This place has got to be one of the sweetest furniture stores I have come across, It boasts pieces that are understated but beautiful in the simplicity of their design. What I love about their range is that it doesn't boast huge cumbersome pieces that are overly grandiose or OTT. Instead I feel the furniture is designed to be seamlessly transitioned into your living room..almost like its been there all along. Made out of solid Oak and Elm these pieces have been manufactured to meticulous european standards and have withstood my rigorous testing (This includes jumping up and down on the chairs and knocking importantly on wooden surfaces.) The warping chipboards on their book shelves and flimsy mattresses on the bed frames make me suspect their durability. On the plus side, the Macgregor showrooms are huge. There's one big shed dedicated to outdoor furnishings, another shed for office and a third shed for indoor lounge/ dining. The first time I came here, I didn't appreciate the distance between the showrooms. By the time I walked to the third shed (in the midday sun), I was dehydrated. Points go to their excellent vending machine facilities in the third shed. Perhaps they've had too many customers faint while walking the length of their showroom. For future reference, it's much better to drive you car around to park at the specific shed you are after. Super A-mart is worth checking out during the sales if you are looking at furnishing student accommodation at relatively cheaper prices.

Wood items are mostly solid wood, there's lots of leather and mostly leather furniture, fabric quality is good, and now that we have the furniture in our home, I can tell you everything is perfectly comfortable. They have three separate showrooms, one for living room, one for bedroom, and one for outdoors. Prices are pretty good, at a little more than half of what you might find at just about any furniture store. Delivery was quick and painless and customer service was not bad, either. One of our items arrived damaged, but they replaced it right away with no questions asked.

And on price: yes, they're a little higher than your average chain furniture store. But let's put it in into perspective. The clay bowels made locally, for example. The ceramic artist digs the clay from his own property near Samford. He then turns each bowl individually. Each one is different in an ever so slight manner. They're hand glazed. They're truly one of a kind. I think you get my point. In any case, you'll probably stroll out of here with a big grin on your face. Stores like Brisbane Made are a sign of Brisbane's own evolution and illustrates the abundance of creativity and ingenuity here in our own backyard.

I adore this RSPCA thrift store…read more I have found quite a number of designer dresses for dirt cheap here in past years. I have my suspicions about why RSPCA thrift becomes a home for beautiful clothing. Lots of people with good taste and disposable income live here, and fashion does have it's seasons after all. What else does one do but give their last season threads to the op shop? It makes sense, right? I'm fairly sure this op shop doesn't have any weaknesses. It's got sizable collections of pretty much everything. For some mysterious reason, RSPCA thrift doesn't ever seem to get raided for all the things keen op shoppers look out for: pressure cookers, frames, vintage manchester. Win! If you're on a stroll from James Street down down toward the Powerhouse, stop on by this local treasure. It's a goldmine.

You have to trawl hard through all the racks but with patience (and a small amount of luck.) there are some truly sweet finds to be had (Think giant picture frames for $5 or skirts and tops for $3) With stacks of furniture out the back as well as sweet home ware's, you will spent a happy couple of hours investigating this little store.

On the hunt for some chairs recently, Viva Design Furniture was on my list of places to look. The store on McLachlan Street in the Valley is huge with 5 levels of display furniture so many beautiful pieces. The furniture is primarily designed in Italy, which is obvious as you walk through the show rooms. The sleek, clean lines and the beautiful materials give you the feeling that if you do find something perfect here for your home, it won't be cheap! I eventually found some great white cafe chairs on sale for $99 each (yippee!). The gentleman who was in the store when I visited was lovely and clearly a talented salesman. I always try and steer clear of those types but he was genuinely helpful. So if your home is in need of a pamper, than make sure that Viva is on your list of places to look because there are some seriously enviable pieces in their store. And who knows, it might just get you excited about furnishing your house again!

During the times I've been both of weekends and weekdays, I didn't find it to be too busy inside, so it gives plenty of time to peruse the options. One thing I noticed which I didn't like to much is that they lack in good customer service. I walked in and circled the entire store without so much as a glance. I didn't take it personally, because I noticed it happened with all the customers they had in store at the time. The staff waited until they were approached by customers first. I don't know about you, but I think that's all back to front! In the end, after I approached them and asked for assistance. They were relatively nice and helpful enough. Not the most pleasant of shopping experiences, but it will do.
