In true Irish pub-style, and in contrast in other bars in Waterloo, the Snug is somewhere you can always strike up a conversation with strangers. People who go there are naturally friendly, and the confined spaces help too. There's also a decent-sized outdoor terrace where, once again, I keep finding myself chatting with someone new.
Otherwise it's rather quaint, but unremarkable. Good pub food, nice traditional decor, and prices in line with Waterloo (ie. slightly more expensive than it should be). The main problem is that it lies far out of the town centre, so if you start your night where the rest of the nightlife is, it's a bit of a trek to get to.
The one thing I do lament is that the staff aren't Irish. Don't get me wrong, I love the Belgians, but there's something very comforting about Irish staff in an Irish pub. And since Oscar's - in Waterloo town centre - does have lovely Irish staff, AND makes possibly the best burgers I've ever had in my life, I have little reason to ever go here.
