Let's get the negative stuff out of the way first. The road up to Play Cafe has to be seen to be believed. The pot holes are many and deep and the whole road is bumpy, muddy and a bit of a nightmare. So don't wash the car before you go. Also, most indoor play areas have signs up asking you not to eat or drink your own stuff but the staff will turn a blind eye if you do. Not in Play Cafe. These guys will appear miraculously beside you and tell you off if you so much as rustle a contraband smuggled-in bag of crisps.
So those two things aside, Play Cafe is pretty good. Only a couple of years old, everything is still in great condition and there are plently of tables for the adults to sit at with a clear view of both the toddlers and the older kids area.
The area for older kids is fab - ball pits, slides and huge gun things which fire out sponge balls. The structure goes right up to the high celing which provides enough sense of adventure for kids up to about 10.
There are also some motorised cars but these are £1 a go and don't last very long so I have a rule of one go on the cars per visit.
The cafe is OK, with a limited range of snacks but plenty of drinks. Kids meals are available but they are strictly of the frozen chicken nugget school of cooking.
Entry is £4.50 which is good value as you can stay for a couple of hours so a great way to pass a rainy day. read more
