I went to this facility on Tuesday, February 5 in search of a particular dog that they were…read morefeaturing on Petfinder.com. Upon arriving at the facility, I was advised that the dog that I was interested in had been adopted approximately two weeks prior. I inquired as to why this particular dog was still being featured on Petfinder.com as being up for adoption at the facility, but I never did get a straightforward answer. Instead, I was advised to call the administrator of the facility and speak to her about the type of dog that I was seeking as all of the types of dogs that I was interested in were being fostered, and that the administrator would send me photos of the dog(s) to my phone... no thank you, I didn't drive 50+ miles to look at photographs sent to my phone. While in the office chatting about the dog that was no longer available, I happened to look up at the eraser board on the wall and noticed that their adoption fees had jumped up to $175 for dogs. Now I will say this, this is not necessarily a low rating against the Blytheville Humane Society, but instead, of their affiliation with Petfinder.com. I have had good service with reasonable prices in the past with this particular facility in Blytheville, but none of the animals that they have out there are worth $175... In my humble opinion. If they would drop the adoption fees back down to a reasonable rate, I very well may have come home with a dog yesterday. But not at those ridiculous rates. From now on I will focus my search efforts on the private sector.
