I started following Muttscouts on Instagram at the beginning of quarantine. I had been thinking about fostering for a while so I finally sent an application. I was hopeful. I love animals! And now I had so much free time - much like every other person who is now sitting at home trying to find ways to fill the monotony of too much free time. BUT of course I had to talk my life partner into the decision. He was on the fence because he was sure I (we) would be a foster fail. Fortunately some time passed before I heard back from them. Honestly I think enough time passed that I sent a second application. Obviously they receive a lot of emails- couldn't hurt to showcase my eagerness It was just enough time for me to formally put together my pitch "Why we would be the greatest foster parents" Our dog would be the the best big brother AND the best teacher. We love animals. We have a yard. We will be a part of a community of like minded people...Those who unselfishly and selflessly put the needs of animals before their own. Needless to say -He was sold. I received an email about finding a good time for setting up a virtual home visit and immediately responded. YES YES- I'm free now ! The Muttscouts interviewer was lovely and talked me through the whole process for fostering. She answered all my questions and concerns. And She told me about the dog she had in mind for us. YES OF COURSE we were ALMOST a foster fail. Our very first foster dog was an absolute angel. She was amazing. And we all fell in love with her. We watched her come out of her shell- and blossom from a terrified puppy who wouldn't leave the corner into a full on girl dog with confidence walking on the leash running free with the wind in her hair. After she was adopted- I cried for about three days. And immediately reached out to sign up for another foster. Fostering has been such a gift- and I am super grateful of the community of people I have met over these months From some of the volunteers down in San Diego, to potential adopters, other foster mamas and dog lovers who follow the journey of my fosters. I really look forward to the next puppy whose life we get to be a part of- even tho the crying in front of strangers part is super uncool. If you are thinking about adopting a dog Or donating to a group that works tirelessly to do good for animals in need. I can not say enough good things about the work these people are doing. It truly takes a village.

I've had the absolute pleasure of fostering three dogs through Mutt Scouts. It's an extremely rewarding experience that I would recommend to anyone fit to do so. My current hospice foster Frankenstein was discovered and rescued from a lifetime of neglect by Mutt Scouts. The Team has gone above and beyond to get Frankenstein the medical care he needs to live out his golden years in comfort. Not a lot of people would do this for a sick old dog.

Their impact is huge, and there are countless ways to help -- no contribution is too big or too small. One thing I deeply appreciate is their Adoption Guarantee: If for any reason an adopter decides their new pet isn't the right fit for their home, the Humane Society will schedule an appointment to welcome the pet back -- without judgment or criticism. This level of compassion and support is rare and shows how committed they are to both animals and adopters. Some meaningful ways to get involved include: Donating money Volunteering Participating in the Dog Day Out program Supporting the Community Cat Program Fostering Adopting instead of shopping Spaying/neutering your pets Sharing or reposting their information to spread awareness The San Diego campus is next‑level -- very clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. Across the county, they have four campuses: San Diego, Escondido, El Cajon, and Oceanside (Escondido has a great setup for livestock and farm animals). Every staff member I've interacted with has been compassionate and patient. They deal with animals in distress every single day, so a little grace goes a long way.

We got to meet a lot of adorable dogs, and one little guy instantly stole our hearts. What really stood out was how thoughtful and thorough TAP's process is. There was no pressure to adopt on the spot, which we really appreciated. After the event, we completed an application and received clear next steps. The following week, our foster brought him to our home so we could spend more time together. That confirmed everything we felt at the event. TAP conducted a home visit and checked our references, and it was clear throughout the process that they truly care about the well being of their animals and making the right match. Our foster was amazing, so kind and supportive. When we brought our little guy home, she sent him with his toys, some food, and a sweet note, which meant so much to us. Such a wonderful experience overall, and now our home is filled with love, laughter, and lots of snuggles.

They provide food, supplies, veterinary care, and any other items your foster dog may need. Your contribution is the home and time. They also have a coordinator that matches you with a dog/cat that will match your lifestyle or situation such as small apartment spaces or other pets/kids. The coordinator is extremely communicative and prompt. Another great option is temporary foster for when long-term fosters go on vacation or when certain animals need a foster home if the kennel is full. This is a great opportunity to do a trial run on fostering or if you can't make a longer commitment. I have fostered several dogs from this rescue and make a monthly contribution when I can't house another pup. I continue to be inspired by their amazing work. A true miracle journey with Pup N Boots, Bobbie Daluz & Belle!…read moreWe have always been a family that believes in the power of love. A love that extends not just to our fellow human beings, but to the voiceless, the innocent & the often forgotten. Our recent adoption of a puppy from Pups n Boots, under the caring guidance of Bobbie DaLuz, has been a testament to this belief. From the moment we initiated contact with Pups n Boots, we were met with nothing but warmth, professionalism & a genuine sense of care for the animals they rescue. Bobbie is a true angel in disguise, dedicating her life to rescuing pregnant dogs & puppies from Mexico, ensuring they receive the vital urgent veterinary care & surgeries they need to survive & thrive. Our puppy arrived in Connecticut in excellent health, thanks to the private transport arranged by Pups n Boots and our family. The journey from San Diego was seamless, each step meticulously planned to ensure our new family member's safety & comfort. The level of commitment that Bobbie & the Pups n Boots team demonstrated throughout this process is truly inspiring. They go above & beyond the call of duty to save these precious lives & give them a chance at a better future. But it's not just about the animals. It's also about the people they bring together. We've felt a sense of community, of shared purpose & of love that we hadn't anticipated. In adopting our puppy, we've also become part of a larger family - the Pups n Boots family. If you're considering adopting a pet, we wholeheartedly recommend Pups n Boots & the amazingly wonderful Bobbie DaLuz. Your life will be enriched, your family expanded & your heart warmed by the experience. And if you have the means to donate to this amazing cause, please do. Every penny goes toward ensuring these dogs receive the medical care they need & finding them loving homes. Your contribution could save a life & there's no greater gift than that. We're eternally grateful to Bobbie & her team for bringing us our new puppy. They've not only given us a new family member, they've shown us the true meaning of kindness, compassion & love.
