Run by resident theatre group, Cowbridge Amateur Dramatic Society (CADS), the tiny Market Theatre is situated in Cowbridge and was built largely by volunteers about 40 years ago.
It seats just 65 people yet it has a full-sized stage and many of the facilities you'd expect of a much larger venue including professional lighting, dressing rooms, a decent sound system, a quality electronic piano, and a well-stocked bar and kitchen facilities.
There are usually about three main productions a year put on at the theatre, put on by CADS, and all are well-supported by the local community. The next one is Rope, by Patrick Hamilton, in September (8-11). Some actors and actresses have the gift more than others, but all are obviously passionate about acting and give it their all.
Visiting groups can also hire the theatre for their own meetings or workshops. read more
