The Villa is located just off the Harbour front area on a short-cut to the Market square. This is a real shame as it means most people might easily miss this little Gem. It's position & the fact it is closed Sundays & Mondays may explain why it has taken a little while for my first visit. It has a surprising amount of seating inside, but we headed straight through the main shop to the small Garden/Patio out back. Although pretty private & secluded it still managed to keep a cooling breeze through the covered patio. The Food menu is simple but for a light lunch it's just right. The Staff were extrememely attentive without being in-your-face. It also worth remembering that it closes a 5pm each day. Maybe closing so early & only open 5 days a week indicates the owners like to be around? If you want a relaxed light lunch, or a high-tea this may just be what you are looking for.

Tucked a little out of the way, in a more residential area of Stonehaven is The Villa. And it feels just like that; like somebody has turned their house in to a coffee shop. You'll be welcomed through the hallway and taken to a free table in one of the several rooms of the 'house.' - I don't think I've ever been to a café like this before, and I really enjoyed the whole experience. The decor was minimal with a few quirky signs and fairy lights to set the mood. I really liked theses little additions, which created a lovely homely atmosphere. The baking? It's all homemade. I can only speak for the carrot cake but it was heavenly; moist and flavoursome and light with a scrumptious cream cheese frosting. The latte was lovely too. The cherry on the cake of good coffee and cake is always good service, and The Villa didn't disappoint in this respect. We felt attended to and staff were super friendly and welcoming. A home away from home with cracking good coffee and cake!

Oh dear. I really didnt like this place…read more First off, I sat too close to the front door and everytime someone came in or out we got a horrendous chill from outside. The service was OK, but the food was pretty awful. The lasagne was congealed cheese sauce, floating in oil, with very little pasta or mince. The garlic bread was terrible too - a part of a baguette with garlic butter on it not toasted very well. Side salad was a poor excuse for a salad too. The garlic bread was served a good 15 minutes before the lasagne came out and it was on the menu as a side, not a starter. A table who ordered after us got their meals before us. We both ordered pasta so no excuse for that in my eyes. They dont serve the all day breakfast between 12 and 2pm. Work that one out if you can. The coffee was made from a machine but was soooooo weak. It looked like dishwater and was weaker than a latte. The only positive was the decor, and the cakes in their cake trolley looked absolutely delicious, I didnt try them though.

Children are also welcome, which wasn't the case with the previous owners! Surprised by red dress's review, must have been having a bad day and anyway can't understand the need for a full breakfast at lunchtime!!

We sat in the nearly empty cafe upstairs and it seemed quite pleasant, with a view over the street. I didn't realise that there wasn't waitress service and a member of staff informed me rather brusquely that I had to order at the counter. Considering that we were sitting right next to the counter and she was just standing there, not to mention the fact that we were new customers, you'd think she might have taken our order anyway as we were only about five feet away! We then had a very long wait for a sandwich and a jacket potato, a coffee and a tea. At over £13 we thought it was overpriced, although I have to say it was nicely presented. The two young women who were working there that day were both offhand and could do with some lessons in how to make customers feel welcome. We did not and we shall try a different cafe the next time we're in Stonehaven.

I did go in several times to do some writing for my Masters Dissertation, when I didn't want to spend another day in the library or just needed a change of pace. (I will say, this cafe isn't the best for super focused working. The volume was a bit too loud, with various conversations happening in different corners and music playing as well. I was on occasion able to find a nook that gave me a bit more privacy and quiet though.) I also brought friends in to try my neighborhood spot, and then we would be those people chatting away. My usual choice was their chai latte, it was not too sweet, creamy, and well spiced. The overall vibe was just so cheery and cosy, with walls of used books for perusing and purchase, yellow paint, and windows out onto Belmont St for Grade A people-watching. Super cool that all of their coffee and tea is FairTrade, and they're the only independent, fully fair trade coffee shop in Aberdeen. Woop, I'll keep supporting them for sure. Can't wait for my next visit this summer!

The only problem is you can't get a seat some times and have to walk to the other one 5 min away to see if that has a seat free! Henry's offers a great selection or hot and cold beverages and also has food which caters for most dietary needs. They carry a range of soya, gluten free, vegan etc. They are are also always willing to help cater for anything that's not listed. The majority of the staff are very welcoming (yes I'm a sucker for nice staff) and they also have free wifi which is always a bonus if you have an hour or so to kill. The coffees it's self are great tasting and when you ask for a large... you get a large and they also have a license for alchol, so if it's cold there happy to pop a cheeky wee tipple of whisky in there! There are two Henry's, theres one on the seagate with no outdoor seating and one, which is my favorite, at the main square which has outdoor seating.
