This was my first time dining here, although I'm aware that it has been around for a long time now. My friend and I came on a Saturday around 5:30 and were able to find seating right away. The restaurant was busy however, tables free'd up fast. The staff were all very friendly and kind. The service was not bad. I had ordered chicken on my pasta however, the waitress had forgotten to note it down. She did apologize and explained that she had a very long day and wasn't thinking clearly. It also took a while to get water refills. I ordered the tortellini which came with your choice of soup or salad, ice cream, tea or coffee, and unlimited bread all for $18. The food was quite good overall. My friend ordered steak and pasta. I had a bite of her steak and to my surprise, it tasted decent. The bread was hot and fresh and I loved the garlic butter that came with it. Is this the fanciest and best quality pasta place? Absolutely not! That being said, for the price you pay and for the amount of food you get, it's definitely worth every penny. Good place to come if you're looking for a decent meal that won't break the bank. We came here while trying to kill a few hours. We stopped in around lunch time on a weekday and were immediately seated. Our server was nice and took our order quickly. However, food was subpar and took absolutely forever. The salad was especially drenched in dressing. read more

Our server Jessica is the reason why this place is getting 5 stars- she was on top of everything, funny, kind and nice to chat with. She gave superb service the entire time. Haven't been to the old spaghetti factory in about 8 years (in the states) the food quality seemed to go downhill a bit. The calamari was okay, unfortunately it was served with onions all over it for some reason... I hate onions so much so I couldn't get very far with them & didn't want to send them back. I've never been served calamari with onions before, not a good combo. The chicken strips & fries were great, and the plum sauce was delicious! Getting some spumoni ice cream at the end was a nice way to end our dining experience here. Probably wouldn't come back for the food but the hostesses handled a busy night with kindness and our server was great. That made up for the subpar food. read more

For what it provides - solid Italian classics, Resonable price, warm atmosphere and filling portions. First of all in both locations, it is warm and reminds me of an old pub in London. Without it being a old pub in London. This is the perfect place to go as a family. Kids are welcomed The menu is pretty basic - mainly assorted pastas, and a handful of grill items and appetizers. Why you would get appetizers, I have no idea there is unlimited bread and a bowl of soup. However our soup when came to the table wasn't near as full as it used to be. Which is unfortunate because I really love thier minestrone soup. My hubby ordered the lasagna. It was cooked well, but didn't have a great portion of meat to noodle ratio. (Too many noodles) My daughter loved the spaghetti and gobbled it up. I had the Seafood Linguine Marinara -Sauteed bay scallops, clams, prawns, and blue shelled mussels, tossed with linguine noodles in a garlic marinara sauce. It tasted fine but was really skimpy on the seafood. And looked nothing like the advertisement. Ice cream to finish. Great service and good food. We got amazing pasta dishes with the salads to start and had a wonderful dessert afterwards. It is a classic retro Americanized Italian feeling to it, with the wooden chairs and benches at the tables. With the red and white table clothes. I love the menu options as they have something that can make anyone happy. Also we had two amazing cocktails to go with dinner. We stayed at the hotel so I can't let you know about the parking but I'd absolutely recommend this restaurant read more

I forgot how good fountain coke is in Canada.. what is it?! I love it. Price friendly restaurant for the most part. Solid service. I opted for the garlic parmesan chicken wings (thank you for lots of cheese and sauce) and the price point with the taste and you get 10 wings... y'all are doing something right! Plenty of tables. It was sad to hear a half Cesar salad was $2 less than a full and the (super small) side was around $6, so I did skip that. Located in West Edmonton mall, we diner here on a Friday night. Location in on the row of restaurants, which may be tough to find as the mall it self does not have too many maps to direct you. After being sat, we were treated by a great server named Jessica. She got out drinks and food order quickly, and started us with their house bread. She was on top of refills and clearing dishes the whole night, the service and friendly staff were the highlight of the restaurant! I ordered the Chicken Alfredo with Mushroom and Mascarpone Cheese Ravioli, which while the flavors were good, the pasta was very cold and a little dried up. My wife had the Calamari and it came with quite a bit of raw red onion all over the top of them, but unfortunately,nowhere on the menu does it state that it comes with onions. It was a very busy Friday night, so I would definitely be willing to give this place another chance! Purely based on the ambiance and service, this is a great restaurant! Old Spaghetti Factory is such a guilty pleasure for me. No, it isn't the best Italian food you'll ever have but it's pretty darn tasty and always has consistently good service. Our most recent server really knocked it out of the park by offering helping suggestions - di you know you can substitute the pesto pasta instead of the side spaghetti when you get the chicken parm?! The vegetarian options are limited but tasty. My go-to is the spaghetti marinara topped with impossible meatballs. You also get to choose a soup or salad to start with. My only regret is not getting the french onion soup. A couple of my friends did and it looked fantastic. Keep in mind, this is a family-friendly restaurant so there might better options for a group of adults if you're looking for a rowdier night, but if not, it's still one of the best places to grab a meal at West Ed. read more

