They serve pretty good food and there seems to be a nice atmosphere when ever I have been in. The only trouble when you are sitting outside can be the noise because its sits right on a main road which is very busy. The Rising sun isn't in the town centre, it is in between Hull and beverley so It is more of a locals pub and although I am not local any more I never feel awkward there like some places.

A couple of weeks ago I was driving by with friends when we decided to pop in. There was a young blonde girl behing the bar with the most miserable expression on her face. Even while serving us she did not smile once. My sister and her husband then went in on 18/1/2014 and said there was a dark haired woman who again did not smile once. Can I just remind these individuals, they work with customers therfore offer a customer service, working in this area myself I know in order for people to return, I use my commen sense to welcome families etc by offering a warm and approachable experience in the hope they would return. I would suggest to the manager these ladies either go on customer service training or give them their P45s. Would I return, NOT A CHANCE. they are clearly in the wrong job and there is plenty out there who could do anything for a role like that. Get a grip, it costs nothing to smile.

It is a large pub with 2 bars, several pool tables, smoking area, food available and of course cheap drinks!! It also hosts sports on 2 of their large screens and sometimes boasts local bands It is in a chain of 'It's a Scream' pubs which means if you are a student and can prove so, you can bag yourself a yellow card which can knock around 50p to £1 off certain drinks. I myself am not a student but because of the friendly atmosphere i go here most friday & saturday nights.

Furley's has an amazing beer selection - both craft and cask - which always includes Atom, a local brewery. It has a fantastic atmosphere and very friendly. Much recommended! My only gripe is the beer price, which are on the expensive side at around about £5 in the whole, for 2/3 pint! I'm still a regular visitor, however, which is testament to the place!

Black paintwork and nicotine walls. Black Boy dates back to the 1330s, though the first reference to licenced premises on the site was in 1729. Most now is 17th and 18th century. Ye Olde Black Boy is the definitive genuine traditional Olde English pub and of course it has a ghost. it is a little slave boy (hence the name) who was a servant there before the abolishion.
