My family of 4 came for breakfast. We were visiting Lancaster for a short vacation and were so glad we tried this spot. Awesome food and wonderful service. It was nice to get away from the more touristy spots close to our hotel. There seemed to be a lot of locals there. I have had breakfast here many, many times. I was always satisfied with the food (great eggs Benedict). No matter what you order it tastes great! It is always packed especially on Sundays. Waitresses always friendly and attentive. Never had any complaints! Great Management! So I've been coming to the pantry for almost 3 years now which has provided great food almost everytime but one thing that has changed my opinion about this place is everytime I come in there is a lady in the front maybe in her early 60s, little bigger, gray hair always barking out order to her staff as if it was a life or death situation. I almost find it hard not to say something to her everytime i come in, to be completely honest it has ruined my eating experience fully. In particular one repeating situation is I hear her always screaming about where is the, what seems to be a bust boy, when in fact I can see him doing his job. She is clearly too old to be doing her job is she must rely on her staff to the extent in which she does. Overall i dont think we will be coming here again just because of these repeating events that ruin the atmosphere. read more

Yum yum yum! This place has awesome brunch and breakfast food. It's usually packed on the weekends at least , so plan to wait a couple minutes for a seat sometimes. What made the experience so unpleasant to give two stars was the service. the server we got stuck with must have been her first day on the job. we had to ask for silverware as there was nothing on the table. This used to be the best place in Lancaster for breakfast. Nice staff great portions good food. BUT, when it redesigned and resized itself a few years back, it also resized (aka made smaller) their portions while raising their prices. It's a local place and the waiters are usually kids from the local colleges and area high schools. That part is nice. But the quality of the food, the size of the portions, and the increase in price, is unquestionably, unethical. read more

The fact that their fruit topped french toast has fresh fruit is reason alone to make the trip. But, add in cinnamon kissed bread, walnuts, and almonds and I rest my case. This is a nice little place for breakfast. The food and service were both very good. I had the chef's special cheesy omelette served skillet style. My daughter had the chocolate chip pancakes, and my son had the fruit mountain pancakes. With my meal, the omelette was great, home fries fantastic, and sourdough toast was tasty. The fruit mountain pancakes were great and the fruit was very fresh. The chocolate chip pancakes were good as well. We tried the Pantey Restaurant in between games of a local youth soccer tournament. Had to leave 35 minutes after ordering to get to our next game....still hungry as our food was not close to being ready. Only comment from the owner on the way out was "who is going to pay for the drinks?" Well dear hopefully the 20 I left on the table is enough to cover 2 coffees, 2 ojs and a kids lemonade. read more

My husband and I have been coming to The Pantry for at least nine years. We have never been disappointed. Over the years we have ordered just about everything on the menu. They have all been tasty and innovative. Every dish has some unexpected dollop of originality. We find The Pantry to be comfortable and homey: unpretentious but in keeping with its suburban setting. It's neither a diner nor a sandwich shop. It can better be described as a breakfast/lunch cafe. As one of it's quirks, some of the meals, while cooked on the grill, are served in shiny aluminum skillets. If that's not your style, tell the server "on a plate". No prob. While many restaurants grumble or charge extra for special requests, they comply willingly. We've often enjoyed these menu mainstays: Eggs Florentine, Baked Oatmeal, and the Pretzel Burger. These and other dishes make the place very popular. As popular as it is, waits are minimal. Mary and her small staff are on the job seven days a week and always make us feel welcome. The French Toast is awesome. My husband tried the Strawberry Stack and I had the Croissant French Toast. Both were awesome. The eggs with cheese were a little bland, get something mixed in with them to add some flavor. The staff is very nice. Service is a bit slow but it's worth it. Yikes! Saw the fairly positive reviews and decided to give it a go but it was a less than par meal. Skillets looked good so ordered but it didn't smell right when it came out and it was downright unpleasant. Also the eggs were dry and the seating was crammed too. This is the place for breakfast! Corn Beef Hash, crispy potatos and eggs, all cooked just right. I had it last time, hubby had it this time. We both agree, it's an A++. This time he had the skillet and I decided to order the "Monte Cristo Sandwich" because it's one of my all time favorites . . . . when it's made right! Regretfully, this one was not. The bread dipped like french toast and browned, and maybe sprinkled with confectioners sugar, make this sandwich . . . but not here. Regular white bread, with a little butter put on the grill and flipped within a minute, doesn't do the sandwich justice. It did have ham, and turkey in it with a piece of cheese, and some raspberry mayo on the side, but was not worth more than the skillet breakfast hubby got! It was just a sandwich. To make it more appealing, I added my slaw to the middle of the sandwich and dipped it in the Reaspberry Mayo, adding character to the sandwich. I was a bit disappointed in their rendition and presentation. My fault. This is after all, Lancaster, not Philadelphia or San Francisco where I've had Monte Cristos that still makes me salivate whenever I think of them. We'll stick to the breakfast menu from now on. They excel there ~ and we'll keep going back . . before noon. read more

TOTALY agree with Travis S. Excellent baked oatmeal and skillets. The owner or manager(not sure who she was) was constantly berating the servers, who were doing a fine job. This place is decent. Their food was really good, but it's everything else that is holding them back from a higher rating. The service is slow and certainly not the friendliest. It was like an episode of Jersey Shore when the waitresses were yelling into the kitchen about problems with orders, which I found to be totally unnecessary. This happened a few times and everyone in the restaurant could hear; kind of obnoxious. They have cans of soda instead of a fountain which I find annoying. Also, why extra for sweet potato fries? Are sweet potatoes rare and expensive or something? They charged $1 to put a slice of cheese on homefries which I think is excessive. Don't like being nickeled and dimed. Their food was pretty good though. I got the chicken salad wrap which was really good. Their slow/obnoxious service will keep me from coming back. read more

Decided to try a "New" place for breakfast. The Pantry. Turns out I've been here several times before with my beloved wife. No wonder all the reviews are so good. The food has always been great. Just don't know why I couldn't remember the name. In any case, today would have been her birthday & I thought I'd just go out and eat for a change. I'm pretty sure I was "steered" here for this celebratory (late) breakfast, but I'm SURE I'll love my Croissant French toast. Nestled right in the heart of Amish country the pantrys stellar breakfast was a cut above the rest. We got pretty lucky and got here early so we didn't have to wait for a table which is rare on a weekend. One of my favorite things about having breakfast here is sitting at a table outside but we sat inside on this trip since its the middle of winter. Our breakfasts were tasty as always, I like the variety on the menu and if you don't know what you want you can always make your own skillet. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try for breakfast if you haven't been here but be warned, if you don't get here early you will probably wait for a table. read more