I feel like I've written this review before. We used to have an Old Spaghetti Factory as well as an Old Spaghetti Warehouse in the metro area where we live. Those have closed now. So, the only way I can experience the nostalgia of these places is in other cities when I am visiting. I had been to the West Edmonton Mall about 15 year ago. At that time, the aggrandized food court was in something approximating an aircraft hanger. They have since spiffed it up and it looks like a normal part of the mall. We visited on a Wednesday late afternoon, and walked up to the host station at OSF around 5 p.m. There was a short line even then. From what I observed, parties of 1 or 2 were being seated, but larger parties (one of 8) had to wait for a table. My wife and I got one of the last remaining small booths, which was nice. Some of the original locations were actually built into old buildings and thus sometimes had odd layouts. This one was designed into the mall renovation, so they probably laid it out mostly for efficiency. That's good, as it was a hive of activity and they could use all the efficiency they could get. Our server was delayed somewhere else initially, but another person dropped off waters and an initial loaf of the sourdough bread. It seemed like the loaf was a bit larger and not quite the same as I remembered, but it was okay. We were hungry. Our server then arrived (with a 2nd loaf) and things went smoothly from that point. She took our orders and brought drinks shortly. The salads were okay. The pasta was pretty much the same as always, which is nice. I appreciate it when restaurants that have a winning formula then stick with it. This is relatively generic Italian food, but it's a long way from bad and you can rely on it. The spumoni at the end is always a nice touch as well. It's nice to revisit one of these places every 2 - 3 years. read more

Service was poor. Waitress spilled an entire bowl of salad dressing down my shirt and jeans, then onto the seat. I ordered linguine, and I was given spaghetti - when I mentioned this, the waitress said that she can't really tell the difference between the different pastas (it's called SPAGHETTI factory!). For 4 adults, we were only given a small half loaf of bread. We were not offered the free ice cream which is supposed to come withe the meal. Food was mediocre. Everyone's dinner had extremely small amounts of any meat component. Tasteless and bland food. Ambience was nonexistent. Extremely noisy, so it was difficult to chat. We had to ask for sugar for the tea, and were never offered hot water refills. I definitely do NOT recommend this restaurant. read more

Had dinner at WEM location and it was terrible. Waitress came to the table 7 minutes after we sat down. Soup & salad came 15 minutes after we ordered, 25 MINUTES for main dish. They had only 1 fresh pepper grinder for the whole restaurant. The Waitress never even came to the table after we were served to check up, but very attentive when we were finished. Food was OK, nothing special. Had better spaghetti at Boston Pizza, the marinara had NO garlic and not much seasoning. Never go back their again, and recommend you go elsewhere. read more

