The food is truly authentic German, the selection of beer is superb, and the atmosphere ranges from Gaststube to Bierkeller with live music. Social membership is just $1 for lifetime membership and saves $2 or $3 off meal prices. The menu is great with very reasonable prices, and you can check it out online beforehand. The serving sizes are big, a little fancier than your typical front bar pub meals but definitely as large, and you might struggle to eat your big fluffy pancake with maple syrup and cream that comes complimentary with your main! I was impressed with the service too, staff at RSLs are usually good but these guys were excellent. Someone checks on each table shortly after the mains arrive to check that everything is ok and there are smiles all around. We can vouch for the mixed grill (huge), the pizza (delicious), and the schnitty (very nice). The risotto was creamy and tasted great, but I was expecting roasted capsicum, and it seemed to be fresh instead, so I was a bit disappointed and couldn't give the whole 5 stars (yes, I'm picky). We'll definitely be back to work our way through the menu!

Depending on your taste, I suppose Sweet Dessert Shop could be considered exotic and fancy. It is an Asian style dessert joint offering 'sweet soup styled desserts', the most popular being the tofu range with bean toppings. They also do coconut milk based desserts, glutinous balls and some varieties of ice kacung (shaved ice with topping- traditional Malaysian dessert). Most desserts are under $5 and can be easily packaged for take away. This place is definitely worth a try if you're curious about Asian style desserts.

I have to say, I love visiting restaurants with menus that feature sloppy spelling and grammar, or…read morehilariously misconstrued translations. So for me, dining in Sunnybank is an absolute treat! The Sweet Dessert Shop had myself and a bunch of friends in tears the other night, and not just because the desserts were simply delicious (I'll get to that later). What should have read as 'black glutinous rice' was written as 'black glutious rice', which would evoke a completely different taste, and possibly be regarded as bordering somewhat on cannibalism. Translations aside, the Sweet Dessert Shop dishes up a mean sugary feast, that'll have your cavity-stricken teeth asking for more. My personal favourite is shaved ice with red beans ($4.80), which successfully combines the crunch of ice with the chewiness of the red beans. On a cold day, the hot mochi ($3.50) is fabulous. For those not in the know with Asian desserts, mochi hails from Japan and is basically glutinous rice (aka sticky rice) molded together to form a rice cake paste. It is chewy, sweet and oh-so-addictive. Fortunately this place is cheap, so when you have to revisit for the third time in a week, it won't blow a hole in your budget!

I have 100%, totally and completely fallen in love with this bar. First off, I love the little entrance down a side street, it's hidden, but live music is bursting out of the doors. You walk down the stairs and are greeted by an underground haven of music, dark spirits, beer and beautiful wooden furnishings. Other reasons why this bar is amazing: 1. Live music. Could you fit more people on that stage and have them play better music? Not sure you could. 2. The bar. It makes me happy and I want to drink all of their booze. Their back bar is beautiful. So full and so well laid out. 3. Tinnies and apple mimosas for $6 on week nights from 5pm 4. Their bathrooms are fleek AF. Black. Mirrors. Beautiful. Yes. 5. Jack Daniels. All of the Jack Daniels. 6. The bar staf are super great. Fun, laid back but hard working. 7. Clientele. They're all for the fun and totally chilled out. People were dancing, everyone was happy. It was grea. Go there. Enjoy. You're welcome.

Brooklyn Standard is a very cozy underground bar, themed (as per the name) in a very American way. Having just come back from a 3 week holiday in America, this place just totally appealed to us in just the right way :) It has a very casual feel to the place, and you can easily sit at the bar, or hideaway in a booth. They've got a good selection of beers including our personal favourite American Beer - Blue Moon. Some on tap, some in bottles. They've also got a very interesting selection of cocktails, one that even includes root beer, which is absolutely delicious! To make things even better, they have live music every night from about 7.30pm, and serve free pretzels. Beers are about $8.50, cocktails range from $14-$16. Note though, and this has also been mentioned in other reviews - those pretzels are the only food that you will find here. This is purely a drinks and cocktails bar. Still, I rate this 5 out of 5, and will definitely be back.

They had an inhouse food truck and my veggie nachos were bloody delicious. We went inside to watch the bands and I was wowed by the hanger the stage is held in. The acoustics were perfect and while it was busy, you could move easily. Getting drinks inside the live room was just as easy. The bar staff were quick which was a relief as I wanted to concentrate on the music rather than lining up. I didn't realise how diverse the venue was. It seems they have live music in the garden regularly, and after a great time last night, I'll be back.
