I have been going to Tiffany Nails at Tyrone Mall for over a year and a half. Unfortunately, after…read moremy recent experiences, I am very disappointed with the communication, customer service, and lack of transparency about pricing.
The technician I usually saw had always done a superb job. When I was told she had returned to her home country, I decided to try someone else and booked with Anna. At our first appointment, one of the first things Anna said to me was, "I live off my tips." There was no proper introduction or greeting before that comment. I understand there may be a language barrier, but I found that an uncomfortable and unprofessional way to begin an appointment with a new customer.
I gave the salon another chance. When I understood that my previous technician had returned, I made an appointment asking for "T." Apparently, there are two technicians with similar-sounding names--TEE and THU--which led to confusion. When I arrived, I was told my appointment had been canceled. I understand that mistakes happen, but the way the situation was handled in front of other customers was embarrassing and unprofessional.
The manager also told me, "You're Anna's client." I do not believe that having an appointment with one technician means I cannot book with someone else. As a customer, I should feel comfortable choosing whichever technician I prefer.
THU ended up doing my pedicure. She was very nice, professional, and did a beautiful job. When she asked which service I wanted, I specifically requested the basic pedicure, priced at $30. Which was indicated at the very beginning. At checkout, after giving her a cash tip, I saw that my card was being charged $36. When I questioned the difference, I was told the additional $6 was because she had scraped my feet. No one had explained beforehand that this would be an extra charge or asked whether I wanted to approve it.
My concern is not simply the additional $6--it is that customers should be told about extra charges before the service is performed.
To make matters worse, when I tried to compliment THU's work and explain that I appreciated how she had done my pedicure, the gentleman handling the situation interrupted me and gave me what I felt was a dismissive look. This happened in front of other customers. Although he had repeatedly apologized earlier, I did not feel that my concerns were being heard or handled respectfully.
THU deserves credit for her work, but the appointment confusion, the way I was spoken to, and the undisclosed charge have left me unwilling to return. After more than a year and a half as a customer, I expected better communication, transparent pricing, and more professional treatment. And after the conversation speaking with the manager on the phone, she said, "Don't ever come back again because I told her I was going to write a review." She (Manager) said, as the conversation was closing, " Do not come back again!!!! believe me I won't !!!!