The menu has not changed in several years. I ordered the classic spaghetti and meat sauce. Very dry pasta with not enough sauce or flavor. Even the cheese was meager. Ordered a beer for wife and i , nice draft , nice beer , how ever thinks just were not the best , Salad , good , but ordered Calamari , and ( we thought ) appatizer meat balls , Calamari , well zero out of five , and though we thought we ordered appy size meat ball order , it was and we were charged for the regular size three meat ball order , we split this , my wife ate one meat ball , none of the pasta and sampled a meat ball and said pass . Lloyd was a fantastic server, and I would recommend both the restaurant and him. Both him and the manager (?) actively checked on us multiple times. Lloyd was accommodating, friendly, and above average in providing information to our questions. One of us is celiac, and the other has a nut allergy, so this was appreciated. Because the Old Spaghetti Factory has been around for such a long time, I wasn't sure what to expect these days. About a month or two ago, myself and a friend went and had a good experience. I had the lunch steak special, but spaghetti as a side instead of the regular and a boozy bevvie. Service was very good! (Not the drink talking lol) Next: My husband & I went 2x recently and the other day, I have to say - the cooks were ON THEIR GAME! The server we had was exceptional!! I want to hire him and keep him :). It was a busy lunch hour and he ran his butt off! Back to the food: This time I had the Fettuccini with Alfredo and chicken - Amaze-balls!!! Hubby had the special: It was penne and while I can't recall the exact special - he really liked it a lot and recommends it! Seems like the Old Spaghetti Factory is reviving it's game! Okay... so it's not fancy but it's good (consistent), cheap & fast! This place is perfect for large groups or coming with small children. I love that all the meals come with a small starter salad and unlimited bread with garlic butter... Mmm.... yeah, I'm usually pretty full after eating more than my share of warm & fresh bread with garlic butter (that my husband and I always sprinkle the dried parmesean cheese on that's at the table...) then comes the entrees... we're pretty predictable and usually pick Ala Homer's Mizra (spelling) pasta - Mmm... cheese and butter... so delicious and so bad for you & ravioli because it reheats well from here! And to finish the meal off, we always enjoy the included spumoni ice cream and coffee... For under $30 including tip - you can have a meal for 2 with bread, salad, pasta, dessert, and coffee! Mmm... I can almost taste it now... so simplistic and yet so satisfying! And the best part... I don't feel bad if my toddler starts to fuss! I love the Old Spaghetti factory. Coming here was always a treat since there isn't one close to me. I was here for dinner the other day and I don't know if they were having an off day or what. I ordered my usual of spaghetti with mushroom sauce. So excited with memories of past where the sauce was brimming with button mushrooms. When my plate showed up I was underwhelmed. There was barely any sauce. Not to mention very few mushrooms. It's been a few years so maybe things have changed but I was so disappointed. I was hesitant to try the Bourbon Street location of OSF. I have been going to the downtown location for at least 25 years now and I just didn't think this one could live up to it. I was partially right. The atmosphere and ambiance is really not the same... though it definitely stands on it's own. It's gorgeous in there. A modern take on the concept downtown. Service was phenomenal. Phoebe was my server last night and I think she loves her job. If not, she fakes it really well! She was really friendly and on the ball. The food is great and the value can't be beat. For $14 you get bread, soup or salad, your spaghetti (higher $$ if you get a bigger entree, obviously, ice cream AND coffee/tea. The Old Spaghetti Factory has been an Edmonton Staple for decades, and I've been meaning to go for about that long. I finally got my chance, and now I understand why they've been around for so long. Fantastic everything. True, it was a forty-five minute wait, but it doesn't seem that long when you're chatting with old friends. Our waitress was polite and knowledgeable. The menu was simple and I liked it that way. The thing that impresses me the most about this place is the old school 'all included' deal with an old school price. Coffee and Tea are included, as is your soup or salad. Bread and butter. Plus you get a little scoop of ice cream at the end. No one does that anymore! Some places you'd be lucky if they didn't charge you for coffee refills. And the price itself belongs in the early eighties too. For the record, I had spaghetti two ways--Clam sauce and the fancy cheese with browned butter sauce. It was al dente, and the flavors were comforting and a little decadent. And again, I think the prices would have been fair, even without adding beverages, soup or salad, and dessert. Wish I could go back right now. read more

