Our first time at the Washington County Fair and it was FANTASTIC! We spent 3+ hours in the barns…read morelooking and learning about the livestock. The 4-H participants did a great job talking about their cows, sheep, goats, swine, horses and poultry. The donkey and draft horses are my favorites. The agriculture exhibitions were interesting and informative, too. Buffalo Barfield always puts on an amazing country/Americana musical performance! The vendors are plentiful to purchase meals, snacks and drinks. We enjoyed fresh cut fries, hamburgers, hotdogs, fresh squeezed lemonade and cinnamon funnel cakes. Admission is reasonable and there were many musicians. We did not go to the midway as our days of going on rides is behind us. This a lovely family friendly fair. We look forward to next year!

My wife Laurie and I visited Fort William Henry on August 7, 2026. CJ had just finished the musket…read moredemonstration. I asked him when the next demonstration was and he suggested that we go and watch the cannon demonstration and firing, which we did and then after that he would give us a private demonstration of the musket. The cannon firing was expertly explained by Ted O., who explained technically what a soldier did to fire a cannon, but also engaged members of audience and made it fun! Then we went back to see CJ and he gave us a great demonstration on how to fire a musket. He also explained the parts of the musket to us, including the novel way that it is cleaned. But CJ didn't stop there, he shared with us that he is a 6th and 8th grade history teacher and since I'm a teacher too, I found his explanation of how he engages his students to bring history alive fascinating! CJ said that the colonists might have not won the war against Britain, if it hadn't been for all the military experience they acquired by fighting alongside the British in the French and Indian War for seven years. Then we went onto the 12 noon talk by Ted O., who gave a very enthusiastic and informative talk about the Fort it's construction, the history leading up to the French and Indian War and the surrender of the fort to General Montcalm and as he did in the cannon demonstration engaged the audience in his talk! Then we went and talked to Bob the carpenter. He explained to us how he was in Lake George when the fort was reconstructed in 1954 - 1955. He told us how he acquired the wood he uses to make everything made of wood that the soldiers and their families use at the fort, like chairs, tables, wooden spoons, etc. Bob was very interesting to talk to! After interacting and talking to CJ, Ted O. and Bob, my wife and I felt we were back in the 1750's and truly enjoyed our visit, which was the highlight of our vacation! He did a phenomenal job and he showed us around, telling us how to take the best photos. I got to be a demonstration. A truck show was making sound the entire time but that did not stop him. He did an excellent job and overall the tour was amazing and the history was interesting and a bit unnerving but it kept me hooked.

I am a Skidmore student, and we were asked to write an essay about a piece of art. Our class viewed…read morethe exhibit "Parallax: Framing the Cosmos." We were given a tour by the curator herself, Professor Greaves. The tour was very insightful, especially because we could hear the "museum-side" of the the process. I returned to the Tang weeks later to write my long essay, expanding on the same piece as earlier. I spoke with Ruth Thomas, who sat at the front desk. She was incredibly friendly. I ended up talking to her about my essay. She was so excited for me, and offered her help. I asked her questions about the exhibit, about Jack Shear (who donated 1,500 photographs from his collection to the Tang), and about her experience with the moon landing (as that was what I was writing about). My point? The staff are so kind. I did not see enough reviews that said this, so I was compelled to write one of my own. The Tang is a smaller teaching museum, but I believe that you get what you put into art exhibits (not financially, but emotionally). So, come to the Tang if you are looking to experience art, and are willing to connect with the art.

He gave us a brief rundown of some of the items on display and was happy to answer any questions about his curated collection dedicated to the series. It was very special getting to see on screen props from the show. There is so much to take in as there are props and memorabilia everywhere. It was fun to search around and take in all of the items. I was really in awe. The museum hosts events with actors and crew members from time to time, so be sure to check out the collections site or social media for details. Admission was 18 dollars and was quite fair for all we got to see. This was a dream come true visit for me as a fan
