    Mushroom ravioli
    Michelle T.

First time going here was a bit of a disappointment. Restaurant is charming, they have inside & outside seating. We understand places are short staffed but we waited an hour & 10 min for nachos & their Thai chicken app... when we inquired the waitress said the chef burned them & had to remake.. ok but we ordered more than one app.... Bartender was quick & drinks were fantastic. The mushroom ravioli was fantastic!! Unfortunately the sirloin it was sitting in a pool of water (see for yourself in the picture) from the veggies. The communication between our waitress & us was very poor. In fact the other waitress and busboy were more attentive. 3 hours for apps & dinner is a bit long..

Here's my review: GET THE WINGS! There are lots of lovely things about the Norfolk Pub. The historic building has a distinctly tavern vibe. The setting is gorgeous; leave time to sit or walk in the back, it's quite picturesque. We sat at a high top near the window in the bar and it was very relaxed and homey. Our server was lovely and offered great advice about both the menu and the wine list. My husband really enjoyed his cold slaw (the side he got with his burger), my son loved his turkey sandwich called The Rachel, and my Santa Fe salad was really good (large, a good mix of crunch, enough zesty bits, and good dressing). However, the wings were next level. I mean really, really good. They were big. They were cooked to perfection. We all agreed that if we had known how good they were going to be, we would have ONLY HAD WINGS ! ! ! They were THAT good. If I could only rate the wings, it would give them 5 stars!

    Veal & shrimp mediera

Great restaurant in the town of Norfolk. A picturesque location that offers delicious pub food and more. Plenty of craft beer options, daily specials all looked amazing. I tried the veal and shrimp mediera and also sampled the pasta bolognese. Both were delicious! You can tell this is a scratch kitchen. The burgers coming out of the kitchen looked awesome! I will try a burger on my next visit. If you are in the area this place will not disappoint. Friendly staff/service and delicious food.

So I had a lovely experience for lunch here - high end food in a uniquely refurbished location. The French Dip sandwich was very good, a lot of dip (at least for me, but I don't use that much to begin with) and simple french fries. A nice break from steak fries though. It was very clean, our server was very friendly, and if something is going on at Infinity Music Hall parking is a challenge. My party was a little disappointed (and I left early, so I did not see) that they don't offer coffee or dessert for lunch; at least, none was offered on the day of our visit.

Salads were tasteless and verging on being stale. Waiters (probably summer staff) were earnest but not very competant.

The signage is funny, and bathroom is clean. They have a nice sized indoor/outdoor space, and host weekly events. I would definitely love to come back. When we finished up with our kayaking, we passed by again, and the place got packed and was bustling, even on a Thursday evening. And then there's Industry Kitchen. Somehow this place manages to feel completely at home in town while also giving you the vibe that you've stumbled into a great little spot in a much bigger food scene. It's warm, lively, and the kind of place where you walk in thinking "quick bite" and leave two hours later wondering why you don't come more often. The food has gotten better and better over the years, which is saying something because it started strong. The menu now hits that sweet spot where there's truly something for everyone -- great apps, excellent burgers and comfort food, and rotating entrees and specials that actually feel thoughtful instead of like menu filler. On our last visit we rolled in later than the normal dinner rush after a school event. No problem. We shared some of their reimagined flatbreads, a salad, and a few apps and it was exactly what we needed. The wings are fantastic. The bang bang shrimp might require a moment of silence. And the flatbreads are the kind of thing you order "for the table" and then quietly hope no one else notices the last slice. If you've been thinking about trying Industry Kitchen but haven't yet, go. It delivers way more than you'd expect from a quiet little corner of Railroad Street. And if you already go? Go more often. Canaan is lucky to have this place. And your dinner plans should probably involve it. I'm looking forward to trying more of their new pasta creations. P.S. Pro tip: ask them to double cut your flatbread. It turns it into the perfect shareable situation and saves everyone from the awkward "who's getting the giant slice?" P.S.S. Check out their new family tray meals. I hosted an event recently and ordered 2. Really great.

AND We had to go the booth into the back of the restaurant to get our server twice! To ask where our drinks were after we order them and 25 minutes goes by for two sodas and we never saw him come back. It was empty. We were the only people in the dining room. There were three men who were sitting at the bar and had a bartender to service them. Before we left two other couples came in and had the exact same experience as us. One of the other couples had to ask where their food was twice and the couple sitting behind us never got drinks so this is obviously an issue they faced on a regular basis. I don't recommend coming here, not for the food, not for the service, not for anything.

A Community Venue Changed…read more The Egremont Barn, now operating as Buttonball Barn, was once a cornerstone of local music and community gathering. Because of our long-standing connection to the space, my husband and I chose it for our wedding celebration, placing our deposit with the previous owners, who were professional and supportive throughout the process. After the property changed ownership, we still proceeded with our event in October. This celebration held particular significance, as my father was seriously ill at the time, and we were grateful he was able to attend. Unfortunately, our experience with the new ownership raised serious concerns about professionalism, transparency, and respect for both clients and staff. On the day of the event, the owner attempted to impose additional charges not outlined in our contract. This included a demand for a $500 fee for using a room to get ready--a space she had explicitly told me I could use earlier in the day, noting it was acceptable despite the building being under construction. While I was getting ready, she entered the room while my mother and a family friend were assisting me and removed a rug from beneath them, stating that I "wasn't supposed to use the room all day." I chose not to address this at the time in order to preserve the tone of the day. Throughout the event, the owner was also openly drinking at the open bar, which had been paid for by my father. As the night concluded, she insisted that I personally break down the entire venue either immediately or first thing the following morning--despite knowing I had family visiting--or I would be charged for a cleaning crew. This expectation had not been communicated beforehand and was not included in the contract. When I suggested discussing it the next day, she continued to press the issue and confronted my husband, who attempted to redirect the conversation. To avoid further escalation, my friends and I cleaned the venue that night--while I was still in my wedding dress. She later stated that she would retain space heaters I had purchased in exchange for waiving the disputed room fee. When I noted that none of these charges or arrangements were contractually agreed upon, she responded, "I'm expensive, and I'm not in the contract either, honey," in reference to her being casted on The Real Housewives of New York City. Additionally, her conduct toward long-standing staff members--many of whom had supported the venue for years--was concerning and contributed to an atmosphere that felt transactional rather than community-centered. Some of those staff members have since left the venue. What was most troubling was the timing and context. The attempts to extract additional money occurred at the end of a wedding celebration involving a seriously ill parent, placing unnecessary stress on a family during an already significant moment. The Egremont Barn once represented collaboration, music, and mutual respect. Under its current ownership, that spirit appears to have shifted toward aesthetics and revenue at the expense of community and care. I encourage readers to proceed with caution, ask detailed questions, and ensure all expectations are clearly documented in writing before booking events there.
