There is room for improvement*** at this place and I'm reviewing my experience I had this past Friday Night: I ordered my "go to drink" and am familiar with the way it should taste. My friend and I were not happy with the Long Island drinks we ordered here. They were missing a few important ingredients like rum, triple sec and sweet n sour and they tasted watered down. Even if my bartender was new, a Long Island is a drink that's just as popular as a Margarita. It doesn't get made wrong unless you've never made it before.... It was also difficult to get the all the bartenders' attention while standing next to all the people seated at the bar. All the seats were full but I had to waive my hands to get the attention of someone on staff to help, 1st the tall guy who was waiting for a while to pay with the cash in his hand, and then 2nd to help me so I can order more drinks. (Being that I'm 6'0 tall, waiving is not something I have to do to get service at any bar, just sayin'! ...) After most people closed their tab from last call, I also stood at the bar and waived my hands to get assistance but, it took them a good 5 minutes again for anyone to walk over and notice me. The pros of this place is that their is karaoke, darts, and 2 pool tables. I enjoyed playing pool with my friends and the crowd is a friendly mixed-age crowd. ***If customer service and care to the making of the drinks improved, I could easily give this place 4 Stars. As I was protesting coming here...I kept saying...WHY are we going here?!?! WHY?! It's because it's around the corner from my friend's house. That's why. :-/ In the San Fernando Valley, it's always nice to find a bar in a semi-shady neighborhood. HAHAHA Came here on Friday around 10:30pm ans there was at least 10-15 people inside. One word...NNNNNAAAAASSSSSSSCCCCAAAAARRRRR! You know what I mean?!?! LOL HAHAHA Okay, maybe several more. LOL Most of the time I go to a bar, I'm probably one the older patrons (can't believe I just confessed that. lol) but come here and I felt like a baby. It was karaoke night (it was a Friday) with "I wanna Be a Rockstar" blaring in the background. In between songs, they have a DJ playing music. They have two pool tables and single stall bathrooms.. The patrons and bartender are friendly. One of the patrons kept passing out snicker mini treats saying because it was Easter. :) I have no problem with that...Thank you. I love chocolate! I can't get enough of The Nectar. One, they have a great atmosphere and great bartenders! Whom always greet me with a smile and then proceed to get me my poison of choice. Their pool tables and darts machine are a bonus. I'm not a great player but the players there don't discriminate and just wanna have fun. Two, when there's events there's always food! And when there's food there are happy belly's including mine. Three, bad noodles (people who wanna ruin the night) don't get me down. Honestthe staff tries to handle them as quickly and gracefully as possible and I commend them for it. And last but not least, the owner Anissa is amazing. I go to quite a few bars, she's the only owner who isn't afraid to get dirty and help behind the bar, but she also makes sure everyone is having a great time via entertainment (karaoke, trivia night, DJ). Even when it's a mellow night don't be afraid to sit down and have a cold one! Who knows you might make a couple of new friends. Shout out to my favorite bartenders in town! I came here for the karaoke night and it made for a good evening with my buddies. The karaoke selection is decent - mostly popular songs that are hits or popular songs from the oldies. NECTAR OF NUTJOBS! A few months back, my best friend and I went there to try out the karaoke, but made the apparent mistake of using the bathroom before we ordered our drinks, and the female bartender went completely PSYCHO on us. She said we couldn't use the bathroom without ordering something, to which we said, "we were just about to order drinks, we just wanted to use the bathroom first". She said, "no you weren't". It was really weird, but I thought WTF...maybe they just don't like outsiders. Then I tried to order a glass of wine, a water, and a Diet Coke, but she refused to make them, screeching something about me not being able to pay for them, even though I had just pulled out a big wad of cash to do exactly that. At this point, she's being so completely unreasonable that I'm thinking she must have mistaken me for someone else, but whatever. I don't like being treated like crap by a stranger for no reason....so I finally said...."if you treat people like this, maybe we should just leave". She said that was a good idea, and called me a b***h. I called her a whacko, and we turned to go, at which point, she freaked out and said she was going to call the cops. Totally dumbfounded, we said, "for WHAT?" Again, she yammered on about how it was illegal to use the bathroom without buying anything. I said, "we would have bought drinks, but with the way you're treating us now, forget it". She then started screaming "you're a f'ing liar!" I yelled back, "you're f'ing crazy!", and we headed out the door. As we were leaving, and she and some of the regulars actually followed us out to the parking lot and took pictures of our license plate....screaming about how we couldn't use the bathroom without buying drinks....drinks which they wouldn't even let us buy. A trashy dive bar trying to be something its not. $10 drinks with .50 cent liquor. The crowd is atrocious. The bartenders are rude. The bar is tiny, in the parking lot of a McDonalds, Rite Aid, and KFC. I feel strange leaving my car in the parking lot there on account of the sketchy neighborhood. I must first give a heads up and let people know that the bar is under new ownership, so you can disregard all negative comments that were made about The Nectar. Also, the shady crowd people are referring to is a thing of the past. The Nectar is NOW one of the coolest bars in the valley now. The new owner is on top of her game, and the staff there is super friendly. They feature pool, darts, and karaoke 6 nights a week (MON-SAT). There is a varying range of ages of people that come to this bar, so no matter your age, you can find someone cool to hang out with and connect to during the course of a night. The regulars that I see at The Nectar are always friendly and ready to greet new people. Their pitchers of beer are very inexpensive and they are huge full size pitchers. I used to go here a lot after work to hang out with friends. It is a nice dive bar where you can go to socialize. The area at night can be a little bit scary. They have a good selection of beers and my favorite pear cider. They bartenders are generally on top of their game and if you go there enough they start to remember your name. It can get a little bit crowded during sports events and then it takes awhile to get your drinks or service at all but that is typical for any bar. read more

The staff is super friendly, the owner is pretty cool and likes to hang out. Happy hour is definitely worth checking out with very reasonably priced pitchers. This bar is pretty close to where I live however I don't take it lightly when a bar tender pretty much demands a tip. The woman that works Wednesdays should never fix her mouth to demand tips for a beer a tip should never be expected it is earned. The service was subpar ill more than likely never come back to this place on a WED night since I thats when she told me she works. My husband RAVES about this bar all the time. We've probably been to the majority of bars in the valley because of his pool league, but this place is- hands down- the most familial of them all. Anissa and her all star team (Luis, KJ, Ricardo, and Mike) definitely know how to run the bar. They're all so personable and never have you waiting for a drink like these other bars.
