If there's a place out there with more selection, better prices and more competent, friendly staff, I have yet to find it and doubt I ever will. If you're a smoker, this place is a DESTINATION, to be sure!
For starters, the store is IMMACULATE. The shelves/displays are always stocked full not because stock isn't selling, but because the staff are constantly restocking! Speaking of staff, they are beyond friendly and knowledgeable. You are always warmly greeted when entering the store - they are HAPPY you're there and very proud of their store!
As far as RYO selection (my primary reason for visiting), SP has the biggest and best selection of tobacco, tubes and supplies, second only to the best online stores. When you figure shipping costs into online shopping, SP is highly competitive and has the advantage of the customer knowing they're buying fresh, properly hydrated tobacco and not low-turnover stuff that's been sitting in a crappy environment drying out. (As a highly respected online store says, "Squeeze the bag; If it sounds like potato chips, don't buy it because it's all dried out.") You also don't have to worry that your tubes will arrive crushed and beaten up! The tobacco I've purchased from SP has always been nice and fresh/hydrated and the tubes in pristine condition! In addition to the major RYO "Pipe Tobacco" brands (OHM, Privateer, Kentucky Select, Gambler, etc), they also carry a nice selection of "Cigarette Tobacco" such as Drum, American Spirit, Bugler and Peter Stokkebye. Their selection of tubes is unbelievable! SP also carries a HUGE selection of "standard fare", manufactured cigarettes, many of which are "off-brand".
For cigar smokers, a large humidor room boasts top names such as Macanudo, H. Upmann, My Father, Montecristo, CAO and many more. SP also has a section for Pipe smokers which includes large jars of by-the-ounce tobaccos as well as the "standard" offerings like Captain Black, Half & Half and Prince Albert as well as a good selection of supplies and a few pipes.
A large chunk of the square footage, as with a lot of smoke shops these days, is dedicated to vape juices/vaping supplies and cannabis smoking paraphernalia. As these areas are located away from my areas of interest, I can't speak to their impressiveness (or the lack thereof), only to say that they have a LOT of glass offerings that are nicely presented.
With pristine surroundings, a relaxed vibe, and a HUGE number of offerings, SP is THE place for smokers (the dregs of society) to comfortably shop for all things smoking! If visiting for the first time, give yourself a good block of time to enjoy looking around - the employees won't mind a bit!
