Inside, la Brasserie is kind of cosy but smart, with dark wooden furniture and jugs hanging from the beamed ceiling, and the menu offers European dishes with an emphasis on game and meat dishes. La Brasserie has a separate area outside called The Terrace, which is what this review is about. The Terrace is one of the many popular al fresco seating areas in this Mill Lane area of town, all of which get heaving with sun-seekers in the summer. It has a decent range of different wines, and its own separate menu with lunch from £7.95, including things like Caesar salad, grilled meat, and lighter bites - all tailored towards offering the type of food you want to eat when it's sunny. I've only eaten out at The Terrace (not inside La Brasserie), and the food there was pretty good, as was the wine - I'd recommend it for a lazy summer afternoon.

I came here for a works lunch, and it being the height of summer, we decided to bake outside at The Terrace. The best thing this place has going for its prime location for people watching. Admittedly, there aren't very many areas of Cardiff that beat Mill Lane for it. The food was sadly forgettable. I guess my hopes were set a bit high, but aren't everyone's? I, like Amanda, had barely finished my starter when the server came swooping around the corner with my main. The cuisine may be better in the main area of the restaurant, but to be honest, I'm not really in a hurry to find out.

Daz was a grave digger in his home town of Wolverhampton before he decided to go to college. He was a devout anarchist, (even his bank account was simply in the name of Daz), and he was also mad about the Wolves. Back in the day Bully was their key goal scorer by miles, and has probably been canonised by the Wolverhampton Diocese, or what ever they do to make someone a saint! I will never forget returning home every day to find that the very expensive can of eggshell paint I had bought for painting the bathroom had been put to a more unconventional use. The name Bully had been daubed on every wall of every house up the street! Do you get my apprehension in visiting this particular establishment? And it's a shame, because Bully's is a lovely place! Expensive though! Definitely the kind of place you'd go when you're feeling flush, and there's a special someone to impress! I called in recently during the day, and was lucky enough to witness a wine tasting session (featured in the photos). A lot of work obviously goes into getting these things right... and not only that, you need to be educated in order to do just that. I don't know a great deal about wine, but one of my closest friends is a smellier. She tells me that you train for a couple of years, but that you are constantly learning new stuff, because things change all the time. In a nutshell, Bully's is an up market French restaurant, run by a husband and wife team, Russell and Vicky Bullimore, with a lot of knowledge, flair and fun. I don't agree with some of the options on the menu, foie gras for instance, and would never try the snails, but the food that I have been willing to order has been excellent. They've added some nice little touched to the place that will make you smile, and you can tel that they have really thought about it all. I recommend it for a special occasion where it would be apt to see off a fair amount of cash on a gastronomic delight.

I finished a glass of wine before eventually decided on what I wanted. Really wasn't disappointed with my food, it was very tasty and the combination was perfect. Desert was worth a visit alone. The waiter kept the drinks flowing and it was a really pleasant night. Its not a massive place but doesn't feel squashed. Bit pricey but perfect for special occasions and a nice alternative to Le Gallois.

The food was delicious and prices were fair; the only reason why it doesn't get a 5 stars from me is down to the atmosphere. There's a bit of a lack of identity going on with Pierre Le Bistrot where I'm not really sure what to think of it. Still, I'm really happy with my experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone who is a lover of food! ~ Atmosphere: The downside. Don't get me wrong, on the inside it was absolutely lovely; the decor was beautiful! What I mean was that there is a massive disconnect with how Pierre Le Bistrot markets themselves and our experience. Rather than a pleasant lunch, the tables were a bit too crowded which left a hectic atmosphere. There was a massive group near us and we couldn't really hear our own conversation. All in all, the atmosphere didn't make for an overall fantastic experience. We were hoping to get a pleasant Saturday lunch, but instead rushed to leave. ~ Customer Service: The food came out quickly so I applaud the chef. However, our waiter spent a little too much time flirting with a group of ladies it was pretty difficult flagging him down. ~ Food: Like I said, amazing. I'd recommend the food here to anyone! For lunch, you can get a 3-course meal for a set price of £12.95 - more expensive options such as steak would have a supplement added. The portion sizes were small, but by the end of my courses I was absolutely stuffed! -- Starter -- Fritots de calamars (Calamari) Came with roasted garlic mayonnaise and it was really lovely. I'm a huge fan of battered calamari and Pierre's was great! My partner had honey-coated chorizo that I tried a piece of and it was stunning. They also provided some bread and butter - I've rarely had such high quality bread, soft and absolutely delicious. -- Main -- Slow-Cooked Lamb This was a Chef's Special so it's not on the actual menu. The lamb was melted beautifully - I didn't even need to use the knife they provided me as just the fork was fine - it was THAT tender! For each main you can choose to have potatoes, seasonal vegetables, or fries - I chose the fries and they tasted like they were likely coated in truffle oil; such a huge boost! -- Dessert -- Plateau de fromages (Cheeseboard) They had plenty of sweet options for dessert, but I opted for the cheeseboard instead as the red onion confiture caught my eye. Was really yummy as a lover of cheese. --- With how delicious everything was, I left very happy with my meal and felt that it was priced just right. Definitely a gem!

When dining here recently with friends though, I found that the waitress serving me went out of her way to make sure there was something I could eat. I ended up having a croque-monsieur, minus the ham with extra cheese (and of course the chip accompaniment). If there are any vegetarians reading this I can't describe how heavenly it tasted, and can only suggest that you go asap and try it out (I'm sure they'll be accommodating). Aside from the food I'm not overly keen on eating in shopping centres, especially when I think of the lovely views of the Bay at Cardiff's other Café Rouge. If however, you've been shopping in St Davids 2 and fancy a bite, Café Rouge certainly fits the bill.

There's a real chic, gold classic look about the place that makes for a pleasant habitat. I got my self a chicken baguette essentially which came with chips. I got it in a decent time from ordering but was little disappointed as it didn't have a lot of taste to it and would've thought this place would of been very good on that front. Service was fine and the waiter was accommodating, I just felt left wanting more from the place unfortunately.

Essentially French, Boof is an informal cafe/restaurant/bar/takeaway... Offering mostly baguettes but also Welsh steak, roasted chicken (which looked really nice as the women opposite me had it), Smoked salmon and salads on the food front. In the way of the wet stuff you have tea, coffee, Champagne, wine, beers and soft drinks. I had a cappuccino that was disappointedly small for the £2.75 a paid for it. The handle couldn't fit a finger through so I had to drink it with pinky finger out as I pinched it. I prayed there wasn't anyone I knew there that day. The waitress that served me was very pleasant and I couldn't help but notice the chef preparing a beautifully cut steak in front the customers, something I'll defiantly be going back for. There's no reservation or anything like that, just be aware it can get quite busy at times there if you want to sit down.