This is a popular family place so if you don't want to dine next to a kid's birthday party good luck with that. It seems there are a few a night. My boyfriend used to work her years and years ago and he knows everything on the menu, so he could rhyme off the ingredients they use, portion sizes and personal ratings. The food is essentially Italian comfort food. I would give it a 3 out of 5. If you need a carb fix, you can't go wrong with the spaghetti and meatballs or the lasagna. It's hot and delicious, if not gourmet. The portions are really big here, so if you're feeling a big family on a budget, each meal includes drink, salad and dessert, so you're set. I like this location because it's multi-leveled, has lots of different crooks and crannies, so you can find a space you like, and the service is fast and ultra-friendly. The Old Spaghetti Factory in West Ed is one of my favourite restaurants in the city! The restaurants reminds me (in my altered dream state of reality) of a 1910's New York back alley/warehouse. The walls are brick, lots of wood interior, stained glass, knick-knacks, and turn of the twentieth century items and decor - fun things to look at when you're waiting for your meal. Not to mention the illustrations and pictures on the menu. OK, now about the food. The focus of their cuisine is Italian of course. It's not executive chef quality but very good none-the-less. The pasta dishes are great - I recommend the chicken con pollo (yup, love cream based pasta). Each meal comes with warm loaves of bread and butter/garlic butter as an appetizer. Of course additional appetizers are available. Their menu also offers soup, salad, sandwiches and of course pasta. They have a full bar so you can have a tasty beverage with your meal. Anytime I've been to the Old Spaghetti Factory I've found the service to be good, a little slow at times but that is due to the sheer amount of people to serve and the over all experience enjoyable. read more

This location has moved closer to the mall doors and is always busy. The service is okay and you really get your money's worth. The lunch and dinner meals include coffee or tea (I find the water is never hot enough for the tea), a minestrone soup or salad, fresh loaf of sourdough bread and spumoni ice cream. The soup always looks good. The salad is lettuce with a bit of shredded carrots and your choice of their homemade dressings. They offer regular butter and garlic butter with the bread. I don't think you can get their ice cream flavour anywhere else, but a great way to complete your meal. I've tried many items and you can never go wrong. This is a great place for families and good for a simple lunch or dinner, especially after some shopping. read more

Amongst many things, what I love about this restaurant is the comfort factor, you can always rely on getting a delicious meal and excellent customer service! I have been to the west end and downtown location and have never left without having a enjoyable evening. I love the sourdough bread with garlic butter to start and I always pick the minestrone soup, today we had the bam bam shrimp to as a appetizer as well, such a nice sweet and spicy flavour. My favourite entree is the penne with chicken with its white wine basil cream sauce mixed with peppers and mushrooms, it is so very enjoyable and savoury, keeps you coming back to order again. And of course the spumoni ice cream is the perfect end to a perfect meal. The customer service has always been great but at this last time we went at the west end location it was even more exceptional, very nice and efficient, making us feel very welcomed. We have a few of these in Vancouver and have been going for decades. Our kids love this place as it has lots of offerings and the quality is always above average. We've never had a bad meal or experience. This location is similar to the other places in BC. Our waitress did a real good job for the 5 of us. It's furnished in a way that makes it look classic and a bit older. The food here is good and the menu has a lot to offer. I say it's a place suited appropriately for families. It has a really friendly atmosphere. They also serve giant portions so don't snack before hand. The service is really good too. I really love the decor in the new location. The space is bright and open, which really shows you how underutilizes it was when to was still Delux. It's warm, inviting, and the lighting is gorgeous. Our server was friendly and attentive shout harassing us every five minutes. This is my favourite kind of service. The food was average. I had the lasagna, and it tasted very similar to a frozen PC product I get. The cheese on too was burnt, which I happen to like, but that also meant some of the noodles wert stuck to the ends of the dish and inedible. My husband had the red Thai curry with prawns, and the sauce stuck to the noodles more than he was expecting. He did like he last bits of the dish the best as he was able to get more sauce with each bite. The included ice cream was mostly pistachio, which is not my favourite, but was decent. Shawn really liked it, and ended up eating most of it. I also had a hot chocolate, which was more than half filled with whipped cream. This made the bread with garlic butter the best part of the meal for me. Overall, it's good for a quick and inexpensive bite to eat at the mall, and the decor is lovely. We ate here this evening with our 2 year old and 4 year old for a family night out. We ended up getting sat in a weird cubby area right between the bathroom and the kitchen. The dish pit for the kitchen was located right behind me and the noise drowned out any conversation we attempted to have. The service was slow and not particularly friendly. The food was mediocre at best. The place was also packed with fruit flies. The walls in the area we were sitting in were absolutely covered in fruit flies. I'm assuming as a result of us being so close to the kitchen. My husband did like his brown butter spaghetti but all in all the experience was poor, though not awful.
