So, this place is awesome. It's like half railroad park, half Wright-brothers park, half historical…read moremuseum, and half outdoor garden-park. THAT'S FOUR HALVES!!!! I went here as part of a group, and they seem to get a lot of school field trips, but they're well organized, and it's a big place, so even with a ton of kids at the place, you don't feel like you're crowded. They have really great people working here, who are more than happy to answer your questions and explain things to you. I had like, fifteen minutes alone with the candle-maker lady and my son, and she entertained all of his questions and was really cool to talk with. They have a lot of Dayton-related history around NCR, and flight, and nuclear energy, and old automobiles. I bet it's a blast to work there. My favorite part though, was the outdoors area. It's just a really well maintained facility with lots of big old trees, and shade, and you can really just kick back and relax and chill out.

(Check out the bag of dog food, potato chips, train/tram car, dog, and other cool things to ride in addition to just horses). NCR, National Cash Register was originally founded in Dayton and there is an impressive collection of antique cash registers, which were invented to "keep the bartenders honest". Outside is a really neat little village with various historic landmarks, log cabins, buildings, and mills you can walk into. I will say there was quite a bit of yard work going on and I think they were chipping a tree because the air was filled with debris and it was getting into our eyes and noses, making it difficult to breathe as we walked around out there. Inside the main museum was the safer place to be in terms of air quality. I really loved the replica of Orville and Wilbur's original airplane, housed in one of the outside buildings. My son was getting hangry, so we didn't spend as long as I would like in that building learning about aviation, but I thought the docent was very knowledgeable and I found it super interesting. He was an aerospace engineer and shares my passion for aviation. He also said that there was an eagle's nest out behind the building that housed the airplane, and the baby eagles were fledgelings, just learning to fly. How apropos!

The club's members range from singles, couples/partners, young families, older families, empty nesters to retirees! It's a place for everyone! The Polo Club is something between a neighborhood pool and a country club. It's friendly and welcoming so no snooty attitudes allowed here. The club no longer has staff, it's member driven with volunteer and/or donation efforts throughout the year, in addition to club dues. The MVHPC has so much more to offer than just a pool membership....there are fun things like winter and summer platform tennis leagues, hiking trails, card nights, kids movie nights, pig roasts, derby day party, Christmas dance, karaoke....etc. In 2020, we added pop up parties with live local music on the terrace (BYOB) and it was a huge hit with members. We have been members since 2017 (wish we had joined sooner!)....I don't know what we did before we joined. We love it!
