games here. It's almost like being in your own home but with a giant 3D screen and having your own chef to grease the dining experience and bring you joy With only 2 screens, they have to be creative with rotating and scheduling their films but they do fit in a good mixture of big hits and more art house showings, including the sound of music from live broadcasts Highly recommended
